Superb Hotel and Excellent Staff
We stayed at the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites for 10 nights in June 2025. Prior to our holiday we saw some YouTube videos of the hotel uploaded by previous guests. The hotel looked ok. We were very pleasantly surprised to see that these videos did not do the hotel justice at all. It was way brighter, cleaner and smarter looking once we were there than anything we had previously seen. A genuinely lovely looking hotel. We used most of the a la carte restaurants; Italian, Green, Japanese and Steakhouse. These were all better than expected. We had no problem getting in to any of them. We had about a 20 minute wait for one of them which was no problem. The Japanese sure was fun. The hotel is on a main road so there is not much to do immediately outside the hotel; there was nowhere to go walking outside. This meant we spent more evenings inside the hotel than we usually do when we are abroad. We found most of the evening entertainment to be really good. Shout out to the piano player in the lobby bar taking requests - he was very engaging and really good. The hotel was not full during the time we are there. When you use the buffet restaurant, the staff book you in and then another shows you to your seat. I can imagine this would take time during their busiest periods so that's something to be aware of. For us, at the time we went, it was fine. The pool area was excellent. People did reserve sun beds but, at the time we were there, no-one was doing it at ridiculous times of the morning. The view from the pool over the beach is lovely. The beach was fine. The water was the warmest I'd ever experienced. The only downside is that it is a beach where sea weed grows on the bottom. The water did not get that deep so it was not great to swim in as you never got deep enough to swim without touching the sea weed at the bottom. Excursions are quite expensive. We took private tours to Negril; specifically to the Seven Mile Beach and Rick's Cafe - both definitely worth a visit. On a second trip we went to the Blue Hole, Dunn's River Falls and Luminous Lagoon - all awesome. Couple of things to be aware of - vendors can be very pushy to the point of rudeness. I understand they want people to purchase things but I'd question the subtlety of their selling skills! Also, beware when paying for good at some places. Despite there being a clear price on things, some vendors will simply make up a higher price when you go to buy things - so be ready to occasionally stand your ground and get them to check their prices! We were told to take Jamaican dollars which we did. However, nearly all prices are in US dollars - that way some people try to stitch you up on the conversion rates - so it's a good idea to have some information about Sterling, Jamaican AND US dollar exchange rates when buying stuff. OK, back to the hotel. A minor thing that has happened to us at just about all hotels who have the electronic card/tag door entry system. Every so often, the things will just randomly stop working and you need to go the club/reception to get them reset. They will tell you not to hold your mobile phone near to the entry system but, in reality, it makes no difference. Yes, it is a pain in the backside - happened to us 3 times in 10 days but, hey, all you can do is get it reset - takes only a few minutes,. And finally to a couple of Iberostar staff who were particularly excellent. First off, our rep - the Jamaican Zen - Zenoki. He sent us daily messages about stuff happening that day at the hotel. He was engaging and always happy to see us. And, secondly, Rhodene Marks, one of the Iberostar club staff. She was the one we dealt with most of the time. She was always pleasant, happy to help and, more importantly, extremely efficient. So, a thank you to those staff in particular and to all those at the hotel who made this such a wonderful stay. In summary - just be aware that there is not much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and the beach, whilst lovely and warm, is not the best for swimming in. Other than that, the Iberostar in Montego Bay is an excellent hotel and we found all staff were happy to help. I would highly recommend staying there.

Not a 4 star resort
First off I am a member of Iberostar ( prestige star ) took family to this resort for the first time … reasoning for 2 star is as follows… resort is nice but does not deserve a 4 star rating or a “ selection “ status… as a member I pay to have certain privileges that others don’t have and is to be expected when I visit any of there resorts one being that I can drink canned beer ( modelo) at the resort… when I got there I ordered one from swim up bar was told I would have to pay $5 for it why I’m a member ?… I later found out I have to go to all the way down to a lower level resort ( waves) and drink it at where the cabanas are at the “ waves” level resort or go to 2 floor and drink it at star lounge … I thought being on the resort and drinking my beverages was my choice not the resorts ?… when I question it all I get is a blank face, excuses, or we are working on it but no solutions for the time being…the restraints food there was subpar at best one of the worst food experience we have had since traveling… buffet food was seldom different and very repetitive… Italian restaurants food was served raw and way undercooked… steakhouse food as well undercooked and had a bad aftertaste ( steak)…Greek restaurant was the best one…smoke house French fries and pulled pork was good but the brisket was very overcooked and dry….Japanese restaurant there food was horrible and the chef did not preformed and cooking trips most resorts have there’s do.. ..having to call all the time to get products stocked in mini bar…star lounge there had nothing of any value for its members like other star lounges in there other resorts…. In conclusion we would not pay to move up on our membership as we see it as a waste of money and the fact they did not offer anything substantial to upgrade … was told that only happens to new members.. so as in conclusion better resorts in Jamaica to go to we will not return to them again

Disappointed and Heartbroken – Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites
I traveled to Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites with my husband and our 14-month-old baby, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation in Jamaica. While we absolutely love Jamaica and its genuinely warm, friendly people, our experience at this resort was deeply disappointing and, ultimately, heartbreaking. We arrived at 11 AM and were told the front desk would notify us when our room was ready. Hours passed — no word. At 4 PM, we finally returned to the desk only to be told our room had actually been ready since 12 PM. No one notified us. This lack of communication became a theme throughout our stay. Getting basic services was another challenge. We asked the front desk how to get whole milk for our baby and were told to call room service. But once we got into our room at 4:30 PM, we tried calling for over an hour — no one answered. Even the front desk didn’t pick up. We also couldn’t log into the Iberostar app to view a map or schedule. We were assigned a concierge, and the system forces you to work only with that one person — even when they’re unavailable. We tried twice to book something but were told no one else could help us. We had to come back a specific time in the morning in order to meet our concierge. It quickly became clear this setup was meant to funnel us into a sales pitch for the Iberostar club membership. Despite clearly saying we weren’t interested, our concierge pressured us, promised to shorten it to 45 minutes, and asked us to lie and say we agreed to 1.5 hours “just for protocol.” We agreed reluctantly. Once she handed us off to the sales rep at the Wave resort, she disappeared. We were left to awkwardly have breakfast with a stranger, then spent over 1.5 hours shuttling back and forth between resorts while our baby missed her nap. I understand they are trying to sell the club membership but the way they did it was a waste of time. Majority of the 1.5 hour was just traveling back and forth between the two resorts for nothing. We would rather sit at a presentation where they give us all the details of what a club membership includes and the different package. The food was mediocre and we weren’t allowed to take food back to the room. For parents traveling with a baby, this is a huge inconvenience. Something as simple as being able to grab food to go would’ve made a huge difference. One day our room wasn’t cleaned at all. We saw the housekeeper before we left and she told us we were next. When we returned later in the afternoon, not only was the room untouched — the tip we left was gone. We called the front desk and after investigating, they said the person who restocks the minibar took the tip, and they’d send someone to clean the room. That still doesn’t explain why housekeeping never came. We had to inconvenience ourselves again and leave the room so cleaning could finally happen. This wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if we weren’t traveling with a baby, but we were — and babies have nap schedules and feeding routines. Instead of Iberostar accommodating us, we constantly had to accommodate them. On our last night, our baby came down with a 108°F fever. She caught the Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, likely from the pool. The pools were not cleaned daily. We saw clumps of hair on the side of the activity pool, and it was still there two days later. After returning home, my sisters and I also came down with HFMD. It was devastating. We came for a relaxing family trip and instead brought home illness. I felt so bad for my baby. The only bright spot in all of this was the Jamaican people — genuinely kind and warm, without pressure to tip constantly (like we’ve experienced in places like Mexico). But Iberostar as a brand fell far short of its promises. Poor service, lack of communication, hygiene issues, and an exhausting push for club membership made our trip feel like work — not a vacation. We came here to create memories with our baby, not to waste time chasing housekeeping, room service, and sales reps. I cannot recommend this resort, especially for families. We were guests — not a quota, not a transaction — and we deserved to be treated like it.

Great family trip
The resort staff was amazing especially kaydian she went above and beyond about my food allergies, making special desserts for me each day! The resort was also exceptionally clean!

A great week stay in Iberostar!
I was very hesitant in choosing a resort as it was the first time I was traveling with my Infant daughter along with my husband and parents. I would recommend this resort as a family resort, the staff for the most part were very nice and go the extra mile to make sure you are having a great time and service is up to par. My few complaints is the staff at the food truck can be very rude, it was almost like they didn’t want to serve us or answer our questions when asked if a food item was available or not. The other complaint I have is that the staff can be pushy when it comes to the whole time share part, they start off by asking you what time you’re available so they can have breakfast with you and give you a short tour, etc. I kept declining as we have a baby and it was hard to schedule with her schedule but we also didn’t want to spend our vacation time being stuck listening to anything we wouldn’t be interested in anyways. The amenities were good, we absolutely loved the lazy river and food was great as well. Yes after a few days the food becomes repetitive but this is to be expected at any resort. I love great food and Caribbean food and the Caribbean food was simply delicious. We did have a few glitches here and there - the power went out in our room one night and they quickly fixed the issue almost immediately. Overall a great stay!
