"Our visit was just after they had several days of bad weather, and some beach was lost but they said next storm from other direction would bring it all back in. There seem to always be staff working on..." – IndianaJoe

I have traveled to most islands in the Caribbean always staying at an all inclusive. The options for doing so in the Cayman Islands were minimal and pricey at best. Therefore, after having received a great, low offer to go and stay at the Marriott within a short time span it seemed like a great way to go there. Upon checking in through the Marriott Rewards Program, our room was upgraded from basic to courtyard with a pretty view of the turtle pool. The room was spacious, clean, and appealing with a refrigerator. The resort fee covered an employee set up of beach chairs with fresh towels. Someone always came around to give you fresh ice water or order a cocktail (pricey). The pool snack mentioned in their add was minimal at best. Food was very expensive both in the indoor casual restaurant, The Veranda or at the take and go counter. We walked to local restaurants nearby grabbing an umbrella often for the rain that occurred daily. Food was the same price as in Florida; however, portions were small, a 15% gratuity was added on and a "CI" charge (US monies are worth .78 to the Cayman Dollar and have to be converted). A $35 lunch would end up costing $51 or more. We bought snacks from home, shopped at the convenience store across the street, avoided over priced entrees and did fine overall. The Marriott only provided entertainment for some dinners and lacked a total "resort" feel.

Best vacation ever!

This trip was the best vacation my husband and I ever took! We took this trip to celebrate our 10th anniversary and I am so happy we chose the grand Cayman Island as our destination. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and the hotel was beautiful. The best bite of food we had was at the Marriott’s anchor and den restaurant on tapas night - the food was mind blowing good. Overall the hotel service was impeccable and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely planning on visiting The Cayman Islands again.

Beach gone.

The picture on the website showed a large Beach however this is not true. The beach was eroded away with the last hurricane and you're packed in like sardines on the beach very disappointing. The room smelled like mildew. We called Marriott front desk they came up and ran a machine in the room which helped mask the smells slightly but still smell like mildew. With what they charge for they staying per night many other better options on 7 Mile Beach.

Perfect

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Marriott, and I must say it was superb! The hotel is immaculate, looks like it has been recently renovated. The rooms were spacious, clean, well decorated, with comfy beds and a nice size balcony. There is a small fridge in the room for beverage as well as a water filter located near the ice machine. The highlight is hands down seven mile beach, it is one of the prettiest beaches I've seen in the carribean. There are stationary floaters located all along the shore, you can relax in them and enjoy the sun while keeping cool. There is also food service on the beach, you literally never have to get out of your beach chair. The food and drinks were delicious, the menu had a ton of variety. Paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis and a banana boat are on site, for a fee. We had dinner at the Veranda, the food and staff were amazing! The hotel is also within walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops. With that said, budget travelers beware, Cayman overall is expensive. Be prepared to spend a bit more than you would on most islands. However we had such a great experience, I have no regrets. Additionally Cayman is very laid back, we did not attempt to go out dancing, but were told the most nightclubs close at midnight. So if you are looking for a "party" atmosphere, you may not find it there. I came back relaxed and well rested, no complaints there either. In summary, the standard of service was really elevated, everyone from the front desk to the beach staff were super friendly.

What's to Love

Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort is centrally located on Grand Cayman's famous Seven Mile beach. Some of the best restaurants, shops, and night clubs and George Town is only 2 miles away from the resort.

What We'd Change

Don't forget to pack your sunscreen. It can be pretty expensive to purchase on the island.

Why You Should Go

With its extremely calm waters, it's the perfect location for family snorkeling. When they say steps away from the beach, they're not kidding!

Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort: Snorkel and Play at Seven Mile Beach

It's time to leave your worries behind and give yourself the Caribbean vacation you've earned at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on the pristine, coral sands of world-famous Seven Mile Beach. This beach and its warm water is one of the best in the Caribbean for a reason: a reef perfect for snorkeling just a couple feet off shore! Dotted with lounge chairs and umbrellas, this sun-washed stretch of sand draws couples and families alike.

Running 85-feet along the beachfront, the pool at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort is best enjoyed with a mai tai from the poolside Sol Bar, and couples love the hot tub or a romantic stroll in the lagoon-style courtyard with its lush plants. From classic Italian to international gourmet, there are plenty of choices after a long day in the sun. If seafood is what you're yearning for, the all-you-can-eat lobster meal on Wednesday nights is a sure hit at oceanfront Solana.

What better way to take advantage of the unbelievable water than jumping in for scuba diving, windsurfing, or sailing? You can also see underwater sights in one of the largest glass-bottom boats in the world, or you can take a trip on an Atlantis Submarine. If you really want to get up close and personal, book an excursion to Stingray City, where you literally get to swim with the fishes! If adventure by land is more your speed, an evening sunset ride on horseback, booked through Pampered Ponies, is just right for you. Tired from taking in the sights? La Mer Spa at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort gets you de-stressed and ready for more with a Phyto-Marine body therapy, which releases tension and boosts energy with seaweed-and-rich-marine-clay extract.

After a recent $15-million renovation, the five-story, 273-guestroom resort lets you unwind in style with the Deluxe Island View room. If you're traveling with kids, the Courtyard guestroom is spacious enough to sleep four and features a patio or balcony that overlooks the gorgeous tropical garden.
