OK, but we won't be back.

The good: the beach and pool were very nice, and there were plenty of towels and chairs. The food and drinks were good for this price range of resort, and especially good at the buffet. Almost every staff member we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. We got a good deal on a week's stay for our family of 3. The Coco Cafe has very good coffee and some good and festive baked goods. We had a nice quiet little balcony where we could hang out after the toddler went to sleep. The TV has Netflix. The animals (flamingos, parrots, tortoises) were really cool to look at. They had fun "drink of the day" specials that were both alcoholic and virgin, so my kiddo got to have fun drinks too. The bad: we thought we were smart enough to avoid the dreaded time share presentation; we were not. We got sucked into a meeting that escalated to the point that a manager was yelling at my wife. Over and over they gaslighted us that "why would you think this is a timeshare?! hahaha!" It's a "loyalty program" where you're locked into decades of monthly payments bigger than my mortgage in return for discounts on hotel stays, so call it whatever you want, it's a bad deal for most people. Other than that, as we knew going into it, the rooms are small and older, and my wife did have the unfortunate experience of hearing our neighbors being intimate (I luckily slept through it). There were 2 beers in the mini fridge when we arrived, and they were never replaced after we drank them. Our 2-year-old was not old enough to go to the Explorers Club except during the very limited hours that families can all go together, so we had to walk by a fun playground lots of times and not be able to go in. There's nothing for kids outside of that, so next time we'd choose a place that has a kids' pool or playground that isn't restricted like that. And the sidewalks are EXTREMELY slippery. My kid fell down constantly and was afraid to walk around, I slipped and skinned my foot and knee, and I saw other (sober) adults fall down too. Overall, we were glad that we went on our trip, especially since we got a deal that was easy on our budget. But next time we'll choose a newer resort and be better at dodging the timeshare hard-sell.

Best Birthday and Anniversary Trip Ever!

I booked this last minute as a Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gift for my husband and me. It was the best gift ever! The online registration and purchase was easy. We booked airfare, transfer, and room all at once, and this is how we will do it every time! We had no worries from the moment we stepped on the plane until we returned home. The staff took care of everything! Our room was incredible with a jacuzzi and ocean view as well as overlooking the pool. The dining options are great, especially in the restaurants like the Sea Side Grill and Himitsu. We enjoyed our first couple's massage at the spa so much that my husband booked a second one for the night before we left. I can't say enough good things about our 11 day stay and how relaxed and rejuvenated we feel! We can't wait to make this an annual vacation!

Not so hot

Nice pool and nice beach. Everything is not a Dream... Food and beverages were sub-par, sometimes even bordered on inedible. The taco lunch by the beach was absolutely nasty; dirty plates that people in line were shuffling through in the hopes of finding a clean one, with nasty meat that we had to spit out, crunchy rice and toppings that were left baking in the sun. Just one example of many times the food was well below average. There is no top shelf liquor to be had unless you upgrade to the preferred club, and it’s not worth it... And be prepared to be up-sold and harassed into buying more and more of everything. From room upgrades, liquor upgrades, excursion trips, photography packages, spa treatments, t-shirts, cigars, wine, paintings, knick-knacks, literally everyone around the resort is straight hustling for more money from you... At times you just feel like you want to be left alone, but unfortunately that only happens when you are poolside or beachside and are look for the waitstaff to bring you a drink... And that’s only going to be watered down booze in 4 ounce plastic cups. The resort is in need of some major renovations all around. The place feels rundown in most areas. This place was a let down. And the $400 is resort coupons was a complete scam. They only let you use them for certain things at certain times. I only got to use a couple of them.

Good Stay

1- rooms are very outdated 2- beach is beautiful 3- entertainment is THE BEST thing about this resort 4- its a family resort so lots of kids around. 5- service (waiters, bartenders etc) are great and funny 6- all restaurants have a very limited menu, not much to choose. Bordoeux restaurant was probably the nicest but still not much to choose from. 7- buffet is so boring same thing everyday Overall What we paid for was a good experience. I dont think we will be back.

As of June 2018 you can bring your furry friend along!

The massive, aahh-mazing pool that stretches from the lobby to the beach.

The 1,643-square foot on-site casino. Lady luck is waiting.

The Deluxe Swim-Out room. You'll feel like royalty, or a rock star. (Or a royal rock star.)

The flamingos, peacocks, parrots, turtles and more - it's like a tropical zoo.

Explorer's club (kids 3-12) with everything from sand castle contests to Plant a Tree & Corn Harvest Project.

Red Cross certified staff supervise the aforementioned club. A relief, right?

Parents get a pager from the Explorer's club, should they be needed for anything.

Chilling in the spa's Zen garden after the Tropical Oasis Body Wrap.

The FREE windsurfing and sailing lessons. (Gotta love free.)

Seaside dining with only the stars and candles to light your night. (There's a fee, but go for it).

What We'd Change

You'll want to keep an eye on the schedule for the restaurants, but there are so many options your taste buds will rejoice in their around-the-world tour.

Why You Should Go

It's 40-minute drive from the airport, but you can relax - you're already in earth-heaven.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get a private lounge & beach, and much more.

Browse the Dominican market with fine handicrafts, hand-made jewelry and more.

For some "you time," there's yoga/stretching and aerobics.

Our world-class golf courses are near. The concierge can hook you up.

Saddle up and go horseback riding. It costs, but it's magical.

Get starry-eyed with the Stargazing Rock 'n Roll party and movies under the stars on the beach.

Tennis (and clinics) are here - nothing like hitting the court under the palms.

Head to the baseball cage for some family throwing and bonding time.

Play Mexican Bingo and after you win, hit the water cycles.

The ocean trampoline is a fav among the kiddos.
