A Perfect Vacation

The Catolonia Punta Cana is a large resort. But after all the great food and drinks, a little walking helps. Do your self a favor and upgrade to Privileged, it is well worth the extra few bucks. Just having your own private beach area with private beach bar was fantastic. And the rooms were spacious and the King bed relaxing. The walk in shower and double sinks worked for us. There was even a pillow menu with 4 or 5 different pillows you could try if the one you have doesn't feel right. Now for the folks that made our vacation wonderful, At the beach PURE Bar our favorite bartenders, Jennifer, Alvin, and Carmen. They not only made great drinks and served them to our lounges but they were friendly, funny and engaging the whole week. At the poolside buffet Palapa keep and eye out for Maria Belen , Carolina, and Wendy. Thank you ladies. The beach was great, they cleaned the seaweed every morning before people showed up. I'm a certified diver but take advantage of the free lesson in the pool and schedule your 1st dive with the instructor and have him take you out to the ship wreck. The maid staff were fantastic, we never had to call to ask for something that may have been missed. All in all, we will return to this resort maybe sooner than later.

Good experience

Overall my stay was great. Loved the resort, they have different activities to do every night. The pool is great, I spent a lot of time there. The beach is just ok. There’s a lot of sewed, rocks and you can see some fishes. Def do not recommend the beach. At the dining area some servers were rude, would not say excuse me or thank you. They came to grab our plates when we were not done. The Italian restaurant is nowhere close to Italian food, I was served mashed potatoes with Steak. The bars have a lot of liquor options Most of the staff speak English, French and Spanish. If you don’t upgrade your room at check-in you are very limited. Had to call 3 times to get some bottle of waters.

Great Vacation for a Last Minute Booking

Service, service, service is what defines Catalonia. The people were professional, attentive, and hard working. There were no fewer than four employees every time I looked around. We were there during Christmas and the New Year. The decorations were beautiful. The New Year’ Eve activies, celebrations, and Grand Buffet were outstanding. All of the staff were dressed in their best and so interactive. Overall, my favorites were the juice beach bar, the crepe bar, the beach, the pool, the Caribbean restaurant, the steakhouse, the lobby bar, and Eddy, the bartender. There was such a large variety of food available to us. This resort really specialized in desserts. It was windy, but that has nothing to do with the resort. There were other places to go, like the pool, to get away from the wind plus it cooled us down. The resort is older but it is maintained well and improvements are constantly being made. Upgrade if you want the newer rooms.

Should be much better

My wife and I spent 15 full days at this resort. The territory of the resort is beautiful, well-kept and maintained in excellent condition. The accommodation is quite comfortable, cleaned regularly, beds and bedding in good condition. There are enough sun beds on the beach, both in the sun and in the shade. However, the coastline of the beach is cleaned very badly. On the shore is full of emissions of marine vegetation. There is a lot of floating algae in the water, the sea is muddy and dirty and unpleasant to enter it. Obviously, therefore, the majority of holidaymakers are concentrated around the pool with chlorinated fresh water, and thus the very meaning of relaxing at the seaside resort is lost. Meals in common restaurants are monotonous, with cheap food products. Beef used for the preparation of second courses is of very low quality, it is tough, therefore it is chewed with great difficulty and, unfortunately, is most often thrown away. In the second half of the lunchtime, some popular dishes end and are no longer replenished. When we addressed the restaurant employees about this, they promised us that they would bring it now, but they never fulfilled their promise. For example, it happened with Spanish paella, cold appetizers, some ingredients for salad, papaya, ice cream and others. Spanish paella is cooked inferior, very rarely it is cooked with such important ingredients as mussels, shrimps, squids. We talked with some holidaymakers who were at this resort in February 2018 and they stated that then the range of common restaurants and the quality of the food was much better and they said that they would not come here anymore. In the existing four specialized restaurants, which can be visited once a week, the range of dishes is simply pitiful. They cook absolutely no tasty from the same completely chewable beef, or from cheap varieties of fish. The dishes in these restaurants are not only not tasty, but also look not aesthetically pleasing. For two weeks we had the right to visit each of the specialized restaurants twice. We are not pretentious to food people, but not having finished the dishes offered, we no longer visit these restaurants. For the entire time of our stay, only five evening entertainment programs were interesting. Two performances of different illusionists with absolutely identical programs were presented with an interval of two days, and the rest of the eveningtruth-lover, apparently with the aim of saving money, was dullly filled by representatives of the resort staff. The resort clearly has a lack of qualified management. There are a lot of idle employees, but most of them are not able to answer basic questions, or they give out incorrect information in general. The Internet works satisfactorily only not far from the place of registration, and in places of residence there is practically no. At the same time, the working staff in the common restaurants, the hawkers on the beach, the territory cleaners work with great effort and are very friendly, helpful and efficient.
