  Beautiful resort with friendly helpful staff

  I went with my mother for an entire week and we had a great time, very clean establishment, friendly and helpful staff. I was training every morning with Enrique while I was staying at the Majestic Colonial and he was extremely helpful in guiding me with workouts, which in turn helped me decompress and disconnect from work related stress; the whole reason for the trip. Our butler Samuel was also extremely helpful and would regularly check in to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay from provisions in the room, information about activities, restaurant reservations, etc. Thank you Enrique, Samuel and the rest of the Majestic Colonial staff for making our stay as amazing as it was.

  Nice hotel but some issues

  Just back from our holidays and I am a bit disappointed with majestic. Reading so many good reviews I had high expectations for this hotel. Unfortunately it didn't show 5 star quality. The hotel itself is very nice,well maintained, beach was beautiful. Our rooms were at the club section, decent room but not equipped in everything that should be there e.g. we had no bathrobes and our friends never got the complimentary bottle of alcohol. Feel like for a 5 star hotel there should be more attention to details when rooms are being prepared. We loved the jaccuzzi and our butler had prepared us a lovely romantic bath for us. We had nice view and the windows are quiet so you dont hear any noise from outside. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, plenty of storage space. None of the room requests that I have asked for in advance had been granted and it was actually done opposite (I have requested a ground floor room due to mobility issues but got third floor while our friends got a ground floor room they checked in the same day as us so they can't say it was not available!) Pool areas, pools are fine, need a lot of refurbishment but are OK. They are not deep enough, like 1m deep everywhere. Stupid! I am glad I didn't pay extra for swim up room because the access to the pool from these rooms is ridiculous, access is only a pool lader every couple of rooms while the family section has steps and there are distributed more evenly. Loved the bali beds, so comfortable but they need to keep them fixed with the curtains, many beds are missing them. Access to the club pools is very limited, one of them has only 1 access point so for someone with poor mobility it was a very big issue. Also the hotel is very big so there is load of walking- just a heads up for thos who struggle with distance. But surfaces are flat and lifts are available. The beech is not accessible for wheelchairs. Entertainment was OK, usually the club section was overlooked and had maybe 1 activity a day nobody was popping in frequently to say what activities are happening in other areas so unless you check the app/poster you won't attend them. Night entertainment was very good and shows were great. Food in buffet was very nice, there have been few things that were not edible, on one occasion I had a chicken that was undercooked but otherwise we enjoyed it. The tags to the plates were mixed a lot of times so sometimes it was hard to know what the food is. Once I asked staff what the food was and they were not sure chicken or fish.....Not great for people with food allergies. Japanese one the best, amazing food and show. Staff there was great and service was excellent. Steakhouse terrible, waited 1 hour for steaks, out or 4 only 1 was served well done as requested and none of them had sauces requested. Also 25 min waiting for 2 glasses of coke. We left and went to eat in the buffet. Mcjestic terrible food, cats ate it though.... Club lounge really good All 4 of us had GI issue after couple of days. And for the last service- most of the staff had been very nice, really helpful and nice. Our butler Edith was great, Black diamond in entertainment team was the only one showing to the club pool. Unfortunately some of the restaurant and bar staff had been focused only on people who tip. We only belive in tiping if the service is good and club section bar, supreme, hispaniola and rodeo staff was all about tips. Many times we would not get our coffee for breakfast and coke for dinner, there have been times where we asked twice for drinks and we were able to finish all the food and desserts and still the coke was never received. From day one it happened daily. The bartender in club section would only speak to us in Spanish even though we spoke in English to him, while he spoke english to other guests sitting at the same time at the bar, ignore parts of the orders etc. In the end we avoided ordering drinks with him and only order with the other girl that was there helping out occasionally. We belive tips should be at a discretion of the clients for a good service not a must to receive a good service. There have been few other situations when We didn't feel like being respected as guests. I was in a different 3 star hotel before and service was 100% better even with no tips. The prices in the shop were crazy! twice as much as on the beach vendors or in souvenirs shops and the airport. The christmas decoration and light cermony was amazing. The grounds were well kept and very clean. Honestly while the hotel was lovely the few staff in bar and restaurants had hugely made a negative impact on our stay. We felt like we are the worse category of people when going to the buffet. We are quiet and intoverted people and dont like fuss around us but we felt ignored.

  Amazing Resort and Amazing Staff.

  I had to edit my first review because my phone auto corrected and put the wrong name in for the gentleman that helped us the whole stay. Danny was amazing. He took us to our room when we first got there and he was always asking if we needed anything. For staffing, you can’t get any better than him!! He deserves recognition in the fabulous job he does. Amazing. The atmosphere was terrific. We loved it. The room was always kept tidy for us. The view was amazing. Everyone was friendly and always smiling. There was great entertainment every evening. The dining was great with many options to choose from. We are so happy that we chose this resort.
