  Not what it used to be.

  Has gone downhill since 2022. Drinks were weak. Asked for a double shot and we only got splashes. Got shots on the side and tasted watered down. No longer have top shelf bourbon or bourbon or ginger ale in the room. Some broken tiles and peeling paint. Often had to call twice or more before they fixed broken fridge or hair dryer. Have told them twice we’re out of conditioner and they’ve cleaned twice, still out of conditioner. Shows are a shadow of what they were in 2022. Mostly karaoke with the fun staff. It’s still a beautiful area and the staff are very friendly. The pools and beach are clean. The food is excellent. Overall, not worth the premium price. The hotel has great bones

  The Best Caribbean Vacation I have Ever Been On...I have no constructive criticism...

  I never really had a desire to visit Cancun. I heard that the water was rough and the resorts were older and more focused on a collegiate aged crowd. That being said, I ran across a deal that financially was too good to be true and I couldn't pass it up. Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas completely changed my mind on Cancun. The water near the hotel is a little more protected from the waves and offers swimming, snorkeling, and water sports directly off of the beach in crystal clear waters. The staff was absolutely incredible and probably the most accommodating and friendly out of any resort that I have ever visited. The rooms were clean and very well taken care of. Viri at the front desk, was extremely kind and welcoming and took great care of us when we arrived before our room was ready. Abu at the lobby bar was absolutely amazing and had one of the best personalities of any person that I have had the privilege to interact with. The food was as good as any resort that I have previously been to. There is something for everyone. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about the entire trip. It was amazing, and we will be back!

  Fabulous hotel, amazing staff, huge shout out to ABU and wonderful dining experience

  We arrived for 8 nights, had a junior suite room ,level 5 room 556. The room was side view facing so partial sea view and partial road view. It was quiet and the balcony was nice to sit with a drink. The room was spacious ,huge bed that was comfy , pillows were OK could of been better ,but once our head hit the pillow it didn't take long to fall asleep. Bathroom is big, shower was powerful. Mini fridge stocked daily , alcohol optics in room, vodka, bacardi, gin and tequila. Plenty of water in room. The air con worked but it was loud, when it kicked in it sounded like the door was being kicked in,so startled us from sleep quite often. You do get used to it,so no big deal... your door to room is quite heavy so you certainly hear them bang when opening /closing... and not all guests are considerate with this . The reception is beautiful and all the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the welcome drink was refreshing . Check in was swift and luggage arrived in room straight away. On the 5th day a glass panel had fallen out of our balcony ,we had some strong winds , anyway we were swiftly moved to level 4 ,room 439 ,junior suite with full sea view , it was nicer so opt for sea view. The bar is welcoming with plenty of seating areas... wow can we just appreciate ABU what a guy he worked that bar pleasing everyone, remembering everyone's drinks ,he's been at this hotel for 23 years and u can tell, always friendly and greeted you as a friend not a guest he stood out as a asset to the rui ... this guy made ouf stay memorable along with alonnzo he was great. The restaurants The Italian is situated next to cappuccino bar and lm only saying this as we missed it.... great food, service little slow but the food at lunch was great . The lamb chops were fantastic. Japanese Again these restaurants are spotless and we enjoyed it for a change. Krstal gourmet This was also very good you cannot fault the food and fast efficient service the steak was good. Mexican Went twice again clean and efficient good choice of food mark loved the sea bass and prawn taco .. Black and white Wow this was our favourite and never disappointed The ribs, chips surf and tuff were incredible but get in early as it seemed to be a favourite with most guests... you get a buzzer if they are busy so keep your eye on that whilst being entertained by Abu at the bar. The buffet Again this place was extremely clean and such a wide range of quality food, if u cannot find something to eat in here then you are the problem, from fruit, cereal, breads, eggs, bacon streaky, omelette, then lunch again such a wide variety... my favourite was thd carved meats, and huge prawns .... thd staff in the buffet are great always welcoming and find u a seat fast... Honestly this was one of the nicest rui we have been too. The food, the staff are fantastic. The pools both beautiful one quieter the other very lively or you have the option for the beach, be warned the lively pool guests were down ridiculously early to get there bed... we opted for the beach everytime and it was perfect.. the sea was warm and take a banana in and feed the fish they are beautiful. Umbrellas handy and there is always guys asking if you would like a drink.they do ask everyone so just go easy on them, u may wait 20 mins but the trays they carry out with so many drinks on ,you can understand why and there memory is great ... towels are available daily u just return used then get clean. We have met so many friends for life and it was truly a memorable experience , the staff are so professional and we are leaving with our hearts full. The only negative we have was the shop we got a packet of crisps (lays )and my husband was charged the equivalent to £11 now l would of said forget it but my husband paid and moaned about it... what was wrong was no pricing was visible in this shop, which doesn't sit well with me as you feel like you are getting ripped of as we did on the crisps . Just ask the bar for crisps or popcorn and save spending £11 .lesson learnt. Fabulous stay will encourage friends to try the rui . Its nice to be able to use other rui 's which was a nice bonus .   Its all about the service, which at this hotel, is exceptional.

  We arrived 5hrs late due to flight delays, welcome drinks were waiting for us and reception staff very helpful. The bedrooms are all pretty standard, ours was on the 7th floor and slightly on the side of the building affording us a view of both the sea, road beneath, and lagoon. Ive read about some people not liking those rooms but in my opinion, it gave me more to nose at. The room had optics containing vodka, rum, tequila and gin and the fridge full of soft drinks and beer which was refilled daily. . The hotel itself was immaculate. There were staff everywhere fixing/cleaning/serving. No sooner did I notice a little chip in a glass partition by the beach......someone was there to replace it. All the staff appeared genuinely happy to see us and say hello. . Everything was on a first come, first served basis. Sunbeds aplenty, people did put towels down but theres really no need, lots of beds around the 3 pools and on the beautiful beach. Lots of restaurants to choose from, we were able to walk into any between 6pm and 10pm and be seated, the Japanese being my personal favourite, but theres also Italian, Mexican, a steakhouse, a fine-dining place....all of the food was of a very high standard. . Honesty. We accidentally left our safe open one morning. It contained our passports, money and jewellery. On our return late afternoon, I was confused to see a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door which I definitely hadn't left there. Walking in I immediately saw the open safe door and panicked but needn't have. Everything was there. We assumed the maid had come in, seen the open safe and left, putting the sign on the door so no-one else would go in. . 3 pools are split between the noisy pool, the quiet pool, and the 'somewhere in the middle' pool. Noisy pool has music, exercise classes in the water and lots of other entertainment, not for us hence we generally headed for the beach which again was very clean. My only very slight complaint.....the water temperature in the pools was baltic! Im sure some people prefer that, but I couldn't get in it. . There was no pretentiousness here, everyone treated the same, all areas open to all people. . The coffee bar just inside the main door served the best coffee ive ever had. The service throughout the hotel was incredible and I'd definitely recommend staying here. . We stayed here for one week before moving onto another further down the coast for a week and to be honest, we wish we'd stayed at this one (even tho the other one was more expensive and supposedly 'better'). . Highly recommended.

  Nice Hotel and Great Family Holiday.

  Just got back from a great 7 night family holiday. Rooms - the rooms are big but probably in need of an upgrade at some stage as the furniture is dated and shower fixtures etc are old. Maid service excellent though. Food - we ate at all 5 restaurants and our favourite was the Steakhouse. If you don’t want to eat at 6 then get there just after and you get a buzzer which tells you when your table is free, usually about 7.45. The buffet is great for breakfast and lunch, plenty of choice. Pool - There are 2 pools, one lively and one quiet. If you want a lounger for the day at the lively pool in the sun then you need to get your towels down by 7.30 as they get taken quick. Entertainment good with pool volleyball, games and aerobics etc Beach - the beach is nice but we found the loungers go in the shade quickly due to the low sun in January so pick your spot carefully. Bars and Entertainment - There’s a nice bar for evening drinks and an entertainment room. Good shows and variety, we especially liked the silent disco Gym - Ok, but again, some machines in need of an upgrade. Not a 5 star gym. Special shout out to some great guests we met from Wisconsin who gave us some great tips on bar shots 🍹🍸😊. In summary, a nice hotel and a good hotel choice in Cancun
