Great location, value and service!
This was such a nice getaway weekend. It was close to the airport. The water was gorgeous! All the employees were so friendly and happy. It was great having a coffee, icecream place that was always open. It was also great that fhe vendors were not in your face always trying to sell. We also loved the free kayaking!
My only suggestion is that it is time to repaint the rooms and hallways with some fresh paint. The rooms were kind of scuffed up and a nice white coat of paint would make a huge difference!
We have been to this resort at least 10 times. It is not a 5 star resort, but you aren't paying for a 5 star. We come here just to relax and unwind by the pool and the beach. The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner is good if you are willing to try new things; which we do. There is always a pasta bar made to order for those that are picky. There are several restaurants available, a beach snack bar and several bars. The staff is laid back and ready to serve you and have fun while doing it. If you have children, there is a waterslide, a pirate boat and activities daily. We stay at the adult pool where children aren't allowed. We love the fact that you don't have to dress for dinner. You can wear shorts and don't have to pack anything fancy if you don't want to. The spa provides great service. The resort is only about 10 minutes from the airport!! We will be back! We look forward to the Jerk Chicken from Beach snack bar every year!
This was a good place to go for a first time visitor of Jamaica. Not knowing what else was out there. Hotel is dated and needs maintenance. Resort staff was very polite and helpful. Could not have asked for nicer people. Food choices were very limited and expected there to be seafood on buffet at night.
My family and I stayed at Sunscape through booking the "Mystery Deal" on Cheap Caribbean. You were supposed to be guaranteed a 4-star stay at one of the listed hotels, however there is no way Sunscape is a 4-star hotel, by any means. I was quite disappointed when we were assigned this option. Anywho, I tried to be agood sport about it and just go with the flow.
Upon arriving, we had a fairly seamless check-in process, it wasn't long and the gentlemen helping us was very nice. However, literally two seconds after we received our room keys, we were pushed to another table to hear about timeshare/resort options. We politely declined and fast. After being up since 5am, no one wants to sit through that.
We stayed in the tower at one of the higher floors. Our view was nice, but the room itself was very old. The furniture, the bedding, the bathroom all look like they are from the 90s. There is literally nothing new about this hotel. EVERYTHING needs to be modernized. The beds are extremely firm too. Also, our mini bar was not stocked until the second day we were there.
The food at Sunscape was just ok. There were some highlights with the Gohan Restaurant and Portofino Restaurant, but the grill options were so limited and I can say from experience that the cheeseburger there is not my cup of tea. The buffet was ok, it did have some good options and some that just weren't my cup of tea.
The bar didn't have any top shelf liquor that I recognized and the best drink I got was a Miami Vice.
The beachfront is subpar. The shore is very rocky and hard to walk on barefoot. There are no waves. Also, the pool is missing tiles.
Finally, I would remiss if I didn't mention that no one at this resort has a sense of urgency, everything is I'll get to it when I do. I found myself waiting for long times for requested items/things. The check-out process was a dread as well.
One high note, the employees around the resort were kind, polite and cheeful.
Even though our resort was lackluster, the trip itself was great. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time at the resort this option may work for you. We spent a lot of time on excursions and visiting other beaches.

Was this formally Sunset beach resort?10 answers
Is there a gazebo or pier that will allow us to see fish?

Yes, this was formally Sunset beach resort, but was re-branded as the Sunscape Splash Montego Bay. For the most up to date information regarding fish interaction, please check with the resort directly . Their international phone number is: 876-979-8800.
TimCC
Was formerly Beaches. Not sure about name many moons ago
trluxcs
Yes is was sunset and there are barrier rocks to climb and snorkeling very close to coral reefs
Gingerspice
Yes it was the Sunset beach, and they have natural rock formations but you can't see any fish.
floser
There are plenty of places you can see fish in the cove areas. Take some bread from breakfast bar. Best area is down near the beach bar. Lots of fish not even knee deep that you can feed.
Rock formation and walls but no dock. Nice Gazebo in Cove area that I think anyone can take pictures in.
Chirp
Yes I believe so
LoriS0417
No pier. This is the best you will get. We saw a live starfish in the tall grasses.
GinnyK
yes, this was formerly Sunset, and you can see quite a few fish right in the water on the beaches, not sure about from any gazebo, or if there even was one. There is also pretty good snorkeling right from the beach at the resort.
tonyh
Yes,
Billskitcat
Yes it was. Fish are easy to find and sea shells are around also. We found a star fish in shallow water!

No, not all of them. Some of them you have to be a sun club member to go to.
TheTravelingNoodle
yes all except the sunsavers members which is one at dinner and one at lunch is included. tho they open different ones each night
Quimberly
Only 3 were included with splash. When we went to the cove side they told us 25 per person to eat there. If you stay at cove then you can go to all restaurants,
LoriS0417
An Asian and an Italian restaurant, the open air buffet, and a poolside grill were all we found.
GinnyK
On any given day, there is only 1 buffet restaurant choice for breakfast and lunch. There is usually 2 options for dinner - 1 buffet and 1 regular restaurant. There is a small cafe with small pre made wraps, coffee, and ice cream open all the time. There is always another restaurant for sun club members but I guess that is like a VIP option.

There is a company right on site that will take you wherever you need to go!
travellingqueen
No, its off the beach at resort.
AngelaB65
They have amenities at the resort: Kayak, parasailing & snorkel.
I brought my own snorkel. Water is calm and warm. You can snorkel to the reefs which is not far of a swim from the beach.
Subicbay
no,you go right from the beach
auntmo50
There is good snorkeling and diving right from the beach at the resort, and there is even a dive company with their own boat right at the resort (Kelly's Watersports). They will take you out to the marine waterpark right from the resort, or you can venture off the beach on your own, if you have your own equipment, and the diving/snorkeling is pretty good.
tonyh
No just talk to the front desk u can get shuttle
Teha
No, you can walk down to the beach and the dive boat is right on property.

Is this resort appropriate for a couple looking to relax?10 answers
Leaving 4 kids at home and looking to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Love kids but not wanting to be overrun by them. But also not looking for the party scene that some resorts may center around. What is the general atmosphere? Is there space for relaxation without too much noise?
3 years, 39 months ago
MamaJackie
There are occasional parties on the beach, but there are plenty of serene places at the resort where one can relax with a drink or a book.
Porsche
Hi MamaJackie,
We have never had so bad vacation in our life as the trip in BeLive Punta Cana. Bad service, the rude guest service Eduardo, the black mold spots in the room, the leaking roof, the pool on the floor after the rain, the insects (fly) on the food in the dinning area, the noise parties in the pool after 1am every night.. Please don't stay in this place!!! Congratulation with your 20th anniversary!
NancyPuntaCana2015
Absolutely!!!
We traveled with another couple. We were both there for our anniversaries.
njbillk
Went with my gf (we are mid-20s) and were pleasantly surprised at the calm and relaxing environment at Atlantis. All types of age groups were present, but majority were couples between 30-45. Not a lot of kids there, definitely not overwhelming amount. There is not a strong party culture, and instead it's predominantly relax-by-the-pool-type atmosphere, drinking island drinks and listening to Caribbean music. If you want to head to downtown (e.g. Tiki Bikini Hut), you can find a few outdoor beach parties, but generally not the case at Atlantis.
Requan
As this is a very family friendly resort with a water park on property, there is normally plenty of kids around. We would recommend an adults only property for a relaxing couples vacation.
SalCC
Absolutely!
travellingqueen
Congratulations on your anniversary! Yes, there is an adults only section that has a swim-up pool bar. It is generally people who are 40+ and the "party scene" dies down around 10:30pm when the bars close. We had no trouble sleeping.
Lindseroo42
There is an adults only pool that was nice for relaxing. And the small beach area is nice and quiet. Not a party scene hotel at all.
Beachybeings
This would be perfect- three pools- not a big party spot but definitely fun- music and entertaining is very good! not overridden by kids as they stayed near the water park
Jq37
Yes, there is a place to "keep your distance" from kiddos, and there is no party scene at all for the night time.

The resort does offer spa treatments for an additional amount. As the rates are offered at the resort and may change at any time, please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding spa treatments. Their international phone number is: 876-979-8800.
TimCC
yes varies but I think somewhat expensive--my wife went--I paid.
trluxcs
The spa. is not included. The cost varies on the length of time and the type of spa treatment you are seeking. Prices range from $85-145.00
Winterescaper
No, they give you a $40.00 coupon but for a typical 60 min Swedish massage, will run you around $120.
floser
No it is not. It ranges depending on what you want. They gave us a bunch of vouchers that were $10 and $20 off that you could use for the spa which helped a bit.
TheTravelingNoodle
The spa was not included in the price. Prices vary by service. We did a 50 minute deep tissue massage for $150 and a 50 minute swedish massage for $140. I had the crown of my hair put in braids for $48.
bobdi75
Around $150 per person for an hour-give or take a little.
JoeFr
Not included, prices are at least double than in the states.
LoriS0417
Spa is at an additional cost. Prices varied $40-$200
Myopinion15
No it's not included it's separate and it cost about $90/session
AngieHalo
The spa is not included, and the prices were way above normal for massages, Ie' 189 for 60 minute and 220 for 80 minute massages. Of course they have a daily discount that still means you are paying a ridiculous amount of money for the same massage you could get elsewhere for 50-80 dollars depending on where you go and if using a groupon. My best friend ended up getting a great massage on the beach in Negril when we left the property for only $1/minute!!
Beachgirl911
Yes. It's actually even with the "free coupon" 3x more than the $65 I pay for a 55 mins massage. It was $345 for my daughter and I. I was getting a deep tissue and she was getting a Swedish for 55 mins each and even after the coupon it brought it down to $265 DOLLARS. Ha! Smh

yes, the resort has free wifi. We turned off our mobile data on our phones and therefore when you are at the resort you use there wifi, they give you the password when you check in.

Yes the hotel has wifi. Far from free. You can pay hourly or $30 for 5 days for 1 device.
christda
They have wifi in the main lobby, but it is terrible. It comes in and out and is slow. So what, you're on vacation....put your electronics away.
privateshrink
Yes, WI-FI is available. Price (Dec 2015) was 5 USD per hour, 7 USD per day or 30 USD per 5 days.

Yes, the resort does have free wifi! When you check in, the staff at the front desk will provide you with a password in order to access the free (basic) wifi in your room. They have wifi. It is not free. And it sucks. It doesn't work at many spots around the hotel. And it cuts in and out in spots where it does work.

There is a separate company on the beach that rents jetskis.
TMBL
I didn't see the jetski rentals AT Taino Beach Resort and certainly not from the marina of Flamingo Bay - HOWEVER - just a little way up from the resort is Junkanoo Beach Club and you can rent them from there. (This is still Taino Beach but you cannot walk there along the beach FROM the resort.)
AzToniT
Yes you can. There were 4 available while I was there. They also use them to bring the scuba divers to the pontoon boat that waits offshore beyond the surf break.

What are the bathrooms in the guest suites like?10 answers
How big are the bathroom in the guest suites? Are there granite countertops? What is the shower like? Do you have any pictures of the bathrooms?
3 years, 37 months ago
Sunscape Splash Resort, Montego Bay, Jamaica
Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding bathroom layout. Their international phone number is: 876-979-8800. You could also check online for photos such as Trip Advisor.
TimCC
The bathrooms are nice enough with ceramic tile floors and a nice sink and shower. One aggravation is that they do not have recirculating hot water, so it took a LONG time to get hot water on the 7th floor. It is good and hot when it finally gets there, however.
xraytech
If you get a renovated room, the bathrooms have been updated. Not granite, but recently done over. On the Cove side it is a walk in shower with an oversized Rainfall shower head. If you are on the Splash side (Towers), then it is still a tub/shower combo.
JusttheFacts
Our bathroom at the main resort area was not that big but was clean. We upgraded to the Cove and the bathroom there had an ant problem that never got completely resolved. Not that big of a deal as we were out of the room all day/night and pretty much just in the room to sleep. But still, you pay for an upgrade......
Geeman
Average size bathroom with tub, plenty comfortable. Water pressure was an issue but it could have just been an issue with our room. Countertops are not granite they are stone. Shampoo and shower gel included.
TreeKi2016
The bathrooms are 8 x 5. The countertops were updated to granite, but he shower and tub were older. We didn't mind as we spent such minimal time in our rooms and it was clean which was more important to us.
Winterescaper
When you say "guest suites", I am assuming you are distinguishing from the standard room or the cabana rooms, which we know nothing about. The bathroom in our suite was sizeable. It had the toilet, a large shower and a spa that comfortably held two people. The shower is tiled on two walls and the other two walls are glass, with a door. There are two dispensers in the shower, one for shampoo and one for body-wash gel, plus a small rack for holding razor, shave cream, whatever. The water pressure is not very great, but it's sufficient. We did not take photographs of the suite.
The sink for brushing teeth, applying make-up and so forth is in a separate room/alcove, in between the bedroom and the bathroom. It's smallish, but not terribly so. It does have a granite counter top.
The counter top in the kitchen is formica. Note, please, that when I say "kitchen", it's not really a kitchen — meaning, there isn't any stove or microwave. Just a refrigerator, sink, coffee pot and cabinet with glasses and cups in it. More like a wet bar, I suppose, than a kitchen.
Sojourner
Fairly large bathroom, but only one sink/vanity. The bathtub/shower was of average size. Nothing fancy , just functional. No granite counter tops. The one annoying thin is that the light switch was outside the bathroom...weird. Sorry I did not get a picture.
GinnyK
We didn't have a suite
Jake17
I was not in a guest suite. I was in a bay view room.
Jake17
I just returned from Sunscape Splash, at least in the suite that we stayed the bathroom had no granite countertops. The bathroom has the shower, the toilet and a decent size sink for one person. If you are taller than probably 6' 2" you might find the shower a little to low. Bathrooms were very clean.
MrRabbit
The bathrooms are below par. Lack of hot water is an ongoing problem. the countertops are old and the shower head was very clogged up

You have to pay for it, they offer you to pay $100 a night for the upgrade but I negotiated it to $60/night
Beachgirl911
you need to upgrade to the Sunscape Cove Resort in order to become a sun club member.
Anniversarycouple30
You call the resort to update your booking or can do it in your check in process.
ShanDanwisconsin
I have been there the last 4 years in a row and have never real heard of it. We stay on the better Cove side which has better liquor(top grade Appleton and Skye Vodka) and its all sit down all inclusive. We always book the cheaper Splash side and then contact the resort directly and pay for the Cove side upgrade. Contact lclarke@sunscaperesorts.com who is the Cove manager and she should be able to help you. Also Oscar Ramirez is the whole resort General Manager and his email is probably oscarramirez@sunscaperesorts.com or just the oram...com might work. Good luck - its amazing.

You have to purchase their vacation club.

Shuttle to and from any resort, from the airport....should book as an add on to the trip. Stayed at one resort where THEY covered the transfers to and from, not even sure if anyone does that anymore. Cabs are plentiful, and drivers are polite and knowledgeable, but costs can vary. Lock in when booking. Bags and transport are handled...tip accordingly... no worries

Both sides have restaurants

Both. But if you stay at Splash you have to pay to eat at Cove restaurants.

Do I really need water shoes?10 answers
Is the beach/water rocky or full of seaweed?
3 years, 36 months ago
NH
the beach is sandy to about 6 feet from shore. some places the sand goes out farther. and some places the seaweed is coming through the sand. I wouldn't think you would need shoe.
donkacey
not much seaweed rocky in a few spot but not bad
latinkid92
The beach isnt long. There is seaweed on the sand but one can step over it. Since you are asking, I would suggest that you bring them along.
Angie2233
You may bring water shoes, please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding beach coarseness.
TimCC
YES bring water shoes, I wish I had. there is plenty of beach to choose from the furthest beach down the resort was usually the best.
Lauren04
Water shoes is unnecessary for the beach...But you will need water shoes if you plan on going to Dunns River Falls...I also wore water shoes when I went riding on ATVS and zipling, bc it was convenient, and you need closed toe shoes for all, and they're easy to clean.
SimplyMeD
Not a necessity unless you want to climb the barrier rocks. Lots of sandy beach but there are rocks closer to the coral reefs which are close enough to snorkel...shallow water
Gingerspice
If you plan on swimming in the ocean, I recommend water shoes. The beaches are ok for walking on but there are crabs in the ocean and we did see many people getting pinched on their feet by them. There are parts of the area that has seaweed, but a large section does not
rnjx3
Beach has seaweed and rocks. I would definitely wear water shoes.
Beachybeings
yes, the beach has quite a bit of seaweed when you go out a little ways and also it is rocky in spots.

Is snorkling free at the sunscape splash?10 answers
Is there an extra charge to snorkel? OR should I bring my own?
ALSO, should I bring a tube/float for the lazy river or are there plenty to use in February?
3 years, 36 months ago
NH
no charge, lazy river has tubes. didn't get one so I don't know that is a fee. I don't think there would be.
donkacey
Snorkeling is included, but supplies are limited so whether you want to bring your own or not is up to you. I will say despite it being limited, there always seemed to be some available. As far as the floats. There were only about 5 or 6 for the whole resort, so I would bring one of those. The people at the towel hut did offer to blow them up for people who brought their own.
lemarks
YES, YES, YES
latinkid92
The resort does offer snorkeling for an additional amount. As the rates are offered at the resort and may change at any time, please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding snorkeling and lazy river tubes/flotation devices.
TimCC
There are snorkel tours on the resort which I believe you have to sign up for - definitely bring a float with you they are first come first serve and not enough.
Lauren04
I would say bring your own . We bought one there as I didn't want my mouth on the one that a total stranger used. They do clean them but I wasn't taken any chances.
Deniece
Snorkelling is free and they do it twice a day at 10am and 1pm.
They have tubes at the lazy river and you can also buy one on the resort if you want your own.
LAI86
There is no extra charge for snorkeling. You don't need to bring your own. There were plenty of tube/floats if you didn't mind waiting a few minutes.
Winterescaper
Yes all non motorized water activity's
steeleheart
You do not have to pay extra, but bring your own anyway. They will not let you go out to the reef without them, but you could snorkel closer to the beach by yourself.

Is the ocean area deep enough to swim or only wade in?10 answers
Wondering if there will be areas neck deep (I'm 5'4") or if it's knee deep everywhere we are able to go.
3 years, 36 months ago
NH
There are plenty of spots that are on the deeper side and you can easily swim. We stayed on the Splash side and walked over to the beach right in front of the Cove side. Warning: while we were staying there we have heavy rains pretty much daily, which caused large waves. This also causes disruption under the water and all of the little creatures that live there. My husband was stung by a sea urchin and had to have the spines removed by a doctor at the resort. Apparently this is common knowledge with the locals, but they didn't share. So, be sure to wear some water shoes and you should be fine!
ShinFin
The beaches are very swimmable with snorkeling available.
schof84
Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding a swimmable beach. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.

SimplyMeD

Gingerspice
You can swim as far out as you want- the beach is beautiful
Jq37
There are some shallow areas.
JoeFr
The water was perfect temperature and depth, gradual as you walk out but definitely deep enough to swim and safely surrounded by a coral reef "fence"

Clipperqueen89
It ranges everywhere. It really actually doesn't get too deep unless you get very far out.

Hilton at Rose Hall10 answers
We have booked our family vacation for the last week of May 2016 (May 28th thru June 4th) on the deal of fortune thru CheapCaribbean. when we first booked, the Sunscape splash was rated a 4.0 resort by CheapCaribbean, at that time there were no reviews posted by customers. However, since the initial offer there has numerous posting of customer rating Sunscape Splash more as a 3.0 not a 4.0 resort. Our other options were the Riu Montego Bay, the Hilton at Rose Hall and the Ibeostar. My question is: Is it fair to have Sunscape Splash listed as a compatible option to these other resorts that are in fact 4 star resorts? How can we insure we receive a 4.0 resort? This is not our first vacation thru CheapCaribbean and we have always had great results. Our family is a little worried about this trip. Thanks for listening , Tom.

Spot
Hello, please contact our customer service agents at 1800-915-2322 we will be able to help further assist you.
Thank you.
bthornton
The other options are more reputed properties and have a more renown brand. I've stayed at Riu, Montego Bay and I preferred Sunscape. Sunscape is more laid back and is family friendly, so I guess it depends on what you like. Either way, I think you will enjoy yourself.
Nikkiguy
I just got back from visiting Sunscape Splash and just rated it 4.0 on my review. While there is still a little construction going on, it is no big distraction and it seemed almost finished to me, so may not be an issue for you.
The resort was really nice, clean, not overcrowded, and the beach seemed great to me, although this was my first trip to Jamaica so I don't have much to compare it to. I think the negative reviews are exaggerated. We got a little worried ourselves when Sunscape Splash was revealed (we also did Deal of Fortune and I think hoped for the other options based on the reviews). I think a lot of people are just really persnickety and determined not to be pleased. Hopefully you have a more laid-back personality!
One great thing about it as opposed to the other ones is the more quiet location out on the peninsula, rather than on the other side of the airport. It was really lovely there.
One thing I did write in my review is that we found the evening meal options lackluster (to say the least) and so ended up going off resort most nights to find amazing seafood. It was not difficult to arrange a taxi to do so (and the yacht club across the street is fantastic for a seafood meal) and we paid so little for the all-inclusive that it did not feel wasteful to buy dinner. We even ended up spending a night in Negril with no qualms about also paying for our Sunscape room while staying in a different hotel.
Hope that helps! Enjoy your trip!
jrf25
We just came back and actually asked the exact same question but could not change resorts without a SUBSTANTIAL increase in our price. We had a nice stay at Sunscape and have travelled to many 4 and 5 star resorts. This, in our opinion, is not comparable with the other resorts listed as "possibilities". We had a regular guest room and they are in need of updating and there is much construction happening. However, I would not hesitate to take a family as the kids area and activities seemed alright. We didn't have ours kids this time but we felt it would meet their needs. Was not a party scene hotel. The smaller atmosphere was also nice. Price was good. Just thought it was a bit misleading.
Beachybeings
No, Sunscape Splash is not comparable to Rose Hall as a 4 star resort. I have been to both, but based on price and the experience I would definitely go back to Sunscape Splash before ever going back to Rose Hall. It really depends on how important the 4 star is to you compared to the great time and experience.
Winterescaper
I was wondering the same thing when I booked because of previous reviews, this has been the most fun resort we have stayed at- we vacation yearly, my daughter is nine, it is safe, never ending things to do, kids loved the water park, entertainment, clean beaches, ping pong, games, music, tennis, games, snorkeling and kiayakjng on site, staff was proffesional and fun- music, dining- all good-great resort- the only thing I don't rate a five is the room- but for the price you can't beat it because we were never in the room so it didn't matter- room wasn't horrible- I'll give it a four- fun was definitely a five- don't go in with a bad attitude!
Jq37
I just returned from Sunscape Splash as part of the Deal of Fortune. I had done my research and figured that is the resort we would get because it is the lowest quality of the four choices. It definitely wasn't bad and we still enjoyed ourselves but it was definitely closer to a 3-star than a 4-star.
explorerem
Sunscape is not a 4 suns resort. I called CheapCaribbean and I was told that if you do not like the selection you'll receive a week in advance you departure, you can change it, but pay additional costs. THAT IS NOT FAIR... the deal guarantees a 4 suns hotel
The other 3 hotels are much, much better than Sunscape. I wish we can do something to get Sunscape removed from the Deal of Fortune. We paid a lot for our vacation and we got a mediocre 3 stars resort. It's first time when I chose CheapCaribbean and we and we are very dissapointed
Vacationdreamer
Sorry, I don't think you will find the right answer. Every one will answer according to their likes and dislikes. I was excited that I did not miss Mother Angelica farewell (I am catholic) their channels list were perfect for me. They have a buffet for breakfast and lunch that has everything you would want and there is 3 other restaurants for dinner... seafood, italian....There are no activities really at night...no clubs...I wanted to rest so it didn't matter to me but it would have been an issue if I went with my 16-22 years old kids. The beach was too calm for me so I used the water slides for some excitement...I am in my 50's. I am used to beaches I leave in Fl.
The resort is cleaned, rooms are spacious....
Jacklin
It is unfair and should not be part of the "4-Star" rated resort because we are paying for a 4-Star not a three star. I to did the deal of fortune and got that deal to Sunscape Splash Resort people smoke everywhere! There is a smoking area but they do not follow rules and the establishment allows it. Nothing is 24hours except a CocoCafe that always runs out of ice cream nothing but tiny bite size dessert. Cheapcaribbean should include another 4star resort and take this one out!
Jerseygal11
Try to get free upgrade or very reasonable upgrade to cove. We were able to get it for way less than half of their original offer and got beach front fully remodeled room. Maybe call Cheap Carribean stating your concern and request the Cove area without upcharge.

Didn't ask the hotel because I was told that Jamaica doesn't allow pets in so the airlines cannot have you fly there with them. I wish they did. I missed by Yorkie who had to stay with my mom which prevent me from having a full family vacation which we easily have when vacationing in the US and Canada. They can at least give a size limit but most Carribbean island has this problem, including Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago. Not certain what can be done for service animals.

I'm unsure about how many singles are at the resort, but I would say it is geared more towards families. If I were a single, or even as a couple, I would probably go to a different resort.
tonyh
Probably not the best place for a single man, resort is filled with families.
Billskitcat
I think this is more of a family oriented resort. Not a lot of night life, but super if you just want a nice relaxing vacation.
Barbsm
I love it as a family resort, but I saw couples and single groups (not alone singles) enjoying themselves. It's not a party time resort for singles as things seem more geared to couples and families and not for the singles at the resort to know each other. Even the groups are not all singles unless you talk to confirm as some are married friends vacationing apart from their spouse. You do have the excursions on party cruises to meet others (hopefully from your hotel).
CityDweller
Not really, it's more of a family resort. There did seem to be some groups of young people that behaved like they were on spring break.

Unfortunately travel insurance can only be added within 24 hours of booking your reservation. You can, however, look into third party insurance companies. Sometimes even the credit card used can have built in travel insurance policies.

Do we pay for infants when we choose vacation package?5 answers
I'm traveling with an infant (7m old). When i try to book for All inclusive package it charges for infant too. There is no air fare for infants traveling on lap either, should i not mention infant in search?
2 years, 26 months ago

This is due to the fact that our website takes the total reservation cost and divides it by the total number of people regardless of whom being charged what. So while the charge for the infant would be minimal (airlines do usually charge infant tax and the resort may have a cost), it would look like they're being charged more when this isn't the case. For a more thorough explanation, please call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our Beach Experts.

The only way to get sun club upgrade is if you can get a room in the Sunscape cove. There were no rooms available when we went so we couldn't upgrade. Someone else said they upgraded and it was expensive. Not sure about the cost.

Will you need to show ID if dining at the Cove??5 answers
I hear the restaurants at Splash are included but may have long lines. I want to ensure we are not charged if we go. I have 2 kids and want to make sure if they decide to go eat to the hotel next door they have enough $ to dine. 1 is underage and I hold his passport and stuff. Don't want them to be turned away if they don't carry our itinerary or check in info from splash if that makes sense. The parents would have that. At check in are we given wrist bands for the kids to eat at any restaurant? I have picky eaters. Thanks for any help in advance

TimCC
That should not be a problem. The Cove has access to all of Splash but not vice versa. The resorts are directly adjacent to each other.
Pittsburgher
The Cove requires you have a black key card that will give you access to 2 restaurants at that location. I believe this card is granted to individuals staying specifically on the Cove side and/or repeat guests. The eateries at the Splash were accessible to all and the lines were longest at 6:00 when the specialty restaurants opened. Other wise there was plenty of open seating in the area that accommodated the buffet and the little snack shop. There were no wristbands given to any of the guests upon arrival
Trippin
We stayed at the Splash and did eat over at the Cove one night. We were told it would be extra if we wanted to eat there. We went with a travel agent friend staying over there so she got us in free. She did not have a wristband but I imagine they asked for her room number to ensure she was a Cove guest. I will be honest and tell you that you would be better off upgrading to stay at the Cove. We just returned from the Splash and we weren't impressed. The food, even at the restaurants, are very mediocre and yes, there can be up to a two hour wait to get in to any of them. Seaside grill was the better of the 3. Co e guests can access all Splash ones plus two of their own which they alternate each night. There's an Italian one and then the Terrace. The Italian one was the open one the night we went. I believe the Terrace is the one you can eat at for breakfast each morning or you can go to the Splash buffet. Cove rooms and buildings are way nicer too. You can negotiate an upgrade price when you check in. Hope that helps.
CanAmFam
We just returned from Sunscape Splash and yes, the lines at the three restaurants are long. There is no charge. Lines start forming around 5:30'sh and if you don't get in on the first setting, you will wait around an hour or so to eat. My suggestion id that you get in line early and you will get in on the first seating. The buffet is very good and has a good variety of offers along with a "kids section" with foods that kids will enjoy. There is also a seaside grill that offers burgers, hot dogs, jerk chicken, grilled cheese sandwiches and others that is very good also. We ate there several times for lunches. We stayed at the main complex, but I don't think that there is any problem eating at any restaurant as long as you are a guest at Splash. Don't know about any extra charges if you are staying at the Cove. Don't think so At check-in, there are no bracelets issued
My best suggestion is to plan ahead as much as you can

nearest casino?5 answers

There is a mini casino at the resort (similar to the ones you find on a cruise ship). There's also an arcade for children!
JLDZ
Currently the nearest Casino would be Caribbean Treasures. There really aren't a lot of options for Casinos in Jamaica as this is not a particularly gambling-friendly destination.

Deal of Fortune5 answers
Is it fair to have Sunscape Splash listed as an option compared to these other resorts, which are in fact 4 star resorts? Sunscape Splash appears to be more of a 3.0 star not a 4.0 star resort. How can we insure that we receive a 4.0 resort (the other options)? This is not our first vacation through CheapCaribbean or our firstdeal of fortune and we have always had a great experience. But we are nervous about this trip

Sunscape Splash Montego Bay is rated as a 4-sun property on our website, these ratings are based on other resorts within the area. For more information, please call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our beach experts.
JeannieCC
I book often with Cheap Caribbean and visit Montego Bay several times a year. We decided to select the deal of fortune option for the first time as well for our trip that took place from 3/24-28. The resort that was selected for us was the SunScape Splash and it was AWFUL, absolutely AWFUL. They should never have it ranked in the same category at the other possible hotels. I just hope your experience will be better than mine. This was the first time that I could not wait to leave that resort.
Weary
I have talked to 3-4 couples who bought deal of fortune and ended up here. I posted a review today. Call cheapcarribbean.com and find another place.
Zeed
I am worried that if I make a fuss they will intentional put us there. I don't want to make a wave. We did a deal of fortune last year and it was amazing, the best trip we have ever been on. I know it says everywhere nothing can be done to change your resort. So we are just praying and crossing our fingers.
AMJ323
It is not fair. Sunscape Splash is a 2.0 - 3.0 star resort. We received Sunscape Splash and wish we wouldn't have done the Deal of Fortune because of it.

Is there a bar on the beach to get drinks from?5 answers
I see there is a swim up by bar, pool bar and 3 lobby bars. Are there any bars or drink services on the beach?

New HAmpshire
This resort does not have any bars on the beach, however the Sunscape Cove does have a bar there but drinks may come at an additional cost as the Cove is the upgraded sister property.
JeannieCC
Scarce wait service on the beach. No bar.
WhiteSheep
No bars on the beach but there are people that do come around and serve you. Bring a lot and I mean a lot of one dollar bills.
Royanne
Yes down by the Cove. It is to your far right as you face the ocean.
JBJB17
Yes, at the far end however someone passes by to bring you drinks on the beach. Not at the pools though, there is a swimup bar at the adult pool.

You can either stand outside of the gate for 30 minutes, pay for an "evening pass" which means they have to leave by 2am...or pay to add them to the room and they can stay the entire night.
Yecats20
Yes. If they visit for just an hour or so, they came come over for free. If they want to stay a whole day, you can purchase a day pass for them.
HartNation
If you want to have guest that are not on the reservation they will have to buy a faily pass which is $75 (i think) a day per extra person.
TaraTravels
Yes guess are allowed for a price of $90 per day

No I think half or even free as long as they are staying in the same room. Not totally sure
DoreKnob
no its half or even less as long as you share a room. But you should book a flight and accomodations together to get a better price. Try Deal of Fortune Montego Bay usually you end up at Sunscape.
