Great Deal

So we stayed at a Riu in Cancun in January and fell in love, so we thought that we would book our next vacation at another Riu. I beleive that the layout at this resort was a little awkward to get around to places, felt like it was stairs or walking through a restaurant to get to the other side. But service was good, food was good, pools were fun! You can't swim at the beach beacause of the undertow but we knew that going in. Overall a great experience and perfect weather! We would go back :)

2nd time, still love it!

This is my second visit here. This time I stayed at the Palace which is a bit nicer, but almost loses some of its Mexican charm. It is well appointed, clean, and the bed was so comfy! Keep in mind that any beach in the Cabo area will have rough ocean water....so don't hold this against the resort. My only complaint here...they watered down the wine! but the beer and cocktails were great! Overall, it was great, and we are already planning on coming back!

Great time at the Riu Palace!

We had a great time at the Riu Palace! It was my first stay there and I was impressed. For those who were last there before the renovation in 2016, you definitely need to check it out! Checking in is a breeze and we had full access to all the amenities even though our room wasn’t ready for a few more hours. Pack your swimsuit and hit the pool while you wait. It is a large resort but it never felt crowded, maybe because it has 2 identical sides with a large pool and pool bar on each side. The adult pool bars are truly adults only and have amazing views. If you have kids, the larger pools are steps away! We met lots of great people and pretty much spent our days at the pool. Breakfast, pool, lunch, pool, dinner, etc. Repeat. And a few adult never throughout the day as well! The new beach club is great if you prefer that to the pools. The beach is immaculate and well maintained and while you can check out a few nearby vendors, they aren’t crowding the beach either. And no one comes on the property to harass you. We stayed on the “loud side” and it was never really loud.By the time we Got back to the room there was never an issue with noise. And the views from that side are down Medano Beach toward the Arch and Marina. It is definitely the side you want for the best view. The lobby lounge is a great place to hang out and perfect for sunsets! The buffets are great and we had unlimited lobster on Thanksgiving Night! They never felt crowded and the selection was incredible! The a la carte restaurants are nice too and we really enjoyed the two we tried. No reservation required. The “loud side” had a daily bbq at lunch and that was awesome. There were also specialty drink demonstrations too. If you want more of a party, the Riu Palace is literally a short walk from the lobby and you have full privileges. The Office at the Beach is within walking distance and a cab ride to the marina and town is only $14. The staff is amazing and the resort is immaculate! Yes, the rooms have coffee pots and irons. Mini bar too and a fridge stocked with beer, soda, water, etc. No robes! That would be a welcome addition. We had a great time and will definitely stay there again!

A decent resort

The resort itself for the price was decent. The room was fine, nothing wowing about it. There were still stains on some of the bath towels in the room.them. Which makes me feel the towels are not clean. The waiters/waitresses were attentive. The drinks however were very watered down. Food selections were good as there were at least 4-5 different Cusine to choose from. The best was the Krystal restaurant. And they had 2 very big pool because the beach is not safe to be near. And it’s rwally true, as the waves comes up extremely high through out the day. Overall, the experience was good.

Blue sparkling pools with dynamo ocean views. Pic opp moments, for sure.

Swoon-worthy views from your balcony - ocean or resort, either way - it's stunning.

Freshly made guacamole for your morning, afternoon, or late night snack. It's delish.

Staying in your room and dining with 24-hour room service. Because you're a rock star.

What We'd Change

The beach out front isn't swimmable - the undercurrent is strong, but you can the pool is gorgeous and has the best ocean view.

Why You Should Go

Perfect location in Cabo - a short trip from the airport to the resort and close to Cabo's nightlife.

Riu's commitment to top notch service will win you over the moment your flip flops hit the resort.

Whale watching is epic here. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Stay sporty - tennis, volleyball, ping pong are included, and for a fee, ride horses on the beach.

See the famous El Arco (meaning "Land's End") from the resort. (Go there and take a Selfie).
