Amazing Vacation

This resort is AMAZING! The staff was professional and they catered to my needs. The scenery is beautiful and the welcome package came in handy. Tomas at the buffet restaurant catered to my family everyday. You can tell he LOVES his job. My family and I will return back to this all inclusive resort! ❤️❤️

Mixed feelings

To provide you with an accurate picture of our experience I will rate each department encountered individually. FRONT DESK: The check in process was long but pleasant. It was long because we were assigned a third floor room and we wanted a ground floor. We had to wait for a supervisor to come and find us a ground floor close to our family who had already checked in earlier. We completely understand the delay and appreciate their efforts. It took a while to accommodate us but they were able to get it done. The entire time they were pleasant and genuinely cared about making us happy. RESTAURANT RESERVATIONS AND FOOD: The only place you can eat dinner without a reservation is the buffet. If you will be staying at this hotel, make sure you make your dinner reservations weeks in advance of your arrival. Otherwise, you will have a hard time getting a reservation at the restaurant you want. If you do get a reservation, be aware it may be late at night. Also, be advised that if you are a large group, you will probably not be accommodated. Unfortunately, we weren't aware of this so we tried to make our reservations right after checking in. It was a hassle. We were really excited to get a reservation at the restaurant we wanted even though it was at 9:30 pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed they only had 2 things we could order because they had ran out of food. We were very disappointed. The staff was very nice and apologetic but the fact remains, that they ran out of food so we didn't have a good experience from that perspective. We really liked the food at the places we did get to eat at. ROOMS: The rooms are spacious (loved that) but dark and outdated. Our minibar was not restocked daily. We had mosquitoes in our room as well. The ceiling fan had banging noise but we dealt with it. They provide an umbrella which is very helpful as it can rain at a moment's notice in the tropics. There's ample closet space which I loved. Our coffee maker was broken but I didn't notice until the day before we left when I needed some caffeine. ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment at this resort is excellent. They have one of the best entertainment staff we've experienced, and we've visited many resorts in Punta Cana. They have great shows every night. They also have live music every evening at different locations. Our only observation about the entertainment venues is the smoking. There aren't designated smoking sections thus, smokers light up everywhere. I am allergic to the smoke so we couldn't really stay at any of the venues for too long. Moreover, nobody wants to be exposed to second hand smoke. Also, make sure you bring bug spray though. There are a lot of mosquitoes there. GROUNDS AND POOLS: The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The pools are huge, beautiful, and fun. We played bingo and did Zumba at the pool with our kids. OVERALL SERVICE: The overall service at this resort is average. I rate it average because the level of service is inconsistent. It took 2 days to get 4 extra pillows brought to our room. We were told there were supposed to be 2 extra pillows in the closet but there weren't. Moreover, we encountered people that don't really care about their job or your experience but we also encountered people that take pride in their work and care deeply about your experience.

Could be better.

We had two rooms side by side, the A.C. was extremely weak and it took two day for them to bring Ice to our rooms. The second day one of our rooms had a very strong wire burning smell from the vent. It took 3 hours for them to show up to investigate. We had to go and speak to a supervisor to change our rooms due to the smell. Two days wasted in our vacation due to Ice and burning wires smell. The remaining of our vacation days went without a problem. I have been there several times and never had a problem. Management has to retrain the employees and remind them that our customers must be on top of the list for comfort. I decided not to give 5 stars due the problems we had.

When we opened the room door it was a strong mold smell. At first i saw water in the floor but i thought maybe they just cleaned the room. The next day when we woke up i see water licking by the AC and on the wall. The floor was water everywhere. In the the bathroom if you see closer at the wall tiles there's mold everywhere because there's not any aspiration there. We asked to change the room. The guy was very nice he showed us another room. The same smell. Than another one. Finaly that one didn't have any smell. In the end of the day we saw that the fridge didnt work and the security box didnt work. We end up caring our document and money with us all the time. Too much work to change another room. To go to lobby you need the mini "teain" they have because the resort is too big. the Buffet had the same strong moldy smell. I dont eat pork and the only meat was there was pork. No bottled water... ill give 5 stars to the staff. Very friendly and ready anytime. Sorry but that was the first and last time i go at that resort. Oh, they need to make big numbers in the front of the buildings by the road, you get lost easy.

Resort Update
Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has informed us that their Punta Cana complex will undergo improvement projects beginning on July 1, 2019 and continue through late 2019. Included in this project is a complete transformation of the Las Olas I and Las Olas II beach restaurants. Work will be done from July 1-December 15, 2019 between the hours of 8am and 8pm. The services (snacks and drinks) will continue as usual but from the Piscis restaurant and other stations placed around the main pool and beach area. The rooms closest to the area in Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana, Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro, and Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar will be blocked during this time to minimize guest disturbance. Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana will also receive a complete makeover for the lobby bar terrace. This will take place August 20-November 30, 2019. Due to the location of the work, no disturbance to guest rooms is expected and all services will continue as usual at the lobby bar.
