We just got back from a weeks stay at this resort. The resort is beautiful and kept very clean. Staff are friendly. The beach is beautiful. There was some seaweed but the staff cleaned it as best as possible. We had a connecting room in the main building. The food here is mediocre. We liked the steakhouse and zen the best. But it sucks that you need to stand in line by 6:00pm in order to get a table at the restaurants. The Italian was the worst. Appetizers were good but waiting 2 hours to get a plate of pasta is ridiculous. In the food court my family enjoyed the wok station the best. Please be very careful with the chicken nuggets/tenders. Thank god my son cut into it as It was raw chicken. However a lot of kids help themselves to that station and they probably just eat them without checking. Burgers were also pink at the American country restaurant even after you tell them to make it well done. Just check your food before eating it especially the meat or fish. I have never eaten so many carbs on a vacation before. Meat , fish was not cooked properly and I didn’t eat any salads. Sports bar smelt of sewage. My teens wanted to play pool but it smelt bad in there. The nightly entertainment here is lacking. We had more fun playing bingo at the casino than watching the magic show or karaoke.

Great vacation for the entire family
RIU Palace Bavaro exceeded all of our expectations. From the service, to the rooms, cleanliness, food and drinks. This was the first time at an all inclusive for our boys and they could not believe all that RIU had to offer. The water park was a bonus that our entire family enjoyed. Everyone we had contact with was friendly and willing to help in any way. Thank you to the entire staff who made our family vacation something we will remember for a lifetime

This is a great resort. It checked all my boxes. Lots of solid structure shade by the pool, and trees for shade on the beach. We always found a place to sit. Great restaurants with excellent service. We had requested a lower floor room on the Riu App before the trip, but that was denied. The room was excellent except for the window between the bedroom and bathroom. Great way to wake your spouse in the middle of the night! Always had hot water, and never ran out of drinking water. The entertainment was the usual. Only one show was really good - Rock Station. Wifi was ok except when we tried to play Bingo, which was cancelled several times. Most of the music by the pools was way too loud. it was impossible to talk to one another. Even if you were at another pool when the music was blasting, it was still loud. No napping by the Adults Only pool after 2:30! There should be ashtrays by the garbage cans. Smokers will use them instead of the ground or the garbage can if they are provided. Another thing I would like is a central help yourself coffee urn in the early morning. We have had this at other resorts and it is so nice not to have to trudge all the way to the Sports Bar in my PJ's and get the bartender to make 4 cups of coffee to fill my cup. Lots of kids there and many of them cranky and overtired - but that's the parents responsibility. All in all a very good resort, one that I may come back to.
