Fun long weekend

Had a great time at the Dominicus Dreams Resort ...the room was beyond what i expected ! Definitly pay the extra for the preferred club it’s worth it ! Private dining with no line no waiting for breakfast and lunch special bar with higher quality liquor ..the pools and beach are picture perfect ,open bar lots of fun ...our only complaint was the food quality for dinner ..just not up to par with everything else ...menu items sounded good but when they arrived they were just not tasty at all ...but overall I would recommend just don’t have high expectations for dinner !

I will focus on the good parts first. Resort was very pretty. Clean and well maintained. We had a large group and some were on a budget so we had the Deluxe Tropical View rooms. (our tropical view was the back side of the building overlooking a construction zone) The beds were very comfortable and the room was large and very clean. The service at the bars was excellent and most of the restaurant service was good. The beach was well maintained and kept clean. When I booked a party of 14 (7 couples) it was to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We could only go for a long weekend so we wanted to make the most of the time we were there. Our booking agent informed me that the trip from the airport to the resort would take approximately 45 minutes. The trip took and hour and 20 minutes so we didn't even arrive the first day until 3:30. Only 3 of the 7 rooms were ready. By the time all of us were checked in, it was 5 o'clock. Because we had such a long ride back to the airport on day 4, we had to leave the resort at 9:25 AM. So essentially, we really had only 2 full days to enjoy our stay. I think our agent should have tried to book an airline that flew into Punta Cana rather than Santo Domingo. At best, he should have been honest about the travel time. Our first restaurant experience was at the Portofino. The food was terrible. The service was worse than terrible. Period. Our second and third dining made up for the first. The Bordeux was very nice and the food and service were excellent. We went to the Asian hibachi restaurant the third night (because it was the birthday dinner and the only restaurant that took a reservation for 14) and the experience was great. The food was good, our chef was very entertaining and they sang to my daughter and really tried to make the best of her birthday. I noticed many rooms that had banners across the doors for honeymoons, anniversaries and birthdays and although our agent and the resort knew about the birthday, that was not done for my daughter. No big deal, but why not? All in all everyone had a good time, but since my husband and I have traveled quite a bit, this was not up there on our favorite place to stay. It was a good value for the money (since we did not upgrade in any way) but it's not some place I will return to. This is our second time booking with Cheap Caribbean and probably my last. I think I could have worked out the logistics better myself by booking a resort and airline separately. But it you are on a limited budget, it was nice.

Just the two of us

We did the deal of fortune and was given this resort. It is very nice..smaller than the usual which we enjoyed. It was quaint with rooms like apartments Smaller property..so easy to get around.. The beach was beautiful..not much trash as some are in the DR. We paid extra to have a romantic dinner in the gazebo. It was amazing! Richardo was an excellent server! The two man mariachi band was perfect! They are so good!! The staff is friendly and room cleaned to a t! The down side was the foid was good but not great. It might be our personal taste. The night entrainment was also excellent. We miss it already! Great relaxing fun!!
