  Grand Serenis and Aqua games

  We arrived at this resort with big hopes of a great time due to the amount spent on the holiday. On first impression of the facility as we walked to our room was good. We had 14 days to spend there and we looked forward to what the hotel had to offer. The room was clean however the draws would not close and hung precariously open, even trying to force them closed would not fix the issue. We didn't have a door sign to notify of either do not disturb and please clean our room notice although two requests from reception for one it never materialised resulting in our room being missed four times. The bathroom was adiquate but looked tired with desegregation of the mirror and chrome work. Food was terrible and the the restraunt stank of sewage or drains after a downpour. The buffet restraunt was slightly better at the pool side. Fruit and salads stood open to flies landing on them and the cake stall was being attacked by the local starling like birds. The pool bar was dirty with flies and wasps infesting the slush machines and Cola dispensers. Everyday the bar ran out of either beer or spirits. As did most of the bars at some point. The mixers such as coke were flat but did improve slightly over the last week. This was not an isolated issue but happened every day. The pool had multiple tiles missing from the walls and flooring with a great deal of grit and sand on the bottom. Some of the under water lights were hanging off with a couple being held into place with black cable ties. The Al a Cart restaurants are a complete con. Beef Chicken or pork were the choices with a slight difference of ingredients, for instance the beef had a smear of pesto to add to the Italian theme. Try to book and you are restricted to choice of restaurant as they were fully booked, we never saw this. Some of the advertised resteraunts were not open, however there is a disclosure in the small print. Entertainment was poor although the entertainment team worked with enthusiasm at times. The shows were poor and amateurish and a jumbotron at the back of the stage at the theatre that had more missing pixels than a third hand pc monitor. I could go on even more about the facility but I will summarise, the facility boasts a refurb, this was not evident in our 14 day stay I can only surmise this has been completed on the members only section of the complex or the lobby area. The rooms and facilities are extremely tired and are in need of a drastic refurb A few staff are really good at their job however some look like they do not want to be there and are mildly rude and ignorant. I believe the Grand Serenis Punta Cana is the oldest within the Grand Serenis chain. The facility in Punta Cana, I believe is the oldest in the chain of Serenis and it definitely shows it. This facility in my opinion does not warrant more than a three star facility. We went with another couple an met two more couples while there and posed the question would you go again ? The answer was NO on all counts however some agreed that the hotel had great potential if managed right.

  Enjoyable but needs a little TLC

  Third visit in the last two years We have enjoyed our two previous visits to this hotel over the last two years this year not as much the staff here are cheerful in all areas except the pergola bar there are three ladies who will avoid you at all costs they disappear as soon as it is your turn to be served in main one of the servers behind the bar went above and beyond couldn't see the ladies name but she's been there over the two years we have been going. reception always a Great help and with a smile we were in block 20 top floor with a sea view beautiful room the restaurants were easy to book even though only a few were open at any one time the service can be a little bit hit and miss to quick bringing the courses before you had finished the previous course but the food was very good including the wine, the beach is beautiful apart from the sargassum not been cleaned or dumped part way down the beech when it was not a very nice smell when passing on walks there are also floating barriers along best part of the beach which are unsightly I take it that they are wave breakers so you don't get caught unawares when bathing the entertainment was the same as two years ago so only did about three shows the entertainment staff do a great job keeping holiday makers involved. Would I return not for a couple of years but one never knows Ps the guy on the Pyramid bar is great any drink you can think of he can make and thank you for the Jack Daniels

  Terrible place to stay

  Please save your money and book somewhere else - this hotel is a joke of a resort - marketed as a 5 star but I’m true this is a 3 star at the most. They advertise a la carte restaurants ( you can’t get into any of them ) the food is shocking all most everything is raw or under cooked - if you come bring some pepto cos you will need it for sure - we are currently still in the resort and this evening was the last straw - went to the buffet only thing edible was pizza , so went to the food truck only to be told they only have chips and they came raw - our balcony door handle came off after 4 days of being here - a complaint went to TUI and the hotel management, sadly that handle still isn’t on the balcony so to open it you have to put pressure on the glass to slide - our bathroom roof leaks ( when it hasn’t been raining ) don’t want to think what the liquid is - i paid for the taina experience don’t waste you money - you are packed in like cattle to get the most money - the show was 7 minutes max and was served yet not again raw chicken and didn’t even get the pleasure of being offered a drink… I will happily answer any further question about this place The hotel should be ashamed - and TUI should be ashamed of not doing anything about it -

  Very fun two week holiday!

  Just returned from 2 weeks holiday ! Staff friendly and rooms were very clean and up to good standard, the gardeners go above and behind to make the place look beautiful! The entertainment team were super fun and did not pressure you to get involved black panther and black diamond were my favourite and all the women on the team (didn’t catch the names!) Alex the lifeguard was always positive and having a conversation every morning by the pool when I walked past was never an issue to him , so polite and Humble! Leonardo at main entrance made checkout very easy for me very polite and helpful , credit to the hotel team! Willy in the coffee shop was always happy to see me and made me amazing iced coffees and greeted me with a big smile everytime Restaurants were very hit and miss but I always found something to eat and the food was always hot, waitresses were helpful with allergies after a few days of having issues with food labelling it was resolved in the end! Beach was beautiful and no seaweed Overall I would go back the staff as a whole made my experience very fun and enjoyable!
