  clean and friendly

  I would stay again as it is very clean and staff are very helpful and friendly. Lots to do at pools and beach. My only complaint was food was not kept very warm. buffet was decent but a la carte restaurants were good.

  Great vacation spot

  This family friendly hotel was (on both visits) very enjoyable. Food activities and service were all excellent value for the money. In the buffet area we had incredibly attentive service from Gaspar and also friendly service from Becky and Ana. The front desk staff were extremely helpful especially Jose Luis, Angel and Katia.

  Visited RIU Dunamar with family and friends and we loved it. We had a great experience and hope to visit again in the future.

  Keep your money, go elsewhere or stay home.

  Where to start… First, the employee at check‑in was anything but welcoming. Then there were the hallways leading to the rooms—long, bare corridors that looked more like a prison, and so echoey that every sound bounced around. The rooms themselves were furnished with cheap Ikea‑style pieces that felt like they could collapse at any moment. The bed had sheets as thin as paper, and the fridge made as much noise as an airplane engine. Now, the food… Forget the “à la carte” restaurants. At the French restaurant, you’ll either wait for an eternity or be served what feels like the entire ocean’s worth of salt on a plate. The buffet is cheap, the food is cold, and the whole area is unbearably noisy as they roll carts full of plates and glasses over tiled floors. As for the pools—again, loud. There isn’t a single calm or relaxing pool. Instead, you’ll find crowds glued to the pool bar all day, with some people even dancing on the bar. I could go on like this all day, but let me leave you with this: do yourself a favor and stay home. You’ll be more comfortable, and you’ll save money.

  Excellent value

  We make many trips to Cancun each year to stay at all-inclusives. This was the first time to stay at a RIU property. Was quite pleasantly surprised by the service provided by the staff. The grounds were maintained beautifully, while the rooms were constantly cleaned and mini-bars stocked. The restaurants did not require reservations and were not difficult to get in. The only issue was that this property seems to attract families. This isn't a bad thing except when the children are left unsupervised. There many times where I witnessed kids putting their hands on the food on the buffet. I even saw a kid put his hands into the ice maker to get ice for his drink. In all of the cases, there was not a parent around. Otherwise this is a terrific resort, but I think I'll pursue an adults-only property next time.
