Horrible and disgusting!

Hello, My husband, sister, and I have just left the Warwick Paradise Island, Bahamas “resort” from a three night stay. I cannot emphasize enough how displeased I am with our stay. I have traveled to 35+ countries and have never experienced a place as disgusting as we experienced at the Warwick. Where to start? We should have had an idea of how disorganized and unprofessional this place is when we first arrived and no one even stepped out onto the portico to help with bags or welcome us in. We carried our stuff in from our taxi and went up to wait in line at the reception desk. Three different employees working at the three different desks never even greeted us. We ended up in Walter’s line, whose name tag identified him as a “trainee.” I told him that we’d like to check in. We had booked our stay through the third party website, CheapCaribbean.com. I gave him all of this info- names, confirmation code, copies of our booking. He said he could not find our reservation and told us to “go wait over there until someone else can look your stuff up.” So, we waited in a small lobby while Walter and his two coworkers stood at their receptions desks l, seemingly not busy at all. After waiting for 10 or 15 minutes with no progress, I walked back up to Reception and asked another employee working at a desk to please get us checked in. Walter interjected by saying, “I’m waiting on Sondra to get up here. I got it. I’ll call someone to get you a drink.” We waited some more in the lobby- never acknowledged by anyone else and certainly no drink. A little while later, the elusive Sondra arrived, told me to forward her my confirmation email from CheapCaribbean and said we would be in room 1209. We received armbands and started making our way to our room. We dropped our bags in what can only be described as a Motel 6- quality room that we noticed right away had a bathroom that is smaller than most powder rooms. We thought this was supposed to be a resort, but we changed and headed back down to get something to drink and eat, naively still optimistic at this point. The only place open at this time for something to eat was the pizzeria nestled beside the cloudy, overcrowded pool that had cigarette butts floating in it. We ordered a couple of items to share and waited on a table. The food was horrible at best. We had a garden salad, fries, burgers, and pizza. I’ve had better quality good from a gas station. We visited the bathroom near the pizzeria while we were down there. This place ought to be ashamed- toilet paper all over the floor, dirty sink, trash overflowing, and barely any lighting so that the outside door had to be left open to even see what was going on. The rest of our stay was just as bad- the restaurants were all dirty and the buffet rarely received any cleaning of stray food items. A disgusting mess. The food was on par with what one might buy at a chain buffet, but if I’m being honest, it was probably worse. We had a neighbor across the hall from us that was wheelchair bound and went fishing from the dock daily. We started to suspect that he was keeping bait or caught fish in his room because there was a terrible smell in the entire hallway that seemed to emanate from his room. Who knows, though, it could have been sewage. I wouldn’t expect much better from this place. One of the most maddening things about this resort was their beach policy. If one didn’t sign up a day in advance, you were told that you couldn’t ride the shuttle to Cabbage Beach. Luckily, we did, but it was a joke down there, too. There were literal thugs (sagging pants, missing teeth, long untucked T-shirt, dirty fingernails) running the food station at the beach. No one was identified as being an employee of Warwick and we were told to grab our own beach towel out of a trash bag but told that we “have to bring it back or ‘we’ will be charged.” On Sunday, July 14, a small thunderstorm popped up that lasted all of 15 minutes and then blue skies immediately returned. All of the Warwick guests were made to get off the beach and told that we could not return because of the storm (that had already passed.) I can’t say that one staff member was helpful or even polite. I can’t emphasize enough how terrible and absolutely disgusting this “resort” is. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding our stay. There is more that I could say but I’m about to board a plane to go back to a place that can at least keep a bathroom clean. I certainly am telling all of my family and friends to never stay at a Warwick anywhere. We stayed from 7/12-7/15.

Pictures will fool you!

The resort is pretty small. Everyone will see each other more than once. That isn’t the bad thing about the resort. Don’t let the photos of the beach fool you. The female workers seem as if they always have an attitude. The food at the buffet area isn’t always served warm. The restaurants on the resort aren’t always open. I was there for 4 days and didn’t eat at one. Making a reservation was beyond annoying and there weren’t any openings when we wanted. Plus I heard that the food wasn’t the best. We stayed off of the resort for most of the time. Activity list wasn’t followed, sometimes they didn’t do any activity for the day, only at night when the DJ played the same music over and over again. All in all, the resort wasn’t the worst, I would only recommend this resort if you’re someone that wants R&R. If you always want something to do everyday, I strongly don’t recommend. Oh yea, another plus was that it was easy to walk to local areas and cabs weren’t expensive

Excellent Service!

We got home last night and had a wonderful trip. The hotel was intimate, small and cozy. It is NOT like the Atlantis or other large resorts. However, we walked to the Atlantis nightly. (10 minutes) The pool is really great, but there is NO beach. Please be aware of this. They offer only 2 shuttles (10am and 11am) daily, but you have to sign up for it at 7:30am, which we did not like. Who wants to set an alarm on vacation? They only take 18 people per bus and its sort of a production. That is the only thing we would change looking back. The staff was superb and the specialty restaurants were amazing. I wish they had another specialty restaurant. I would recommend the resort and may return one day!

LOVE the Bahamas ....but NOT the HOTEL

I don’t normally ever complain or even write a review however we were extremely disappointed. CHEAP and understaffed is an understatement of how this property was! When we first checked in. It was like the receptionist was a robot. She had the speech down that even when I made a joke that we have the penthouse she just said OK. I don’t think she heard anything we said. She stared into space while reciting the two pages you have to sign. The pool was fun and large but the filter system definitely didn’t work ! It was disgusting film on it everyday in the same spot. Entertainment was actually nothing but a DJ. We definitely made our own fun while we were there and met some great people. Not that we needed a life guard but he either was napping or staring at his phone. I would love to get paid to do that everyday in the sun. However, we all agreed the food was not good at all. It was cold and the same selections everyday. They never replenished any of the desserts once they were gone. Tables were never set up completely so you never knew if someone was sitting at a table or not. You sat yourself. You weren’t offered any drinks and they don’t let you know you can get wine or champagne during any of your meals. We were only offered water and at one point because they are short staffed and no one was around I ended up pouring my own from the waitress station. The roof was leaking in the main dining room and it looked like the roof was ready to cave in that exact same spot. Very scary. The other restaurants are quite small and if you don’t have reservations your not getting in. The only one we thought that had decent food and was actually hot food was the Italian restaurant. On our first full day our room was never cleaned. Your only allowed one towel per person at the pool and the woman who worked at that station was miserable. On a positive note if you go there make sure you have MONETE as your cocktail server. She was AWESOME! She made us feel great at the pool. She was funny, caring, and definitely worked her butt off. Two servers were there at the pool everyday and they were on overload. At one point they had to be told to jump behind the bar to help the bartenders serve people at the bar which meant they were doing THREE jobs at once. Serving food from the grill, serving cocktails and even bartending all day! Understaff is an understatement! Need better selections of foods and should be served HOT! Cleaning the pool at 10:00 when it opens and people are swimming in it and going around the guests with a skimmer is unacceptable. There was only one safety concern we had while on the property and I was confronted by their security asking if I was ok and if I felt uncomfortable. They obviously were watching a woman that was making guests feel uncomfortable. So when I did tell the Security officer she stated she was going to have her removed and that she was extremely intoxicated. She spoke to this individual and then after five mins she allowed this individual to come back into the bar. This individual then proceeded to harass other guests and nothing was done. So myself and other guests proceeded to leave the area and we were inconvenienced. So if you want a big pool that’s the place to go. But don’t expect much more. Moral of the story....go with your travel agent who suggests certain properties. This was not one of them unfortunately for us.
