Very Disappointing
Terrible from the start. At check-in we were not told that our room did not have A/C (wasn't working). After we got to the room, saw the one floor fan going, felt the extreme heat of the room, we went back down to inquire. It was then that we were told "the problem is being worked on." Asked for a different room, only to be told they couldn't do that. Forced to stay in the room, asked for a 2nd fan but nope, didn't get that. Next day, again told the A/C was being worked on but by 3:00 in the afternoon it was still not working and again we were told no to moving into a different room. Seriously? Asked for any room as long as it had A/C...."No"...Therefore, we checked out and came to a wonderful place 3 miles down the road and were welcomed with a smile and A/C

Mediocre resort but gorgeous ocean and beach
The drinks and bartenders were excellent. The water is gorgeous and be a very clean. The rooms had major issues with air conditioner and when it’s 90-95 that makes a miserable sleep experience. Showers weren’t consistently temperatures it was either very hot or cold. 1 of the 4 restaurants was closed for renovations so that would have been good to know and 2 out of the remaining 4 were closed we’ve other day leaving only a Buffett and beach front restaurant that was out of a lot of their menu items.

Do not come here.....
Literally a 2 star class hotel. We are in the Sun club, room is 820p building. Room is dated, old mattress, old furniture, closet doors off their tracks, missing light bulbs on the lights, ceiling lighting not working, TV is off the wall and leaning on the desk, patio door is stuck, blackout curtains do not move all the way closed, doors don't close correctly. Buffet is not good at all. Everything is outside except for the Italian restaurant so you will be sweating while eating. The Sunclub restaurant literally has pigeons on the tables. Food is left outside, without refrigeration, at the buffet. Milk is warm, no ice keeping it cool. Please, please do not waste your money here. There are much better value all inclusive resorts in Dominican Republic and Mexico that are cheaper, newer, bars/restaurants indoors, bigger buffets, etc.

Very Dissatisfied
Disappointed overall, no management anywhere in site, the 2 a la carte restaurants had horrible service and food was not worth the wait, we had to go to buffet after, they had a japanese restaurant where the cook cooks the food in the middle surrounded by 9 people and does presentations with fire, we didn't go to that one because after the 2 bad experiences with the other a la carte. The buffet was the same thing everyday and not tasty at all, I would say a step lower than mediocre, the desserts were something to be desired other than they had fruit popsicles but all the good ones would run out and they continued to put the flavor nobody likes everyday and just stays there instead of putting a lot more of the flavors that people like. And the buffet eating area has no A/C, no fans. Its horrible eating sweating and dripping sweat, feeling sticky being that its so hot and humid. They should at least have fans in the ceilings, one would think being owned by Hyatt they could provide that. The breakfast was the only part that was good, tho it was catered to americans, there wasn’t any good pastries as Europeans and south americans like sweet pastries , croissants , danish, etc in the morning, the coffee shop had some pound cake slices , dry cinnamon rolls and some shortbread like cookies that would run out quickly because that was the best of all the stuff there that people would get. The beach was the only thing that made this resort tolerable, the pool area was nice also, they didn't have a snack area with quick bites to grab when one is at the beach or pool you had to go to the other side of resort where one of the la carte restaurant was at to get burgers, fries, wings, fish tacos, and it wasn't buffet style , you have to order it and wait. The daquiris and pina coladas were good and they had real ice cream in the afternoons by the pool area , 2 flavors, that was good. The entertainment at night was not to my par, only our first night was entertaining , they had a brazilian carnival parade. The rest of the nights they had a piano player , another night a saxophone player and our last night a guitar player, it gets boring after 30 minutes. they had no shows. Its a waist because they have big stage by the beach, Our room was nice. Age was noticeable but as long as it was clean i didn’mind that it was dated. Bathroom/shower had good water pressure, they’re wad only one public bathroom. The resort shop was rip off, my husband had lost his phone charger, they had phone chargers but cos $97 us dollars. Insane!! We had to go to the grocery store a few blocks down driving snd he got one for $10 us dollars. All the buildings where the rooms are have 3 floors with no elevator They’re was only one building the have 5 or 6 floors tgat had elevator but those rooms must of been the higher up in price. There was a lot of older couples staying snd i imagine is was a challenge to go up 3 flight of stairs, they should have elevators in all the buildings . The only reason we stayed at this resort was the beach and that it was all inclusive. If you’re a hanging out at the pool person and not a beach person and don’t mind having to rack up a food and drink bill when you check out, don’t stay here, I expected more from Hyatt

Amazing beach, but the resort itself is sadly meh.
We booked two oceanview rooms at sunclub level, one with a king, one with doubles. We got to the rooms to see both had kings. With two adult sons sharing the 2nd room, this would not work. We were told MULTIPLE times they would get another bed to separate the king box spring, instead, they simply opened the couch and my adult son had to sleep on it for 2 nights before getting the room switched. No compensation, no real apology. Restaurants are only open for limited times, (several hour gaps between), with nothing to get except room service, or slices of bread/rolls at the small c afe. People come on the Sunclub side (more $$) even if they're not part of it, nothing separating sections. The swimup (bar) pool was filled with children and treated like a kids pool for the drinking parents. Buffet basically served the same food, every day. And with Bluefish Grill under renovations, Oceana was not a Sunclub only restaurant and wait time was long, due to being shortstaffed. A few bars kept running out of alcohol by late afternoon. The beach itself is absolutely breathtaking and the wall is perfect for snorkeling! Iguanas are all over the resort and they love the sweetbreads from the café! We would like to highlight the following people as well, as they were amazing! Brizaida & Annisha at the VIP desk in the lobby, Alana from Amstar and last but not least, Kenneth at the Ocena bar, he was the best bartender there! Make sure you try his "Kenneth Special" drink!!
