Fun in the sun

We have been to the Riu Negril six times and have had a great experience every time. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. We love the location and the lay out of the resort. We also like that you can be at the pool and still see the ocean and beach. the entertainment staff does a fantastic job of making you have a good time. They are always working and asking what you need and just visitng with you. We would highly recommend this place. Have always had good luck working with Cheap Caribbean . Even when we have had issues with our flight .

We stayed for a week in February 2020. I'll start with the good The food was surprisingly good for an all inclusive- we didn't have a bad meal at all. The waiters and waitresses were all very nice and good at their jobs. Everything was kept very clean and the grounds were lovely. The beach is okay but the water isn't clear and the sand out in the water felt mushy-like pudding or something! Gross!. If you walk around the bend the beach and water is beautiful in front of the other resorts. We got a lot of bug bites at the beach too. I've never experienced no-seeums at a resort before but they were there. Lastly, the front desk customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. We had to call several times for things such as water and were told there was no one there to bring it, but we could come get it if we wanted it. They didn't care at all about taking care of their guests. We definitely won't stay there again and they left a bad taste for all RIU resorts for our group of four.

Good Times

Just spent 7 nights at the Riu and was not disappointed. Property is large and spread out, but everything is easily accessible. We never had any issues finding open chairs on the beach or at any of the pools. The beach is nicely shaded by trees in some areas so you can get out of the sun for a bit if you like. There is always a bar in sight so you won't get thirsty. Just past the resort on the beach you will find 15-20 local vendors with small "store front huts" selling all kinds of souvenirs and things. The people are great and super friendly. If you look, you can pick up some pretty neat handmade items. All in all it was a great trip and would go back to the Riu again.

The worst....

I will neverrrrr stay at this resort again, The room was old and out dated.. No elevators at all... The food options were horrible.. No room service and nothing to eat after 10pm after the first day we went off the resort daily to eat. More for older people looking to relax than younger people looking to have fun. The staff was really nice which was the only good part of this review. Been to Jamaica several times and this by far was my worst experience. Completely done with all RIU resorts after this.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The singing bartender. See if you can find him. He'll mix you up a high-octane cocktail.

Great bang for your buck for all the activities, entertainment and food and drink you'll get.

The service at Riu is the best. They keep everything clean and orderly. You will be spoiled.

Nightly entertainment keeps the party going at night. And into the wee hours, if you must.

The sunsets off the shores of Negril are some of the best. Get your cameras charged and ready for snaps.

The infamous Rick's Cafe is not too far - the cliff divers are awe-mazing.

What We'd Change

The omelet bar is favorite in the morning. Get in line early to avoid a long wait.

Why You Should Go

Getting to Negril will take you about an hour & a half, but it's so worth it. Beachy drinks are waiting.

Grab some locally made souvenirs in town. Your friends/fam will kiss your ring upon receipt.

The restaurants at night will fill up, so make sure to make your reservations a couple of days in advance.

Beach shoes are always a good idea, especially when you want to beachcomb your way up the shores.

Pay a little extra to get upgraded Wi-Fi - it will work even on the beach. You'll def want it there.

The One Love Bus Tour will pick you up at the resort and show off all the local night spots in Negril.
