A Great Time

Overall PC Princess was just what the DR ordered. Just about everything was great. Staff was very accommodating. You can tell they enjoyed their work as many of them would sing along with the playing music and had genuine smiles. The facility is well kept. I am going to list a few negatives. Only the first one is pretty big on my list, the others are really nit picking. 1) The bed was just horrible. Hands down the worst I have ever slept on. Almost considered sleeping on the trundle bed instead. Please update this as this is a deal breaker for me to return. 2) The food was great, however, it would be good to know the schedules of all of the places, and their locations. We had no idea there was an actual coffee shop at one of the sister locations next door. We knew of other restaurants at the other sites, but knowing what they served daily and when was kind of a mystery. Also, not every food location is open every day so get your meals lined out ahead of time. 3) We went to this resort thinking we would not have to bother with the "upgrade to the uber package" issue. I will say, the upgrade was worth every penny, and for what you get, it really will seem like pennies, however it was just another paper cut into the budget. 4) The property is technically on the Atlantic side, not the Caribbean side. As far as nice beach and relaxing, sure its great, but there IS a big difference. You'll be able to tell very quickly from the plane ride home if you have never seen it. 5) They say the pool closes at 6pm, its more like 7, however that just seems too early to me. No lifeguards so why not just keep it open until sunset? Even if the bar closes at 6, just do a last call sort of deal and be done with it. Again, only the bed was the deal (or back) breaker. The other items were trivial honestly. They are not shy with the alcohol, if that is your thing, and the food is far from your normal resort "accommodate the Americans" buffet. One of our dinners would have been $250+ here where I live. Also, the alcohol you get in the specialty dinner locations is more of the top shelf quality so keep that in mind. The pool margarita is pond water compared to the one I got at La Cava. Lastly, this is an adults only resort. You will probably read up to see about the beaches or clothing optional things, maybe. Even for the resorts nearby that kids were allowed, topless was a thing. Probably saw 3 to four pair a day. Now inside the resort, saw a few at the pool as well. Had a few couples talk about them that I overheard. If that is your thing, then go for it. The staff didn't care nor draw attention to these women. I'm cool with that, and you should be too for international travel. Oh hey, a shout out to my daily bartenders at the pool, Nelson and Gray, and Gina and staff at the Spa. You guys rocked the house and really drove home what a Caribbean vacation is all about.

overall the hotel was nice but the food was nothing to get excited about. the fondue restaurant bread was stale. not toasted, not soft and fresh but stale. i have similar complaints about all the restaurants but i'll move on to the drinks. bring your own alcohol. you'll get sick before you get a buzz off of 5 drinks.

Excellent all inclusive

Punta Cana Princess was our choice based on reviews here and definitely delivered. The service and food were outstanding, beach views were breathtaking, and the pool was large and very refreshing. The comfort of the bed was less than excellent but overall the room was comfortable and all we needed for the week. We would certainly recommend the Punta Cana Princess for a fantastic Caribbean beach getaway week!

Punta Cana Princess - May 2019

Great beach and sea. Clean water, decent maintenance effort keeping sea weed out, and removing it (little that breaks through the nets) from the shore. Beach palapas are positioned too close to each other. Getting to the water requires walk around the palapas' cluster as the dried palm leaves literally create an impenetrable fence. Single pool, very shallow (but that's today's standard everywhere). But why?! there are no little kids around, this is adults only resort? Must be liability insurance thing. Pool is noisy from the poolside bar crowd, which tends to be rowdy. Alcohol served is atrocious. Forget the "domestic brands", this is a new level of cheap swill. Of course one could always order premium brands for extra payment ($4-8 per drink, which are not particularly generous). No alcohol in the room mini bar, just 2 cans of Budweiser. Room service is available for a separate charge (e.g. Cheeseburger USD $17 + 28% tax, plus gratuity is expected) Rooms are very clean. The Luxury Suites in reality are medium size rooms. All buildings are 3-stories, without elevator. Bathroom accommodations are good, with great water pressure. But the toilet stall reminds you of the airplane bathroom. It's ridiculously small, narrow. Builders have goofed in floor planning, leaving insufficient space for the WC. Toilet are mounted on an angle, and the barroom tissue dispenser is right where your knee would be, if you could fit. Now, for the food... There are a total of 5 restaurants in this resort. 1 is a buffet (your best option), 1 Tex-Mex/Steak house (one steak offered on the menu, rib-eye very thin cut, smothered in what appears as mushroom sauce. Tough meat, not a good steak), 1 Italian (you'd do better in suburban shopping mall pizzeria), 1 "fancy" place called La Petite Fondue (cheese fondue was awful. Meat cooked in boiling water will produce... boiled meat. Best bet is shrimp fondue appetizer), Finally Mare Nostrum, a place by the beach. That's where food goes to die. It's just an offense to anyone expecting to grab a bite. Like I said, buffet is your best option, although it's a hit-or-miss on different nights (dinner theme changes daily in a 7 day rotation). Breakfast was OK, but minimal selection. Fruit were good. Oatmeal - BAD. Overall, the entire place runs on a very tight budget, and it shows. To me, was not a great value. Would not return, would not recommend, but may be OK for some. The turquoise blue sea made it all better :-)

The hotel is also home to the Punta Blanca Golf Course, designed by Nick Price. The Punta Cana Princess is a hotel that knows no limits when it comes to beauty and rests on a pristine white sand beach. The beach boasts a mini spa section with its own Jacuzzi and a sauna right on the sand! When sand's not your game, snag a sun lounger poolside at the on-site freshwater pool or at any of the other three pools in the Princess resort complex.

With five on-site dining options, the hotel offers guests delectable choices when it comes to dinner. Opt for the a la carte seafood fare of Mare Nostrum, Tex-Mex steak at Rio Grande or elegant Swiss delicacies at Le Petite Fondue. Areito Discotheque offers free admission for all guests looking to shake their tail-feathers late into the evening, and a casino offers thrills even later. Live entertainment is also available at a number of on-site venues.

Sporty visitors enjoy sighting up a bull's-eye on the archery range or vying for match point on one of two tennis courts. If active relaxation is more what you had in mind, Metamorphosis Spa offers sensory nirvana with a variety of treatments, including hydromassage.

Retiring to a Platinum Suite can be its own adventure with a private balcony, premium-brand liquors in your room and nightly turndown service. An extra touch of island class greets guests upon arrival, too--a fruit basket and cigars are waiting to welcome you to paradise.
