Staff lacks customer service
My daughter became sick during the trip and threw up in the room. I used the towels to clean it up due to me being unable to reach the front desk for assistance. Later that night a bill was left on the bed where I was being charged to replaced the towels that I used to clean the floor. The manager that I spoke with was very rude and lack customer service skills. I ended up paying for one towel, however when I went to check out they tried to charge me again anfd called me a liar because the night manger did not put a note in the system. They held me up and I almost missed my scheduled transportation to the airport. I had my receipt of what I paid and they took it from me. The drinks were very watered down and not worth drinking. Security gave one of my daughters a hard time because she had her wristband on a different had than her sister so he did not see it. Majority of the staff was rude and unapproachable. There was a greeter or welcome comittee that made me feel very uncomfortable because I did not want to go to the sister resort for a presentation.

Our second time was even better
Occidental is a great value choice in Cancun. The overall resort is clean and service is very good. The food choices are average but we always found options we enjoyed for all 3 meals and for snacks. The room size is better than most for the area. The pool is a solid 9/10 for size and chairs (wish people wouldn't hold chairs for hours they are not using ... this is rude). The beach is not ideal, but nice to lay out, walk in water, and enjoy drinks for beach bar. For me location is not important since I dont go off property for long at an all-inclusive so I can get maximum value. We walked in morning and night every day on beach and main road and felt very safe with lots of people and police presence. This resort is about 1/3 less money than comparable which allows us to save money or stay longer.

Beautiful setting Disappointing food.
This was the first stay in Occidental Hotels and while the experience was very price friendly, the grounds well kept, however, the food was repetitious and of lower quality than in previous stays at all inclusive resorts. The check-in lines and check out lines were more than 30 minutes and if you needed to stop by the desk it was a time killer. We could only get into a restaurant one night of seven and the food that night was also disappointing. Husbands T-bone thin and tough, my lasagna had a unique cream sauce, brownie was hard as a rock. Bar had no chocolate for granddaughters virgin mud slide request (her favorite drink on vacation). They did have chocolate in bar for those who bought into vacation club, just not for us folks who didn't. That seemed a bit petty. Will go back to paying more for the resort to get better food and equality in chocolate! Came home with the most bug bites ever, although it might be that we visited in June. Take something to ward off bugs.

Amazing vacation! Thanks to Jessica the pool concierge and Isabel the CocoBongo Rep!
We had an amazing experience at Occidental Costa Cancun. Thank you to Jessica the pool concierge who was amazing and super helpful. Also to Isabel the CocoBongo representative who was very accomodating and showed us a great time at the beach party as well as the CocoBongo show! We would definitely do it again and we highly recommend. The pool staff was also amazing and made our experience there feel like a real vacation. Cant wait to go back!

Need Improvment
Improve booking of restaurants to online instead of having to go to lobby & check for availability. Repair AC & door locks. Improve also the quality of snack bar food. The housekeeping and waiter service was great.
