Excellent week at the Grand Sirenis!
We spent a week at the Grand Sirenis with 3 kids aged 11, 10 and 9 yrs old. Everyone had an amazing time and were happy overall with our stay which leaves me a bit perplexed at reading such negativity on the reviews. It appears to be an older resort, but it has been for the most part nicely renovated although its age peaks through at times (but nothing that would turn me away). Our room had been renovated, was clean and my husband and I agreed that the beds were the best we’d had at an all-inclusive. The grounds were beautifully maintained and staff were always friendly and helpful. The check-in process was the quickest/most efficient we’ve ever experienced. We were happy with all the restaurants we ate at (all buffets, Brazilian, Japanese, Italian and steak house) and we had a picky eater in the group. One word of caution about the pool if there are weak swimmers in your group - the pool is mostly 6’ deep or more so floaties may be a good idea to bring for younger kids. Overall we have nothing but positive things to say about our stay and we felt it was an excellent value for the price. Would definitely recommend to any families looking for a Punta Cana hotel!

Subpar experience
We booked a week-long all-inclusive vacation to Grand Sirenis Punta Cana through WestJet Vacations and unfortunately came away underwhelmed with both the travel provider and parts of the resort experience. Before booking, we called WestJet and spoke with an agent who provided flight options. Based on those options, we arrived in Punta Cana at 6:00 a.m. and reached the resort around 8:00 a.m. We fully understood that our room would not be ready until later in the afternoon and had no issue waiting. However, during check-in we were told we would need to pay an additional $80 USD just to access the resort amenities while waiting for our room. This was never disclosed at the time of booking. We tried to discuss it with staff but were told it was “resort policy” and to take it up with WestJet. With no WestJet representative available, we reluctantly paid. We were also told this fee included early check-in, yet our room was not ready until about 2:45 p.m., just minutes before the standard 3:00 p.m. time. The next morning we received a 7:00 a.m. call from the WestJet representative advising us of a mandatory 10:00 a.m. meeting. During that call, the representative was rude and condescending, suggesting it was our fault for not booking better flights. When we later contacted WestJet customer service, we were again told this was a resort policy and that it wasn’t WestJet’s responsibility to disclose it. That lack of accountability and professionalism was very disappointing and has left us unlikely to book through WestJet Vacations again. As for the resort itself, it was okay but not the 5-star experience advertised. The rooms appear recently renovated and were clean, with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. The grounds were generally well maintained, and the pools and beach were enjoyable. Food was hit-or-miss. The buffet had a decent selection but was often bland. The à la cartes were inconsistent .We would strongly recommend avoiding the Route 66 restaurant, as the food there was inedible. The kids’ menus were the same at every restaurant and mediocre at best. The waterslide area is in need of serious repair. The metal stairs felt fatigued and spongy in places, likely from constant exposure to salt water, and the slides themselves were quite rough. We saw and experienced several cuts and friction burns, especially on the mat slide, which was not pleasant when returning to the ocean or pool. Service overall was average. Some staff were friendly, but many in the buffet during evenings seemed more focused on appearing busy than on refilling drinks or assisting guests. We were also put off by the high cost of excursions and the persistent pressure from timeshare sales representatives. Overall, we would rate this resort closer to a 3-star experience rather than the 5-star vacation advertised. Between the unexpected fees, poor communication, and inconsistent service, we left feeling disappointed. We would not recommend booking Grand Sirenis, especially through WestJet Vacations and would encourage others to carefully review policies and consider alternative travel providers.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Avoid at all costs — unless you enjoy chaos
This place should be studied as a case study in how not to run a resort. We booked a Suite. The photos showed a large room with a luxurious layout. What we got instead was a completely different Family Suite — smaller, different layout, different bed, different everything. The resort confirmed that this was not the room we booked and shrugged like this was normal. The first room was humid, moldy, and filthy. Stained sheets, stained walls, bad smells. The AC didn’t work. We called THREE TIMES. Each time a “technician” came, waved his hands near the vent like he was summoning spirits, and left. At one point the front desk literally told us to “go sleep outside if it’s too hot.” I wish I were joking. Food? Imagine someone describing food over the phone to a chef who has never eaten before. Sushi made with smoked salmon. Everything else either tasted like seawater or was cooked into dust. There’s a reason the only barely-edible restaurants are always overbooked. They advertise “all-inclusive,” but you get nickel-and-dimed for EVERYTHING. Pool tables cost money. Room service is basically a sad sandwich unless you pay more. Oh, and there were multiple unannounced blackouts at night. Power just gone. No communication. No explanation. Just lie there sweating in the dark wondering what’s happening. Staff were consistently rude, dismissive, and openly hostile — especially toward us as an Asian couple. We were ignored, skipped in line, and treated like a nuisance for asking for basic service. This resort is not relaxing. It’s stressful, dirty, disorganized, and deceptive. Save your money. Go literally anywhere else.

Having a lovely time
Here at the moment. We were quite worried after reading the reviews but we are pleasantly surprised. Our room is lovely and has everything we need. Cleaned everyday and fridge restocked. Food is ok, pretty much what you’d expect and I’ve not gone hungry. The animation team work hard to keep everyone entertained. All the staff have been lovely, I think if you’re polite to your fellow humans, you get the same back. It’s nice to be nice! Special mention to Merolin around the pool who kept us topped up with drinks all day. Plenty of sunloungers and lovely beach!

Ok, could be so much better
Stayed here for 11 nights in Jan, it as just ok nothing that massively affected our holiday but could be so much better. Experienced maintenance issues with bedroom which was resolved but had to waste half a day either chasing it or waiting. Food was ok, even in themed restaurants. You won’t starve but food lacked quality and consistency. In general service was good (especially from Ana in buffet for breakfast and lunch) but some staff were very rude. Pool restaurant and toilets very poor, need lots more staff on to offer any kind of cleanliness. The pool looked nice but after a few days stopped using it as I was concerned with all the debris and bits floating in the water as it just appeared dirty. Beach seaweed build up was really high the first few days but this was cleared eventually and maintained until we left. Can’t say we had a bad holiday but would not rush back - sad as could be so much better as it has the makings of being a great resort :(
