Our stay at VIK

The wife and I just got back from VIK Arena Blanca and we really enjoyed ourselves. VIK Arena Blanca is the resort for you if you like being self sufficient, have a clean room, enjoy just lounging, and drinking Barcelo rum. The dining options were ok, but I have been to other resorts with better food. It's not a deal breaker for me, since I have a high stress job and beach laying for a week is perfect. The food was good, just not great. Security at the resort was tight during the day on the beach, but if you wander out there to look at the stars, people approach you for all the wrong reasons. I never felt unsafe while there. There was another plus, a beach salesman named Ormi. Ormi sells the snorkeling packages/dune buggies/etc and always wears a red/white/black hat. He speaks five languages and my family has gotten to know him over the years. If you want a good excursion without too much hassle, he's your guy. We took a glass bottom boat tour where we snorkeled with the fish, which was pretty cool. Even though it's an all inclusive resort, taking small bills with you is something I recommend. The $1 George Washington goes a long way with the staff if you give out some at the bar and/or dinner. The resort didn't have many Americans, but had plenty of friendly Canadian, French, German and Russians. The wife and I made a travel blog and there are several pictures on Instagram from our trip. Just search our nickname above (partywiththepigotts). I hope this has helped you in making your decision! Cheers.

Solid 3 star resort - beautiful grounds and beach

Second visit to this resort. Perfect for a relaxing beach vacation. Not a lot of nightly entertainment. Food was adequate, fruits and vegetables were wonderful. Drinks good and plentiful and the majority of staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Not all staff spoke English, but was able to effectively communicate needs. There is a convenience store as well as boutique on the resort. Huge help if you want a quick affordable trip and don't want to check a bag - you can purchase your sunscreen and extras right there at the resort and prices were not ridiculously inflated. This may not be the best choice for young people who want to party, but for a middle age budget traveler looking for beautiful beaches, plentiful food and booze - this is a great choice. I would recommend, and I would return. Be prepared for a solid 3 star resort and you will not be disappointed. Thanks VIK and Cheap Caribbean for another awesome Caribbean Vacation.

Weekend of Nov 8th

Resort was standard for Punta Cana, Ive been to 8 other ones and nothing amazing. Its a smaller one so alot less people then say Palladium. So that was a bonus plus being off season it was very empty. Ive never gone back to the same place twice over the years as I want to try a new place every time. My only complaint was the lighting at night time. Its pretty bad, but I am weird about about that stuff. A lot of the other resorts had much better night time lighting then this place. This felt very hacked together and not well thought out . Minus that it was a very nice place to stay.

Hotel Description

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Slip Beneath the Stress

Feeling drained? That's your body telling you it's time to recharge! No fuel is better than the sun, sand and sea at the VIK Hotel Arena Blanca. Located in tropical Punta Cana, the beachfront resort is a gem. The exquisite spa, gorgeous pools and nearly 24-hour entertainment for honeymooners ad families are just the start to a care-free experience in paradise.

The ivory shores of Bavaro Beach beckon sunbathers while snorkelers and scuba divers find bliss off shore. What's more, the resort offers non-motorized water activities free of charge. Skim over the waves on a complimentary catamaran excursion, or head to the resort's pool for a game of water polo. If you'd rather just relax and bask in the island atmosphere, though, the resort also provides loungers, palapas and towels for you to do just that. A refreshing beverage from the beachside Bucanero Bar tops off a perfectly beachy afternoon.

When dinnertime rolls around, check out El Mirador to sample the theme-based evening menu this buffet has in store. If you want Caribbean-style meals, La Proa serves up meat and seafood dishes with signature Island flair. In the mood for Italian? Don your best "smart casual" ensemble and make an appearance at La Trattoria for pasta dishes served a la carte. On Fridays, the decision is easy. Head straight for El Cano, where guests enjoy a fun seaside barbecue under the stars.

After dinner, the party keeps going at Calipso Bar until 5am. If the night's still young, though, the Fun Pub is the best spot to get groovin'. Then, if you feel like you're on a roll, venture to the Towers Casino to see how Lady Luck treats you.

If gambling is a step too close to the wild side for you, get a good night's rest instead, and prepare for the relaxation experience of your life at Etra Spa. From private parlors for couples massages to a full-service hair salon, the resort's on-site spa pampers you until the cares of ordinary life become distant memories.
