Worst trip ever

My name is Richard Rodriguez and I booked a 6 day trip to Punta Cana from January 6 to January 12. I have to say that this was the worst experience in my life. The ride from the airport to the resort was a nightmare, the driver almost crashed twice on my to the resort. Amstar should really train their drivers to be more safe. When I checked in the reception was nice and the young lady who helped explained the layout of the resort very well. I checked into room 5317, the room was atrocious , the bedsheets weren’t changed since the last guest as evident by the stain and hairs on the bed and the extra blanket in the closet smelled like perfume. The bathroom had a missing door and the faucets were stained by mold and rust. There was hair all over the tub and sink area. When I checked in almost immediately someone knocked on my door informing me that my phone had to be replaced. The replacement phone hardly worked and the tv, fan and box next to the door didn’t work. I called 3 times and no one ever came to fix them until I spoke to cheap Caribbean and the next day someone came to fix just the tv. The housekeeper magherita was very very nice, and after explaining my housekeeping issues she cleaned the bathroom the best she could. But sadly the rust and mold weren’t removed. The h10 people are extremely annoying and really don’t let you enjoy your time there. I wanted to take some pictures of the wild life and overtime I kept getting annoyed by them. The food was disgusting I’m sorry but it is. Im Dominican and the food was a huge embarrassment. When I ate at the Route 66 my avocado burger was just a gross guacamole spread on a patty, the fries tasted like their were frozen and the Mac and cheese tasted like box and it was gross. The pool and the bar attendants were amazing. The gentlemen there prepare great drinks and are fun to talk too. The beach was dirty, so I had to walk a bit to get a clean spot to relax. Sadly, ocean blue and resort disappointed me greatly, I was already suffering panic attacks in my room. I couldn’t talk to no-one home because the WIFI was the single most atrocious thing I ever seen, I barely got connection. I booked a flight from Punta Cana to new York city that cost me 633$ because the amount of disappointment and uncomfortableness I experience

This place has gone down to you know what :-/

This is our second trip to Ocean blue and sand resort. In 2014, this place was run beautifully. Now the service is terrible. Workers are generally rude. Ladies that clean the rooms do a horrendous job. They seldom stock the complimentary minibar which most importantly contains drinkable water. The rooms are falling apart. Furniture in the rooms are disgustingly dirty. There is constant noise, all the time, starting with the workers just yelling at each other across the halls first thing in the morning. It’s so sad to see what’s happened to this resort. I could not wait for my week to be over so I could leave this resort. I will never go back to Ocean Blue and Sand.

could use some work

over all our stay was relaxing, there are some stuff that could use some improvement. our room for example, everyday we asked for service something was always missing, towels, bedsheets, pillow covers... and when we asked if we could get it replaced they acted like it was our fault it wasn't there, or like it was a hassle for them to do it. also found a used coffee filter in our tall lamp, not very hygienic.. We had a meeting in another resort, and the employees from ocean blue literally stopped our taxi and told us to get out cause bad things where going to happen, ex. get robbed and who knows what. (not true at all, we were invited to another resort and the resort we where staying at trident want us to leave) on the bright side the resort grounds are very clean and easy to get around in, the restaurants where very nice, and had lots of options to choose from, the events they had very entertaining and most of the staff made everyone feel welcomed.

trip from heck....

FIRST ROOM FIRST NIGHT: stank of mold, makeup mirror light broken, tub didn’t drain, phone had no numbers for calling around the hotel and it was not working (had to jiggle the wire to make it work), doors askew on cabinets, no towels, no blanket, no soap. Called at around 7 pm, maid brought some towels. Went to office after discovering the hair dryer switch was broken (it was GONE) (last straw for my girl). Girlfriend (with wet hair) and I irate storm to office at 8 pm. Attempting to communicate over blasting music from lobby next door. Almost impossible to decipher behind the noise and his accent. Demanded to see the manager, who NEVER APPEARED. New room promised, “wait 20 mins in room”. Half hour, no word fuming, since we hadn’t even eaten or seen the place not a good place to spend your first night, waiting in a room for a phone call… Tried calling, but phone not working, went up again, after calling and being hung up on (Jiggled the wire again). Now I am irate. New room given at around 10 pm. Missed the first night completely and the show that night. NEW ROOM: Discovered that the A/C would not turn off at set temp, room arctic in temperature, called for help, they adjust, to no avail… NEVER WORKED PROPERLY for the entire stay. By Wednesday, after several “fixes” that didn’t work, we decided to simply turn off the A/C to cool the room but humidity then rose.. At least we were not frozen, but still a bit uncomfortable. Phone could only receive voice, but not send on first night. New phone installed. Several escutcheons loose, never fixed. Shower would not drain, plunged it, but never truly was fixed. Handle loose on sliding glass door, tightened and came loose next day again, fan light not working, then working, then not working… Towels… THEY DON’T SEEM TO HAVE THEIR TOWEL ACT TOGETHER. It was a guess as to whether or not the towels would arrive each day, they usually didn’t. If they did, it was after 4 pm. Had to chase down the maids almost every other day.. First night, no soap or shower gel. GENERAL: Staff needs attitude adjustment. They palaver while you wait for service as if you’re not there, but hound you for a time share. Toilets in women’s public areas didn’t flush. Trams for taking you the long walk around the complex, usually going the wrong way. Walkways between buildings paved with worn out, sunken terra cotta; awkward going for high heels. Whole complex seems to be undergoing a renovation. Lobby usually had WAAAY TOO LOUD music going each night. One bright spot was an excellent violist. They should have more of that type music. Annoying staff trying to always get people up and dancing grabbing girls at random…. Not cool. BEACH: WATER FREEZING. Never went in beyond toes. WIND CONSTANT. 10 to 20 mph made for annoying beach stay. Wanted to kayak, but ocean too rough. Bocce was offered, but it was IN THE SAND OF THE BEACH… that is not bocce. There was plenty of lawn area that could have been utilized for bocce, however. The volleyball looked like it was from the Nixon era. Cups all over the beach not picked up with regularity. Constant, annoying music on the beach. A challenge if you just wanted to relax quietly. Beach lounges a challenge to adjust. POOL: Water cold. Music MUCH TOO LOUD. Constant disco/rap music blaring WAAAY too loud at poolside, even in afternoon, when wanting to nap, it could be heard. RESTAURANTS: Steak house below average, tough steak. Italian, fair… Route 66, meh. Best was the Japanese food. It was hibachi style and was quite good. They also gave you beef, chicken, shrimp, AND salmon… quite good. Several restaurants would be closed each night, seemingly at random for some reason, so your choices were reduced each night. Breakfast/lunch OK. SHOWS: What is wrong with their sound system? Could not understand a word that was spoken over their PA system. Terribly muddled and once again, the sound was WAAAY too loud. Had to use ears plugs for one of the shows. Shows were OK at best, except the Michael Jackson tribute… quite well done. DISCO: EAR splitting noise. Not much else. BIKE TOUR: LOLOL Scenic burning vegetation, passing ruined golf course, through Bavaro (slum?), to a tourist trap shopping center, then return. Don’t bother. BOWLING/ACTIVITY CENTER: Stank of mold (had it ever been cleaned?), no waiting list for pool tables or ping pong. No one seemed to be in charge. Walked in and walked out. TENNIS: Courts were generally open in decent shape, but covered with gritty gravel, which gave the ball a weird bounce. ARCHERY: Well, how can you mess up a bow and arrow?... It was OK. Would we go back again? ONLY IF THEY GAVE ME A FREE ALL INCLUSIVE WEEK INCLUDING AIR.

Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, Punta Cana: Get Ready to Double Down

If life feels like one long day after another, give yourself permission to check out the magnificent Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort. The Ocean Blue and Ocean Sand share facilities, which means twice the activities of an average resort by offering dining and amenities for every one of their guests with access to both resorts. Each resort houses half of the combined 708 five-star suites and junior suites. VIP concierge service is offered for Privilege Jr. Suites.

Located along the lush Dominican Republic's Punta Cana, this all-inclusive dreamboat offers water activities, such as snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, plus unique ways to see the sights, including a cool beachfront climbing wall. Float under swaying palm trees in the quiet pool or order a margarita and join the party at the other pool's swim-up bar. When you've had enough water fun, channel your inner Robin Hood at the archery range, shoot pool like Minnesota Fats, or peddle like Lance Armstrong on a bike.

If you're feeling in need of pampering, relax at Ocean Spa, then grab an Irish Coffee at Mike's, the coffeehouse at Ocean Blue & Sand. Fully caffeinated and ready to go, cash in at the Ocean Tower Casino, or strike out with the family at the bowling alley. If bowling balls aren't your cup of tea, splurge a little and grab a tee-time at nearby White Sands Golf Course, an 18-hole course designed by Spanish golf great, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo.

Guests can have their taste buds tickled with a smattering of delicious dining options from El Bodegon's Spanish tapas, to Route 66's 1950s diner, to La Casa de Mi Abuela's traditional Dominican fare. Dine where you like, when you like, with no reservations needed. And for those who really rock around the clock, you can play the night away at the resort's Wave Disco Bar.
