Fantastic holiday
Lovely hotel . The entertainment crew are fantastic with a big shout out to TeeTee, Charlotte & Angela. The whole team are fantastic to be honest but those 3 are special. The entertainment throughout the day , right through to the evening is outstanding. How this crew have the energy I don’t know but I respect it. The bar staff are outstanding, always greet you with a smile , shout out to all roots & exodus bar staff. Restaurant team are amazing, shout out to Christopher and Jamie ( not sure if it was Jamermiah ) always very attentive & happy to help. My special lady Denise who was in the toilet every evening making sure they are kept fully stocked & cleaned. The housekeepers are great too ! We have had the best 12 days at this resort & was so sad to leave. The neon & white parties are immense!! We had a few rainy days and some days of wind but the whole hotel , from bar staff to entertainment crew made sure you still had a fantastic time. The reggae bands were fantastic- Robert was my favourite. Pepe - the best jerk chicken ever. The la a carte restaurants are nice but the stake house was the best. Pacha night club is a good extra too - all inclusive 11-2am . The sports bar is 24hrs . My only negative- Now the only thing I didn’t like was the fact you cannot use the Riu Reggae. We stayed at the Reggae the last time we travelled and had use of both hotels. The Rui Reggae was cheaper to stay at but we thought we would pay extra to stay at the Montego. So for that reason , I would book the Reggae and use the Montego. Rui , sort it out because this doesn’t make sense. If you gave guests use of the Reggae whilst staying at the Montego , I would book this hotel again but unfortunately due to this reason, I would recommend the Reggae and use both hotels !

Was ok
Hotel and rooms are great. Clean. Friendly staff. Beach is not ideal. When we visited weather was not nice. Rainy. Storm brought in a tonne of seaweed. Regardless of storms, beach is small, not very long and ocean bottom seaweed and mushy sand. Pools are nice and clean. A bit chilly due to weather. Food was great in buffet. Did one a la carte at Sophia and would not recommend it. Basically was what the buffet offers. Seating was similar to buffet seating. Not very restaurant like. Lots of walking which was ok. This is a younger party resort. By the end of the week was tried of hearing boom boom music. Geared towards a party all the time. Make sure you bring water shoes for any excursion or going into the water on the beach. Disappointed with the weeks weather which is no fault of the resort. Just a big bummer for a beach vacation.

First time in Jamaica and will be our last.
Riu Montego Bay 11 Night Stay Promptly checked in and given bands for All inclusive. Bedroom was 013 and had a lovely ocean and pool view. Room was very big and cleaned daily. Constantly had to request fridge to be filled with soft drinks. Optics supplied in room consisted of Gordon’s Gin, Smirnoff Vodka, Red Stripe Whisky and Jamaican Rum. Food through the stay has been to a good quality. We visited the Al la Carte Restaurants for 9 of the 11 nights. We enjoyed the food and service in all restaurants. The Rose Hall is a buffet restaurant. We used this for breakfast and lunch time meals. A good variety served throughout the day. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Pool we used was the quieter pool next to the beach. There are four pools in total (not heated). The hotel in general around the pool is lively due to the entertainment supplied. Pool bar and lobby bar are usable for drinks. Tried all the cocktails apart from Dirty Banana as there are apparently no bananas for the full 11 night stay. Got sick of asking If bar tenders don’t want to make a cocktail take it off the list! The beach is small as you can walk round through a but open gated area to access the other beach but we got turfed off by the security guard. Didn’t bother going that way again. Hotel around pool/bar/beach stinks of Canabis due to the weed sellers in there little canoes just near the shoreline. The hotel doesn’t seem to care about this so the guests were smoking it on site by the pool around the bars at night. Yet they have the cheek to tell you to move if you’re just vaping? Such a backwards place to visit. Also as you leave the hotel there are drug dealers just outside the main gates trying to sell you drugs. There’s a few shops across the road that sell souvenirs and alcohol etc. The hotel is very party focused for younger crowds (I’m 42). So be prepared to see a lot of skin on show and general rowdiness. There’s a disco open till 2am. Next to mean stage in Exodus bar. So a few nights young people coming in early hours being noisy in corridors. Several power cuts over the rainy few days. Plunged in to total darkness at the bar. Fire alarms went off in room twice. Once at 1am in the morning. The hotel needs to look in to what are causing these power cuts and issues. Entertainment on a night at 9.30 was terrible it’s the entertainment team that puts them on. Micheal Jackson, Steel Band, International dancing etc. This was repeated weekly so gave up and went to bed most nights by 9.40pm. The live band on around 8.30 are very good though. We had two birthdays whilst away for myself and my partner. We had both had birthday cakes ordered by each other. Neither of the were available to collect. My mother went to collect one of them and was left waiting over 20 minutes at reception before giving up. The gent she spoke to had clearly forgotten her and moved on to check guests in. First time in Jamaica as we usually go to Mexico to the Riu hotels there. Riu Montego Bay has been a bit disappointing as we are a Gold Class Member and couldn’t even get a complementary late check out even though we emailed 8 days ahead. Bit pointless collecting points and no benefits from it here at this hotel. We won’t be returning to this hotel due to the issues and the weather (rained 4 days). We will continue using Riu as a brand as we rarely have issues. But won’t be returning to Jamaica due to this hotel and the culture.

Winter sun
AMAZING hotel. We didn't have the best weather, rain 4 out of 7 days. The entertainment team was fantastic. Supplied extra activities for all to join in. The evening shows were out of this world. High-class acts. Hotel very clean, rooms very large and comfortable. Highly recommended

Staff is warm and welcoming!
This is our 3rd Riu. We like them to be easy to get around and so on. First, your staff, wait staff, and front desk are all first-rate. My husband always has a favourite at each resort, Paula in Rose Hall, for breakfast is his new fav! What a sweetheart, always joking and smiling. As for the app, making reservations doesn't seem to work for me for the Italian, but the gal at the desk always fit us in. We enjoyed the Asian food a few times over the 2 weeks there. The Rose Hall Buffet worked out well for many meals, something different, if you're willing to try something different. The beach is okay, a little small, but when your country is getting snow, I will take the beach anyday. Yes, the rooms are a little plain, but I didn't spend all that much time in them, and they were cleaned, and I never saw bugs. We don't do evening entertainment as not our thing, so I can't comment on it. We did walk over to the mall, and yes, people kind of bother you, say no thanks and keep walking, you'll be okay. Met some nice people from all over, which was a nice change from only Canadians and Americans that seem to do the Mexico Rius.
