There are better places to stay

Pretty disappointed with this resort. I have been to Riu's all over Mexico, and this has been the worst. I won't make this review long: Food -- the buffet was the best place to eat. the BUFFET. The restaurants were super underwhelming, and I was unimpressed with the quality of the food. The buffet was okay, but even that needed improvements in quality and taste. Also, no room service. The drink were incredibly low quality. To the point where no one in my family (a group of 16) drank very much during the trip. The last days of the trip we just avoided drinking throughout because the drinks were so bad. Service -- they were very attentive. Always happy to help wherever they could, but it did seem like they were understaffed almost? While the service was helpful, it sometimes took time to get what we needed. Beach -- WONDERFUL. Super warm water and wonderful sand. But I knock points for the pools. Getting into the pool was almost like getting into a sauna, they were so hot. They had one swim up bar which was often overcrowded. Overall -- we visited other Rius in Cancun just to check them out, and we would have ended up paying more per person for a significantly better experience. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Great resort, terrible mattresses

Arrived to a beautiful looking resort, didn't know that because it is a Caribe, that the lobby would be open to outside air which is humid so the entire lobby and bar areas were the same. Couldn't escape the humidity unless inside the room, enclosed restaurants, or entertainment hall. The food was good, the pool was a little too warm to feel refreshed but the beach and ocean were perfect to relax and swim in to feel refreshed. The staff was very helpful and my room was cleaned everyday. If you leave a little tip for housekeeping they'll go the extra mile for you. If not you will still have a clean room but might have to ask to get the fridge and bar restocked. These employees don't make very much and rely on our tips. Id suggest always having cash on hand for all and any staff that goes out of their way to help you. Buy your excursions from the staff inside the resort and avoid any outside street con artist as they are there. Always take enough cash to avoid using the ATM's as they will cost you way more than any of us want to pay. Overall Cancun is beautiful place to vacation, we weren't quite prepared for the humidity but we made the most out of it. I think next time we would try to shoot for a lobby area that is enclosed and has a/c going unless I'm hanging out at the beach or pool area. We were told by a local that because it is a Caribe, that it means Caribbean so they want the entire environment to have the feeling. Hope this helps out future first timers.

Great value

Great value for the money. Great entertainment every day and beach was very nice. The pool was too warm to enjoy swimming but with the beach so close it didn’t matter. There were many options for dining but the food for the most part was bland. The bartenders and staff were amazing!!

Great time

We stayed for 3 nights. It’s at least 40 minutes from the airport with traffic (if you do a shared trip) but overall we had great time! I’ve stayed at other RIUs and this one was good but it definitely wasn’t has nice as the others. Our room was just an average room with some new paint and a partial ocean view. Nothing special about it. The pool was well kept and the staff was great! Everyone was very friendly and ready to help. The beach was very clean and we enjoyed it the most. The drinks were typical all inclusive drinks. We tried to order “top shelf “ but not really sure that’s what we were getting. We enjoy good drinks lol The food was bland. We would’ve like to have seen more fresh, authentic Mexican food options and not just deli ham and cheeses with some fruit. The sushi place was not good. It was a buffet style and was not very fresh or appetizing. The mexican and steakhouse were better but still bland.Overall for the convenience and price we would come back to this one or at least upgrade to the RIU peninsula so we could enjoy both places.
