  Very average experience

  I was disappointed and underwhelmed by the Riu Palace Bavaro. The hotel is large and expansive, however the check-in desk is overwhelmed and the wait long. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but nothing spectacular. There are several restaurants, but even though there were free tables we saw them turn people away and point them to the buffets. There is a lack of fresh juices, orange juice at breakfast was a tang like semi transparent liquid, and each request for juice from a bar met with an overly sweet concoction of syrup and water. The pools were good and service fast at most of the pool bars. I would not say that this is a five star or even four star experience.

  Great resort with something for everyone

  The Hotel RIU Palace Bavaro is an incredible resort. Definitely something for everyone. The sea is beautiful. The beach is beautiful with lots of space and lounge chairs for everyone. There are 11 pools including a huge water park, kids area, kids pools, adult pools and areas. There are many dining options including a food court that has anything you want. The buffet is so good with many different options for everyone. The sushi at the buffet is delicious. There are several live cooking stations with any thing from hotdogs to steak. Francesca, Is a great server. Very friendly and she doesn’t let your wine glass stay empty for long. The à la carte restaurants are also great. The steakhouse serves steak and lobster as well as many other options. We were in villa 41 in the adult section. The room was very spacious, cool and had everything you need including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and a coffee maker, hair dryer etc. the bed was very comfortable. They also have family rooms which is nice for people with small kids. We never had one bad experience and we will definitely go back. There is a store right on the resort within a 5 minute walk that has a small pharmacy, souvenirs, cigars etc.

  Worst Birthday/Hotel stay ever!!

  My spouse submitted a review for the RIU Palace Bavaro and instead of apologizing/ take accountability, they are trying to justify the distasteful behavior of their staff and the poor/unacceptable state of their rooms! Clearly they didn't take the time to read the review in its entirety or do their research!! 1. The trip was booked DIRECTLY with RIU.com! Not a third party!! My spouse is a Riu class member therefore she books EVERY RIU hotel stay directly with the company! Which third party are they referring to? We stayed from October 28th-November 2nd in room 6130! 2. The front desk representatives spoke English very well including Richard! and she spoke enough Spanish to understand/respond to them! 3. The ants, the spiders, and the Cockroach in the food area by RFC (that I had to ask the resort employee to kill/clean up) should not be taken lightly! Blaming the location and weather are simply poor excuses! We've never experienced these terrible conditions anywhere else. 4. The random men painting on our balcony with absolutely NO form of communication from the front desk is a major privacy/safety concern and also should NOT be taken lightly!! Especially since I had my family with me!! They also left the balcony a complete mess. 5. She gave specific date/time/location/names and those were all overlooked. An employee taking his name tag off after being disrespectful to ME is a clear indication that employees do as they please! 6. This was my BIRTHDAY trip and first time ever visiting the Dominican Republic and the resort staff ruined my experience with their rude and dismissive behavior!! It is truly sad that management quickly responded with falsified information, trying to deflect from everything we experienced. This hotel is a lost cause! I know they will NOT put in the necessary work to ensure future guests of our kind have a better experience. Spend your money elsewhere!!!

  This was our second time at this resort and we must say that this place is by far an excellent resort. Friendly, excellent staff and beautiful facility.

  Love that there are multiple pool options

  Loved that the water park was on site and that there are multiple pools and pool bars so you don’t have to venture far from your building. The ventilation in the room could be better as we could smell cigarette smoke from other rooms and the first night there was a moldy smell but it never came back. Litter under the pool chairs were sometimes the for multiple days so public areas could be cleaner but overall was a lovely stay and I would come back.
