Dec 20, 2025Acceptable for the budget traveler
Overall I would rate this acceptable for the budget traveler. The place was very clean and well maintained. The room we were in was ocean front, far from the noise and food. It was spacious and had a well stocked fridge. The bed was hard and uncomfortable for us but we come to expect that. Pools were clean, bartenders (especially Adriano at the Tequila) were superb. Beach footprint was small but beautiful. Food was terrible. Many hot items in the buffet were lukewarm to cold. The buffet service was disappointing as a few times for breakfast we were never approached the entire time we sat there, having to find silverware on our own. The specialty restaurants were unappetizing. The worst was the steakhouse as there we felt rushed and unattended to. The steak was tough, despite asking for medium. The salmon—well I never received it. Instead I got a steak dropped off and no one returned so I could correct this. I finally decided to eat it as I was hungry and my husband was nearly done.

This was a great trip. This was the second RIU we have stayed at. Both were great. This one had added benefits of a spa and waterslides, which we loved. One perk was Santiago that worked in the sports bar. He was there every night of our trip and we made sure to stop in every night for a drink. If you go, definitely add the sports bar to your list of must do’s to see our new friend Santiago!! Always willing to put on whatever game we wanted to watch. It was a busy time of year for sports with the World Cup this year and NFL games. He made sure everyone had their game they wanted to watch setup. Seems like something small but good customer service is hard to find now days. So having a person with a smile that knew your drink order as you were walking in, getting the game setup was part of what made this trip so special! Santiago gets five gold stars for his wonderful service!!! Food was good, hotel is clean. There are always people cleaning, wiping handles, sweeping. Room was clean and weak cared for. Felt very safe, comfortable and well taken care of. I don’t normally write reviews but felt this experience deserved one.

Amazing Resort
We had an amazing stay at Riu Dunamar. Everything was excellent—spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and beautifully organized. The staff were incredibly helpful and consistently went the extra mile to ensure guests were comfortable, satisfied, and happy. This was my second visit to Riu Dunamar and my third stay at a Riu resort overall, and it continues to exceed my expectations. I would confidently choose Riu again every time.

Stunning resort!
The resort is visually stunning and everyone is so friendly. The RIU party’s are a must! The food is in abundance 24/7 and the drinks! 4 pools with bartenders everywhere. The entertainment staff are phenomenal! The waterslides and beach are the extra bonus. The rooms are spacious and have a full stocked mini bar.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful stay – highly recommended We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and absolutely do not regret choosing it. The room was very comfortable, extremely clean, and the sea view was absolutely stunning — waking up to that view every day was a real pleasure. The beach is beautiful, well maintained, and there is always plenty of space to find sun loungers. The presence of trees providing natural shade is a big plus and makes the beach even more enjoyable. The buffet restaurant is more than satisfactory, with good quality food. While the selection can be a bit repetitive, it remains very decent overall. We didn’t personally use the swimming pools, but they looked very nice and well maintained. What really makes the difference is the staff: everyone is charming, attentive, and welcoming. Unlike many all-inclusive resorts, the beach servers are constantly walking around and asking if you would like something to drink, which is truly appreciated. A very special thank you to Caroline from customer service, who was absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful, and to Gustavo, the beach waiter, who took excellent care of us throughout our stay. Thanks to the entire team, we had a fantastic experience and will keep wonderful memories of this trip. Nathalie
