Super chill vacation in the D.R.
This was our first visit to the Gran Ventana. From the moment we arrived, everything went smoothly. The location is only 20 mins. from the airport, super convenient. Check-in was seamless, our room was clean and ready, and the resort is small and very easy to get around. The staff were very kind, the atmosphere is very chill and although the resort is smaller, it never felt crowded, busy or loud. The entertainment crew were great, offering all sorts of fun activities throughout the day and evening. Bingo, pool aerobics, yoga, zumba, step class, volleyball etc...the list goes on and on. The gym has all the equipment you need to get a good workout in for the day, the a-la-carte restaurants were easy to book (3 to try, all very good and great service - very generous portions...delicious!). The buffet and beach grill had great food choices with plenty of options and great hours of operation...we ate very well...the food is absolutely delicious!! We stayed in the Saona bldg...it was lovely, quiet, we had a beautiful balcony and the grounds are all impeccable...no bad views from any of the rooms. You can tell the staff take pride in their work. We paid a fair bit to come to this resort but it is my understanding you can get some really good deals depending on the season. We did do one 1/2 day excursion with Camel Safari Exporing - the sunset party boat cruise (snorkling, swimming, food, drinks, dancing and a beautiful sunset to end the cruise)...we had a blast...definitely recommend it...the crew, especialdly "Chocolate" was fun, we met alot of wonderful people and we had a great time! We booked our excursion through Nexus Tours (Our rep. Bernie was the absolute best...he was super informative and helpful. He took very good care of us and was always readily available at the resort). The beach is lovely, with shallow water, great for the elderly, children and people who can't swim...there were always plenty of chairs and shade areas...we would walk for miles either way and felt safe. We brought cat food/treats for the resort cats...they were all so cute and friendly...looks like they are very well taken care of as well. There are beach dogs as well...super friendly and appreciate dog food/treats!! We hope that everyone who comes here has the same great experience we had...thank you Gran Ventana!

Paradise at a great price!
Apologize in advance for the long review. Just coming back from another wonderful week and wanted to share some highlights as reality sets in back at home. I enjoyed the recent upgrades and the delicious repeated guests dinner on Wednesday; best dinner so far. I'd like to highlight some of the staff that made me feel like family. Stepping off the bus and seeing Solange and Anthony with their warm welcome at Customer service. Having Premium, I walked upstairs to check in and was greeted by a hug from the always helpful Sujeidy. The wonderful staff at the Vintage from Ricardo in the mornings with his infectious smile and the extraordinary top notch service of both Olvi and Santa in the evenings. Walking to the quiet pool, I'm always welcomed by both Jacquie and Juan for their jokes and candor. Being well served at the beach by Aquilino and Amable while Jose and David making the delicious drinks and Jose ensuring we always had a clean Bali bed ready to go for the sun. Special thanks to the beach bartenders Luis Miguel and Maderlyn for being so welcoming and making me Tiki Tiki! 😀 All the restaurants were great in offering a variety of cuisine choices but especially to Mamma Maria and Jesus at the Italian for their exceptional service regardless of how busy they were. Rosa always welcomed you while entering the Buffet and for Raoul and his staff for being attentive, prompt and courteous. For the maintenance staff, Juan Carlos and Jose Luis in my opinion the hardest working guy at the resort. Finally the Management led by example from Oscar, the extremely hard working Sension and the passionate Dionicio to ensure all is going well at night. Thank you for another amazing week and for this small resort that truly treats you like family. I would rebook without hesitation based on the overall experience at this hotel. Gracias con mucho amor!!

Stretching each morning with Christine from nrg2go and her water aerobics classes were very energetic and fun. The night entertainment was great too. I can't wait to go back to this resort. Wonderful Week!
We had a fantastic time at this resort last week that exceeded our expectations! We upgraded to premium package upon arrival and enjoyed the special area on the beach with some amazing staff-Ricardo & Aquilino. The Vintage Club and assistance by Santa was amazing especially for happy hour and appetizers. Our room was nice and extra clean thanks to Olga. I wish that our air conditioning was a bit lower as the bathroom floor never seemed to dry. Others had no problem with the temperature in their rooms. The food was great and I was impressed that the buffet had soy milk as well as gluten free and vegetarian options. I loved trying the Dominican foods on the buffet too. We ate at the three a la carte restaurants and enjoyed Ocean & Italian the best. Restaurant & Buffet service was amazing and tips are most appreciated. The beach was nice and we got to know others at the resort and enjoyed many chats with our Canadian friends. We chatted with some of the beach hawkers and got to know more about the culture. I got a few beach massages from Blondie and trinkets from 72 Pedro Martinez. We met so many retuning guests and are looking forward to visiting Gran Ventana again next year.
