Think before you book

Unfortunately our stay at Sunscape Curaçao was disappointing to say the least. There is a laundry list of things that went wrong or didn’t meet expectations so I will try to summarize below: -Our room was not ready when we arrived at 5 pm. We had to wait around for an hour after traveling for 9 hours to get our room. Once we finally got it, no one walked us there like they did with the rest of the people. -The room is no where close to what is pictured. See attached photos. The sliver of patio was more that disappointing. Most rooms are the concrete and not the hardwood like pictured. -Clock radio was outdated to the pre-lightning port iPhones and the cords were cut in half. -Food is average or less than at best. Frequently cold, they run out of options very early. Never a “Chef’s Choice” so don’t bother on asking. Meat is so tough you will literally chew a piece for 5 minutes. It’s edible but not what we have experienced at other all inclusive. -We were a part of the SunClub. Don’t waste your money. The only “perk” is that your beach chairs have a pad on them but guess what...there are no bracelets or anyway to identify who belongs in the resort and at what tier you have purchased. So just get an air bnb and walk in, they will never ask you. Same goes for sunclub, people who were not suppose to be at the private pool and bar were. What gives? -We were only able to get them to refill our mini fridge 2 nights of our 6 night say. You have to hound them to do things and it’s exhausting. We also would sometimes get wash clothes and some times not. We never got a room service menu after asking multiple times but gave up after I saw what was on it. Other good resorts put this place so far down its laughable. -We waited 2 hours to eat at the seafood place and we got there at open. They cannot turn tables over to save their life. After those 2 hours we were finally seated and then waited another 2 hours to get our food. From 6:45-10:45 we were trying to eat dinner. Unacceptable. -the frozen drink machines were broke consistently and they were out of ingredients enough for it to be noticeable during our stay. Now that I’m off my soap box, the beach is incredible and they have a walk retaining wall that has thousands of fish and other sea life. If you decided to ignore my warning and come, rent snorkel gear from the dive shop for $15 for 24 hours and swim out to the rocks. The rocks also keep the waves from crashing in, which is nice as well. The water is amazingly clear. It was our first time in the Caribbean but you can easily see 20 feet in front of you underwater and 5-7 feet while standing looking down. There are plenty of pools to pop around to but the beach and ocean water is so nice, not sure why you would choose the pools. Good luck but this was our first and last Sunscape resort. Maybe the Paradisus La Perla in Playa De Carmen spoiled us and now we will just continued to be let down, but I doubt they are all this bad.

Excellent service

The employees at the resort were very helpful, accommodating and kind. The food options and drink options at the resort were very good, one of the best that I have experienced at an all inclusive resort. There were lots of activities available for the guest. It is a very good location for families (at times I wished it was an adult resort). The beaches available were beautiful and there were plenty of lounging chairs available. The only thing that I didn’t care for was the fact that I couldn’t get a king size bedroom for my husband and I.

Worst Resort So far

The beaches were Amazing and snorkeling was great. Our excursions were good to but the service was terrible Most of people (servers) except for the steakhouse and the pool bar acted as if it was a Chore to help you We complained at the front desk our rooms were suppose to be king size bed and we got two full beds Thier reply would be your on vacation have a drink at the pool. Our hot water was out along with airconditioner and again they told us to have a drink .relax When our rooms were cleaned we may or may not of gotten towels back or wash clothes.etc. They did not drop off any snacks like most results either. The entertainment was terrible the best night was kareoke and that's because of the guests. We would not recommend it .

What's to Love

Red carpet check-in at Sunscape Curacao while relishing welcome treats like chocolate chip cookies or frozen pops.

Delicious treatments like strawberry hydrating facials and chocolate mani/pedis. Yum.

The luscious body wraps (for those who don't want to be tempted with naughty, sugary treatments).

The casino (adults-only) with over 300 slot machines and games (if you get too sun burned & wanna cool off).

Cool, exercise-y stuff to check out like a rock climbing wall and Sumo wrestling.

You can learn Papiamentu - a language that is mix of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English and French.

60 pristine, world-renowned diving sites. Here, you can really make a splash. (Ba dum dum).

Getting to feed turtles, sharks, stingrays, plus a dolphin experience at Sea Aquarium Park.

What We'd Change

The shore is close to the hotel, so you won't take long walks through the sand to get to the ocean. But if taking long walks on the beach is your thing, you can always walk along the shoreline.

Why You Should Go

It's just 10 miles away from the airport. Woot!

The Sun Club, a family-centric program with everything from room upgrades to cartoons in the rooms.

The island is outside of the hurricane belt, so it's good to visit year-round.

It's two miles away from Willemstad, where you can enjoy world-class shopping along with historic sightseeing (if you're into that kind of thing).

Golf is available at the nearby Blue Bay Golf Course and there are two lit tennis courts.

The beach is close to the hotel, so no long trek to reach the ocean.

Eco-adventure tours are available. Bring your bug spray, just in case.

Map of Local Area

Thanks in part to its location outside of the hurricane belt, and in part to the coral reefs that surround it, Curacao is a popular destination any time of the year.
