Good value

Had a good time at the pools/beach. Adults only package def worth it for the adults only pool. We found it quiet and relaxing even though it's a bit harder to get drink service. Only negative my boyfriend's wallet got stolen and they used his credit cards to make purchases in town. We spoke to the front desk about it and they stated it was most likely an employee but they could not do anything about it. We felt as if they should've offered us something for the inconvenience.

Be careful and tread lightly in this place!!

First of, this was my second experience with riu palace. First time it was great in Jamaica until I got here in Cancun. First couple days were great. Nice people, great service and just real beautiful. Until someone decided to steal my Walllet and use all my credit cards and rack up $800 worth of things all over Cancun. Don’t get me wrong I felt confident that when I lost my walllet some kind staff member or fellow vacationer will find it and I wlll simply pick it up from their lost and found department so I didn’t want to cancel my cards because I need money for my vacation. Boy was I wrong. I took this to the manager and I all got from this lady was that they always check their staff when they finished their shifts. On top of that she said that if I happened to be at the beach then most likely someone took it because it’s a public beach so random people who are not on the resort can easily take our stuff! I don’t know what kind of security they have with that but it seems flawed. They tried helping me find my wallet but I felt betrayed and not welcomed anymore. When I checked out that resort and I made eye contact with one of the people who was trying to help but he looked away! Not one person said anything or even mentioned it again. Like it was nothing! There’s someone in that resort stealing other peoples stuff and money. They need to seriously boost up with security or changed some rules so no one else suffers on their PAID vacation. If you decide to come here. Keep your belongings EXTRA CLOSE.

Do not recommend

Last year my family and I booked Villa Del Palmar and we loved it. This year we decided to try another resort since it is our second time visiting Cancun and we were very shocked. 1- The food quality was very bad, we did not like any of the food in an of the resultants from A-Z. The food was not fresh except for the guacamole and the Juices. We actually had to dine outside of the hotel for 7 days. 2- A lot of their employees do not speak English 3- Room- We traveled with a 3 year old they had us in a room with 2 queen size beds however we requested a king size bed and they upgraded our room to ocean view which was the highlight of our trip. Although the rooms are not very comfy the furniture is old and very ugly. The refrigerator in the room did not cool properly. 4- They don't service food to where your seated at the pool only drinks. They have an area by the pool where you can go to get hotdogs & burgers however you have to wait in a long line and if they run out of a specific food they tell you were out rather than getting more. 5- I did not like the pools, they only use 1 pool out of 4 pools and it becomes very crowded. 6- Entertainment was good, they encourage people to participate in activities. Al in all we did not enjoy our stay and the food was horrible!

Enjoyed my stay

Overall the riu is great. Had a very nice time Good food Great service Great junior suite MY ONLY issue is.......I never paid attention to the adults only Option. NOW I WILL. If u don’t wanna hear a lot if noise during dinner or kids crying do adults only!!! The people at the airport who transfer u are there to MAKE MORE money off u when u land. All cheap Caribbean does Is contract your transfers to THEM!!! They make your transfers out to be a seven game series!!! It’s NOT a simple process

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The uber dazzling stretch of white sand, tropical flora and crystal clear aquamarine water.

Stress-ousting massages, steam baths and saunas at the delicious spa. It's a Melt-a-thon.

RiuLand - supervised activities for kids 4-12 while you get your drink & relaxation on.

The day trip to Isla Mujeres to see the sea turtles and all the electrically colorful fish.

The more-than-delish Mexican nosh spot and steakhouse. (Nom, nom, nom.)

Renting a moped or scooter and tooling around, taking in all the natural beauty.

Getting a bottle of tequila sent to your room for your birthday.

What We'd Change

While the nightly entertainment may not be for everyone, you are close enough to the heart of Cancun to find something that will strike your fancy.

Why You Should Go

It's just 13 miles away from the airport so that Beach Relief aka Your Vacay will start before you know it.

Mayan ruins are on site and near (Chichen Itza). For history buffs, it's a great dose of antiquity.

The resort is off-the-beaten path, but you can hope on a shuttle to the hot spots in Cancun.

There are oceans of water sports: kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing and more.

When you're not in the luscious ocean, you can hit the gym or play beach volley ball.

Travelers report excellent service, that you'll feel like Beach Royalty. (It's a palace, after all.)

You can rent jet skis and for a fee, go scuba diving. Take the plunge.
