Had a Fabulous time

Had a wonderful time in Puerto Vallarta. We loved staying at Garza Blanca. It was the best resort on the south side. We were in tower 5 and had an excellent view of the ocean and the sunsets at night. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is amazing. The restaurants were a little on the pricey side, but room service was awesome and seemed to be the better choice. Otherwise, it was about $8.00 for a taxi downtown where the food choices were abundant and the hospitality was excellent. Everyone at Garza Blanca were very friendly and eager to help. They would do anything to help or book whatever you needed. The one thing that bummed me out, was I booked the kayak/ snorkeling activity one morning at 8am, however the trolley doesn't start running until 8am. So I had to run down the stairs and across the bridge crossing the road to try and get to the beach and I was 5 min late and the kayaks were already leaving the cove. I guess I should have called down to the front desk or something and asked them to wait, but not much I could do. I was leaving the next day and wasn't able to reschedule. So make sure you plan accordingly.

There was no follow up or care

I went to Garza Blanca to celebrate my 45th birthday. On my second night at the resort at about 2am one of the decorations above the bed fell and hit my head. I woke up startled and frighted. I called the front desk to inform them of the incident and also informed them that I had a headache. At no point did I get a follow-up call. I had to ask the cleaning lady to remove the decorations above the wall and she did. I never received a call from the hotel to check on me. The reason why this matters so much, is that I was traveling alone and was with no one and knew nobody at the hotel. The hotel knew that I was by myself. I also got very sick with what I believe was a stomach virus. I was sick for almost the entire time. I spoke with concierge to cancel dinner reservations and informed them that I was sick of my stomach and at no point did I get any advice. I went to the store that the resort has, and they were helpful. I purchased imodium and also fluid to hydrate. When I returned to the US I went immediately to my doctor who confirmed that I had a stomach virus. I have traveled so much and with two situations reported I would have imagined that I would have received some follow-up call from the resort. I also made a complaint about the decorations falling on my head at the point of check-out and at that moment, and also informed them that I was sick. The person at check-out just said sorry and I hope that you do return. I also looked visibly sick and I left the resort very disappointed and happy to return home. On another side note, at the point of arrival I was offered the option to upgrade my room. I did for an up cost of $700.00 for ocean view. I was also under the impression that I had all inclusive, which I did not. Also at the point of check-in I was invited to schedule a session to view some of the apartments that the resort was selling. I actually felt that I was there as an asset instead of a vacationer.

Hotel Description

Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa: Fine Wine, Great Golf, Stellar Spa

Are you ready to check-out with a check-in at island-style rest and relaxation? Just a hop and a skip south of Puerto Vallarta, resting peacefully between the lush emerald foliage of the Sierra Madres and the cerulean blues of the Pacific Ocean in Banderas Bay, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa makes its home along the winding shores of the Rio Nogalito.

The beaches of Banderas Bay are known for their expansive vistas and cozy, pristine sands, and the resort's beautiful stretch is no exception. Grab a complimentary sun lounger under a shady umbrella and wait for the courteous lounger-side waiter service to cater to your every whim. The sizable infinity pool appears to disappear into the Pacific and offers a Jacuzzi as well as the same luxury amenities available at the beach, sans the sand.

On-site restaurant options leave nothing to be desired, courtesy of Blanca Blue, an exceptional gourmet experience with contemporary fare like ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese, parmesan and asparagus, served with butter sauce and real slabs of San Daniele prosciutto. Aqua Azul pleasures palettes with traditional Mexican cuisine and an assortment of ceviches.

After you've tucked in, test your tensile strength on a paddle board, train for the rowing team on a kayak or blow bubbles in the surf on a snorkeling expedition, all courtesy of Garza Blanca. For the fairway fiends in the group, Garza Blanca is a short driving distance from four gorgeous 18-hole golf courses. Take your pick from Marina Vallarta, designed by Joe Finger; Los Flamingos Country Club, designed by Percy J. Clifford; or Vista Vallarta, home to two separate courses, one designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and the other by Tom Weiskopf.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. Food and drink must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
