Will I visit again, NO

The grounds of the property were beautiful! Pool was nice and big. My problem is everything else. The Jr Suite was really nice BUT our room was infested with roaches! The drinks were horrible until we tipped at least $20USD. The food was the worst I've ever had, and I travel a lot outside of the US. There are not enough food options during the day and at night I only found the steakhouse to be satisfying so we ate there every night. And the worst part "for me" was the entertainment or lack of. There was the same show at the pool for a few hour, then at night that same show went to th stage; by the 3rd night I was able to perform it. And, the only music they played was from their culture, which is fine, but most resorts I've been to try to cater to all of their guest. Overall the resort was pretty, but that was it!!

just ok

our trip was just an ok experience. nothing bad, but nothing great either. the resort is about 30 minutes from the airport, we purchased the airport transfer but you would be fine just taking a regular taxi. the resort itself was nice, could use some updates. our room was upgraded for free to be nearer to the beach. we thought that was great, until we realized that meant our room was far, far away from everything else. our 1st day there, our room key card stopped working for no reason. we tried to find someone to open the door and no one could get it open. after waiting in the sun and a sweltering hallway for 30 minutes someone finally let us in. while waiting we weren't told what was going on. our 2nd day there, one of the bellhops came to get us for breakfast. he tricked us into meeting another employee who wanted to sell us a time share. very annoyed because we had to wake up early on our vacation and this guy held us hostage for 2 hours! the casino is not a real casino, just a gaming room. the resort entertainment was good. we watched a michael jackson show, played bingo, and tried bowling. The food was okay, i thought they would have more native food. buffet was okay, the restaurants weren't busy. i know people say to get there early due to long lines, but we go there around 6 and always got a table. also, do not exchange your money. that was a rip off, due to the exchange rate. all in all okay trip, nice to cross off the list but we will not go back.

Let me start off by stating that I've stayed in this hotel before. I stayed back in July 2015, well before Hurricane Maria. The hotel facilities are in great shape considering the passing of the hurricane. Essentially, moving around the hotel is fairly easy considering they have around-the-clock trolley service around the whole complex. Dining late? No problem. Going to the disco? No problem. If you don't want to walk depending on the distance from your room, the trolley has you considered. As for drinks, the bar is well stocked with rum, vodka, whiskey, etc . . . I'd definitely recommend to try the house cocktails which are colorful and delicious. Within the normal all-inclusive alcoholic options, you have two tiers. One is non-privilege and the other one is Privilege. As for non-privileges, you'll have Bacardi, Dewars, Absolut, as well as other spirits I can't remember at the moment (I was staying on a non-privileged vacation). As for Privilege tier, you'll get some upper echelon spirits such as Johnnie Walker, Disarrono, etc . . . As for beers, be prepared to get to know Presidente beer as it is one of the most well known dominican brand beer (super good). You can purchase some drinks that are not included in neither tiers (can only recall Modelo, Heineken, . . .). As for eating, ohhh, there's a lot of that. The facilities have 2 buffet spots, Villa Marina and el Cocotal. Villa Marina is ocean front and is perfect for a midday snack. El Cocotal is way bigger and has a lot more variety. Great thing about el Cocotal is that they have international variety of foods so you're bound to find something keen from back home. Nighttime dining you say. You have a couple of restaurants included (5 if memory serves me right). You don't need reservations for these except for Sensei which is the Japanese restaurant. All other do not require reservation. You'll find a delicious steakhouse, italian restaurant for a romantic dinner, a Mexican theme restaurant, a Latin infusion restaurant and lastly, an American themed restaurant. I didn't have time to visit El Mascherati (italian), the mexican themed one nor the Latin infusion. However, all other are top notch! Please be kind and tip your waiters. You'll also find Mike's cafe which serves all types of coffee drinks and they've just inaugurated an ice cream parlor. If you do decide to have a nice dinner, be sure to choose a nice bottle of wine to accompany the meal. Don't know jack about wine? No problem. My main man Misael is the most knowledgeable sommelier we've met before. Such a great guy who made exquisite bottle recommendations. Tell him Jean Paul sent you and says "hi". As for fun, the pools are humongous and have poolside bars. The second pool has a volleyball net and a bar as well. There are fun activities around the clock with staff participation that keep the party going on and on. You'll find yourself taking dance lessons with Manuela or doing crazy pool games with "Pikachu". Super fun! Also, the beach is very decent and you'll find a couple of bars beachside as well as beach activities. Be sure to participate in the beach volleyball tournaments to relive the glory days. I didn't get the chance to assist nighttime shows but you'll have a doozy for sure. There's also a activity center (more for young ones) but, the bowling alley serves any age right (six lanes if your wondering). I hope i haven't missed anything but, honestly, every time we consider vacations to the Dominican Republic, Ocean Blue is our number one choice! You won't be disappointed.

Everything was ok. There could of been more variety for food. Our room the a/c was not that good and fridge was not working properly. We called several times but it never got fixed. One of the excursiones I paid for pics and was given an UV Port which was empty come to find out upon my return. Customer Service was really good. One excursion Monkeyland, and Boogies was so uncoordinated I wouldn't recommend this excursion but everything else yes.

Hotel Description

Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, Punta Cana: Get Ready to Double Down

If life feels like one long day after another, give yourself permission to check out the magnificent Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort. The Ocean Blue and Ocean Sand share facilities, which means twice the activities of an average resort by offering dining and amenities for every one of their guests with access to both resorts. Each resort houses half of the combined 708 five-star suites and junior suites. VIP concierge service is offered for Privilege Jr. Suites.

Located along the lush Dominican Republic's Punta Cana, this all-inclusive dreamboat offers water activities, such as snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, plus unique ways to see the sights, including a cool beachfront climbing wall. Float under swaying palm trees in the quiet pool or order a margarita and join the party at the other pool's swim-up bar. When you've had enough water fun, channel your inner Robin Hood at the archery range, shoot pool like Minnesota Fats, or peddle like Lance Armstrong on a bike.

If you're feeling in need of pampering, relax at Ocean Spa, then grab an Irish Coffee at Mike's, the coffeehouse at Ocean Blue & Sand. Fully caffeinated and ready to go, cash in at the Ocean Tower Casino, or strike out with the family at the bowling alley. If bowling balls aren't your cup of tea, splurge a little and grab a tee-time at nearby White Sands Golf Course, an 18-hole course designed by Spanish golf great, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo.

Guests can have their taste buds tickled with a smattering of delicious dining options from El Bodegon's Spanish tapas, to Route 66's 1950s diner, to La Casa de Mi Abuela's traditional Dominican fare. Dine where you like, when you like, with no reservations needed. And for those who really rock around the clock, you can play the night away at the resort's Wave Disco Bar. So if you just can't stop... you don't have to at Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, where it's all inclusive, all of the time.
