    a amazing first DR trip

    Me and my girlfriend had an amazing experience from the day we walked in to when we left. Everyone was so nice and pleasant. We had a butler named Manuel. He made our stay feel more welcomed than what we expected from showing us all around to booking all of our dinners to the restaurants. Every morning, we got a good morning message from him on top of the resort activity schedule and times. Even during the day he checked up on us in person. The morning stretching with black diamond was a great way to start the day. And the pool and beach activities were extremely fun. The night time had non stop dancing was a blast Wish we stayed longer than what we did.

    It Just Keeps Getting Better

    Another great holiday at the Colonial. This is our seventh time here in the last 10 years. We traveled this time with 3 other couples we met at the Colonial over the years. We are all obviously loyal fans of this resort. I tend to write these reviews for those that have been here before and are planning to return but I hope those that are planning to come get a feeling for what to expect by reading other Colonial reviews. We are lucky, we never had problems worthy of complaint in all the years we have been coming. The resort is beautiful, Caribbean in nature with an abundance of foliage and palm trees. The buildings are not the concrete glass and steel that you see in some of the newer resorts. There is an abundance of available bali beds and palapas. If you travel this time of year, you will always get one. Our room at the club was as we expected. Air Conditioning work well, clean, lots of storage space and a large balcony to enjoy our evenings on. David Lopez was our butler. Also, our best butler to date. He is attentive, efficient and professional and we truly believe he cared about the quality of his service and our comfort. We will arrange to have him next year. For those of you that are returning, staff you will remember. Elias Sanchez is still taking care of the main lobby. He saved our vacation the first year we were here. My wife left her purse on the bus with our passports in it. Elias grabbed her and he chased the bus down in a golf cart to recover the purse. Carolina German is again at the lobby bar and I would spend an hour with her every morning. Her moto… learn a word a day. Her English is excellent. You will find Karen, Bernadel, Veronica and Karina there also. Fausto, Christian and Cruze are at the main bar, they are tireless. Johan and Katia are at the plaza bar again this year, working hard as usual. July is at one of the club pool bars and Green is at the at the large pool bar this year. We spent a few hours with them last year and dropped by to say hello this year. We met a new girl at the parrot bar, loyda she is always smiling and has a gentle demeaner about her. You will see for yourself. Although I have missed some staff in this review, I will make sure you are included next year. However, one final mention. I spoke with a girl in the lobby a few times, Tiffany De Morla, she told me she would like to be a butler one day. I think that management should strongly consider her for this position in the future. She will be an asset for sure.     Absolutely horrible place. A Horrible time and no accountability!

    It’s with a heavy heart that I write this. I am not a negative person and try to find the good in everyone and in everything. However with that being said, I feel that our experience needs to be shared. We booked and paid for our trip in full 8 months in advance, and thought we were diligent with our research.Our stay was from 7/31-8/6. I only got to enjoy 18 hours on the resort. We prepaid for a very expensive room we never got. Should have been on the “Club side”..*We had paperwork and confirmations with us and showed to the resort staff at check in* We were placed on the “Family side” of the resort, we do not have young children. Our grown children and spouses were placed on the “Club side”. My best friend flew in from Michigan, to celebrate my birthday. Thankfully they were in the correct room, and on the “Club side” So WHY would we be placed on the “Family side”?? I got horrible food poisoning the first night, (Birthday dinner)and lived off crackers and bottled water for the next four days. I couldn’t even get room service to bring me something as simple as toast. Never have I ever been that sick! It took almost three weeks to get reservations at the hibachi restaurant, as we were a party of eight. At one point, we were even locked out of our room, the maintenance dept had to remove and reprogram the door. Then later our bracelets. There was Black mold in our room, hallways, restaurant and salon bathroom.. The final straw as we’re eating dinner on our last night there, I finally started keeping food down, as we started to eat, a giant hissing cockroach FELL from the celing almost hitting me in the head. Followed by another crawling out of the wall from behind a curio cabinet. Upon checking out, hotel staff casually told us they would be closing soon for “remodeling, renovations, repairs & housekeeping.”In other words, they KNEW their resort had issues before we even arrived. That amount of work doesnt happen overnight, and a plan is put in place for it to happen. Yes this resort is supposed to be a 5 star resort and has a great social media following, however after reading other posts and comments previously posted, they confirm we are not alone. I never got to experience the beach and im a beach girl.. I understand the beach wasnt in its best shape, but thats Mother Nature. I would have loved to have had a different experience. The resort has yet to take any accountability for our horrendous stay, they have not answered emails or returned any phone calls. We have left messages for management and the executive director. We have confirmations, emails, phone logs, pictures, and videos of everything I mentioned above. While others may have had a great experience, sadly ours was awful.

    Best experience ever felt like I was with family the entire time.

    The greatest experience Ismael bartender was awesome very respectful and funny guy . Karin omg making sure our stay was great checking on us telling us where was the party all the time. Cleaning staff 10 out of 10 super clean and so adorable. The entertainer people love it they have the cutest smile dancing with everyone the shows were amazing food was super good especially suchi bar 😋😋

    An unsatisfactory experience during the entire trip

    Dear Majestic Colonial Customer Care I am writing to formally express our disappointment with the vacation package you booked for us at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana from August 15 to August 22, 2025. While our trip began on a positive note, our overall experience was far from the quality we expected or were promised. The first three days were enjoyable, though even then we encountered issues. Our shower stall and sink were blocked from the start of our stay, and despite reporting it, the problem was never resolved. Additionally, on our very first day, we requested a change of linen as the bed was not properly made and appeared soiled. Unfortunately, this request was only attended to after two nights. From that point onward, matters deteriorated significantly. According to the resort’s own website, scheduled renovations were not to begin until October. However, during our stay, access to multiple facilities was suddenly restricted without notice. Bars, the beach, and several restaurants were shut down, and eventually even the pool was closed. Out of the five advertised restaurants, only one remained open. The food quality at the remaining restaurant was extremely poor, often appearing recycled and far from fresh. At the French restaurant, the only vegetarian option for my son and me (apart from a simple salad) was fried eggs and two small slices each of grilled eggplant and zucchini—hardly an acceptable offering for a resort of this standard. Other issues further compounded our dissatisfaction: Despite repeated requests, our in-room snacks were not replenished until the evening before our departure. On the day of departure, we twice asked for help with our luggage and received no assistance, forcing us to carry it ourselves. Our assigned butler provided no meaningful support throughout our stay. We later discovered that other guests were offered access to amenities at the adjacent Majestic Elegance, yet this courtesy was never extended to us. Adding to all of this, the overall atmosphere of the resort was disheartening—the staff’s demeanor was visibly sad and disengaged, which further diminished the experience. This trip was booked and paid for in good faith with the expectation of a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. Instead, what we experienced fell far below acceptable standards. I kindly request that you review our case with the resort and pursue appropriate compensation on our behalf.
