Thief's Paradise
We had a wallet stolen. Video at the Casio shows it very clearly. When we went to security, they did absolutely nothing. They kept saying that they “were trying to help” and were looking into it but wouldn’t give any information as to where the guy went, what they could do even if they found him. My group (5 grown men) found the thief walking and surrounded him to get the wallet back. Again security did nothing. They were more worried about making sure the thief was safe and comfortable rather then getting our property back. (turns out he was a VIP so they immediately forgot who was in the wrong there) The night staff did NOTHING. No report, didn’t get his name or even his room number. They kept saying that we needed to wait until guest services got arrived in the morning to make a report and that they would handle everything. They had the guy right there and didn’t do anything to protect their other paying customers. They wouldn't even call the police for us. They even let the guy back in the casino too! Posted a security guard behind him because they were worried WE would do something to him. Seriously disappointed. Even when we went to guest services in the morning, we didn’t get any help. They started to blame us for not making a report!! They said that the theif was leaving the resort but they didn’t even have his name? Made no sense. So the rep just kept saying we want to help and assist here but then when we ask”do you have a report? Do you have the guys name? Do you have his room number? Do you have anything?” He just stared at me. But he did say “we can arrange transportation to the Police department to help with the official report. We want to help.” THEY DIDNT GET ANY OF THE INFORMATION THE NIGHT BEFORE!! What were they gonna do?? It made no sense. The whole situation was insane and completely unprofessional. We would not have gotten the wallet back if we didn’t have 5 dudes to scare the guy into giving the wallet back. Thief's can get away with anything here no repercussions. They are going to protect the person that pays the most. Hotel didn’t do anything to help/make up for all this. Just kept saying “you got the wallet back, right?” It made the whole resort feel unsafe.

Bad
Problems to the beginning of Arriving. Wrong Room, [privledge area ]. Go to Front Guest Service, Very Rude let you know. So switch us to another, that was good... aah Power out, no Wifi, back to Guest Service.. everyone experiencing this.. LIE!! Talked with people in our Complex, all had everything.. Day 3 switch to another room. Problems with Wifi and TV The grounds was beautiful tho. Beach weedy. Also recommend wearing beach shoes, if swimming . Coral will rip your foot.. Lies they told us on Privileges area. Don't go past the white rope. Well a Bartender said What? You belong in this area. Food: Steak House great. Spanish: Awesome. Buffets, ok. Alot of Walking.. The amount of $$$ I spent, wouldn't recommend. Between rude Guest service, and dinkering around on rooms, and lies.. also have a updated phone, everything done on phones. Reservations etc..

Wonderful chilled holiday
Had a fabulous time here. Returned back to UK yesterday after spending a week here. Travelled as a family of 4 from Manchester airport. Lovely chilled holiday. Good spacious rooms with great air con. Beautiful resort with stunning views, great pool area with plenty of sun beds. Very friendly staff who really seem to enjoy their work. Would highly recommend this resort and hope to go back one day.

Mixed buy mostly good
Lots of positives and overall good, some negatives that didn't ruin the holiday but things could have been a lot better in parts. We personally wouldn't return. I do think you get what you paid for and this was a budget priced holidayfor a caribbeandestination. Negatives No twin privileged room was available to us, despite us booking the upgrade. We heard others in the check in Queue that didn't even get a privileged upgrade despite paying for it. We took the king-size double option as we literally had no choice. We were family members and sharing a bed wasn't really what we wanted. The room was ok,had been upgraded but was tired now, air con was ancient SO noisy and we couldn't sleep with it on at all , it was also very ineffective but weren't too bothered as we weren't going to be in the room that much. The fridge wasn't cold but it stopped them getting hot in the 30 degree hot. The drains smelt awful and the ceiling fan creaked and hummed loudly all night ( we had to have that on as the air con was even louder). We found the staff at the coffee shop to be standoffish and unhelpful, and not listening to the orders ,they kept shouting HOW MANY...many times, to us and others, we witnessed them getting shirty with an elderly couple with the same brutish manner and that was quite upsetting. The Italian restaurant 'mains' food was awful tasteless and cold, we tried 4 off the main over the 2 different nights we booked. The starters off the buffer was lovely and fresh and definitely the best part of our experience on both visits to this particularly restaurant. We didn't try the others as we had a vegetarian in the party and that ruled out the other a la carte restaurants, based on their current menus. The pool has 4 beds to each umbrella, only 2 beds are shaded at any one time, no good if you want some shade and break from the hot sun. There are some covered area's on the outskirts of the pool area. They are gone 1st thing 6/6.30am mostly by selfish people that didn't use them until later in the day. We also found for the number of rooms, one main pool really wasn't enough. There is an adult only pool for people staying on the Royal Bavaro part of the resort but that is still alot of people using the main pool. It was cramped and most bed not under shade. Yes enough beds as the are all rammed in, getting one or 2 in the afternoon wasn't a problem but you were in the full sum. Positives The buffet was brilliant, huge amount of variety, plenty of it for all diets. Regularly replenished so was mostly all hot. Yes some stuff was a little repetitive by the end of the week, but we honestly couldn't understand anyone moaning about the buffet food as it really was very good. The staff on every other work station, bars, security, gardeners, bell boys, reception etc ( except the coffee shop) were fantastic, helpful, cheerful, hard working, nothing was too much trouble. Couldn't fault them. Beach beautiful and so close to the resort just a 5 minute walk from the pool and you were on the waters edge. Seaweed cleared every day at 6am. Vendors selling stuff, never approached us on the days we were there. Toilets to the beach and pool, cleaned constantly. Drinks/cocktails were fabulous and plentiful. Yes Queues by the pool were long at times but we just went up when the Queue was less and waiting for 5 mins realy wasn't a problem. Food by the pool was excellent too, freshly made pizza and hot sandwiches were available lunch time onwards for people not wanting to go to the buffet. A holiday is what you make it, and we didn't let the negatives spoil anything. We experienced too many positives and happy times to think of it negatively it just depends on what you want from a resort.

Ignore the bad reviews!
Was worried after some poor reviews and wish I hadn't wasted my time. The resort is lovely, the whole area is beautifully kept and lovely wildlife. We travelled as a group of 9 from the UK from 3 years to 60 years and there was something for everyone. We stayed in a basic room, however these were spacious and well kept, they are a little dated but this did not effect us as hardly in rooms. Air con was great, fridges were stocked daily with soft drinks and beer but they aren't extremely cold. Service was great at the bars, specifically the pool bar with Jessica, Reynaldo and Yohan. The main lobby bar was also good. There is a great cocktail selection and other drinks available. All staff are friendly and helpful at the bars. The buffet restaurants are OK, there is always something for everyone, the live cooking stations are the best. We also ate at the Italian, Steakhouse and Japenese. The food was nice in them all, but our favourite was the Steakhouse as had most options, we visited twice. There is activities daily but mainly on the beach. There are also non motorised watersports of kayaking, paddleboarding etc. There are always plenty of loungers available. The beach the sellers are annoying but if you use the first 2 rows of loungers they don't pester you as on hotel property, they can only approach as you go past the signs on public part of beach. Overall I would definitely visit again!
