"Royal Service" check in took 1 1/2 hours. Rooms were NOT together NOR ocean view rooms as requested. Multiple attempts to change rooms on first two days resulted in broken promises, alot of run around, long waits and NO results. Wasted portions of first two days for nothing. Rooms were not that nice and needed repairs. My opinion, rooms need remodeling. Bathroom sink very slow to drain. Toilet handle had to be held down until process complete to flush. Broken glass top on bed table was hazardous. Bathroom ceiling needed replacement. Hot water in shower took a long time untill hot. Chipping paint and plaster. Entry door knob latch needed repair. Patio light bulb kept flickering on/off. This resort is night & day difference with property in Playa de Carmen Mexico.

This was a vacation our family needed. We had a great time and enjoy it every second of it. For the ones going to the beach, you will find some seaweeds but nothing crazy ( that also depend on the weather conditions). Make restaurant reservations ASAP on your arrival. It will be hard to find one at a decent hour. Than you will get stuck with the buffet ones, which are still great. We will definitely go back.

old facility

been to Dominican numerous times.. would never recommend paradisus to anyone.. Room was fine, we were put in a location that you needed a golf cart to take you to the beach. Way too far from the beach. They upgraded the room, extra 100.00 per night. Food was below average, looks as though they love to make leftover salad. The resort is old, heard they are tearing it down shortly. Can find better resorts, for the $$$.

Beautiful resort, horrible rooms

I just got back from this resort. I was booked for 7 nights but only lasted one. Here is what happened. First, let me say the positives. The resort is beautiful! The grounds very well maintained. I ate at almost all restaurants and they were good (minus all the mosquito bites if you eat at any outside restaurants). The staff is so friendly. take a real chance at what room you get. I ordered a luxury junior suite. It was really run down, smelled really bad and was very uncomfortable. The lock on our door broke so staff had to break into a window, take the lock off and replace it. We were so upset we moved over to the Reserve the next day and stayed there for the next 6 nights which is GORGEOUS. The rooms are night and day between these two resorts which are connected. I think some rooms at the Paradisus were updated as I did peek inside a few but they still aren't very nice especially compared to those at the Reserve which are luxury and 5 star. The staff is also disorganized. When you arrive, they assign you a family concierge to make dinner reservations (which you do need to eat at a restaurant). I couldn't find her the next day so I just called zero from my room and made my own. I saw her a few days later and told her. She said she made reservations for us as well. When she called to cancel the ones she made, she cancelled mine and hers so I had none and had to make them all over again. One night, the person I spoke to didn't tell the restaurant I was coming but luckily they took us anyway when we showed up. It was things like that they need to work on. Again, the resort is beautiful but I do not recommend staying in the rooms. Stay at the Reserve and you still get access to all of the facilities at the Paradisus. I have seen some complaints about how big this place is and that the Reserve is far. I liked that. There are trolleys to drive you all around and they come very frequently. Also if you are walking, they stop and ask if you want a ride. My last comment is the resort does need to do something about beach solicitors. I started staying away from the beach because they come by and bug you at least every 2-3 minutes. Not very relaxing.

What We'd Change

The resort at Paradisus Punta Cana is very large and spread out. And sometimes the wait for the shuttle is 15 or 20 minutes. But remember, waiting in paradise isn't a hardship.

Why You Should Go

Only 35 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. Your dream vacay will be here zippity zip.

Rally or beat the swim trunks off your opponent on four tennis courts. A little rivalry never hurt anybody.

You can tee off at the world-renowned Cocotal Golf & Country Club. Bring your A game.

In the surf, you can dive into kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving (for certified drivers).

On terra firma, there are guided hikes, bike tours, a rock climbing wall, paddle tennis and more.

There's killer entertainment: live music, Latin & Dominican parties, but that's just the tip of the beachberg.

Okay, this place is swimming with bars - the lobby, the swim-up in the pool, and in a few of the nosh spots. The Red Lounge is also where you can throw down. But if you want rock star treatment, go for Royal Service where you can revel in the aahh-some of the Gabi Club Bar. All bars open at 9am and close at midnight. Time to kick it in paradise.

The resort sits on the insanely beautiful Bavaro Beach. In terms of cement ponds, it's serious Pool Mania - there are seven: the main lagoon style pool, the Royal Service pool (exclusively for adults - woot), The Reserve exclusive pool, two pools for the kiddies and a YHI Spa pool. Swoon-worthy.
