Good Value, not a lot of perks

We stayed for 6 days 7 nights on our honeymoon in November 2017. We set up transportation to the resort and back to airport through Majestic Tours. No issues with transportation. It was easy to find and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived at Melia at around 12 noon. Check in was quick and easy, but the staff didn’t seem too enthused to help us. This would continue off and on during our stay. Pros first: *location! Cable beach was gorgeous. *room was well appointed and comfortable. *food was good, but choices were limited (more on food in the cons) *some staff went above and beyond, but you definitely have to tip! Cons: *building, furniture, and pools have a lot of wear and tear. A little shabby and rough around the edges, but it didn’t directly impact our time. Just lower your expectations. *resort was understaffed and you really felt it when it came to service. Some staff made us feel that we were a bother to them. *rooms are not really sound proof. You will hear noise from anyone walking down the halls. My husband said he could hear me drying my hair from the elevator. *The Level. I think it’s a bit ridiculous to have different packages at an all inclusive. That being said, we did try to upgrade for our last night of our honeymoon. We were told that the supervisor of the Level said no upgrades, but we could appeal to her personally. We thought it was a little crazy that we were begging the resort to take our money. *restaurant choices were very limited. The Italian restaurant was closed altogether and not all restaurants were open every day, except for the buffet and Black Agnus (not included in the all-inclusive). It started to feel a lot lol Groundhog’s Day with the food choices. *the WiFi was down periodically throughout our stay. *the tv didn’t work most of the time. Overall, the Melia is good, but not great. We definitely got our money’s worth. Just hope they can fix some of the little things that are dragging this place down.

Worst Resort

We just stayed at the Melia this past weekend for 4 days. The customer service was absolutely terrible. For the amount of money we spent, we were very disappointed in how we were treated. The hostesses at Cilantro were especially rude. We waited nearly 2 hours to be served at the Asian restaurant. We love the Bahamas and will definitely be back but will NOT be staying at the Melia.

Good place, fair price, poor execution

Hotel: Beautiful structure, very clean, good service. Nice enough rooms. Food: Esta Vida was horrible, worst service that I've ever received in a restaurant. We had to leave and go to the buffet because my wife didn't receive her food for 45 minutes after I did. When she did, it was not edible. Nikkei: Excellent Asian food. Top restaurant. In hindsight, I would have only ate here and the buffet. Cilantro: Average hispanic food, terrible service. Couldn't get my water filled up for over half an hour let alone food or alcoholic beverage. Buffet: just short of being outstanding. Enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner there several times. Friendly staff. Pool Bar/O'Grille: Nice outside area to eat and drink. Black Angus/Aqua did not eat at. Beach: Beautiful beach. They had chairs for free and water activities included. Too bad they had outside citizens selling you trinkets all day long. I do not exaggerate when I say they will come up to you multiple times per day. There is no chance of sleeping and if you are awake you will have to turn away someone selling you outside drinks, shirts, bracelets etc every 20 minutes. Beyond annoying. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go back or recommend it to a friend/family. It has all the makings of a great resort, but the execution was so extremely poor. It was very inconsistent. We had some amazing meals and great times but others that were horrible. Something minor seemed to go wrong every day and it put a damper on the trip. Nothing major, but when something disappointing happens everyday, it becomes tough to want to go back to that place. It seemed to depend a lot on the particular service person or chef of the day. I'd go back if they got the people off the beach and improved the dining. I'm not sure how I will know that has happened though, so I will probably never go back.

Not what you expect

Had to change our room 3 times. First room smelled horrible, 2nd room had an ant infestation, ants were even in the bed. 3rd room was better but phone didn't work to call service and elevators were down and we were on the 9th floor. Wifi was down for 2 days, food was the same everyday not many good choices. Entertainment wasn't great, everything shut down at 12am. Don't look for late night parties or bars, place was deserted by 12;30am. When you did find a phone that worked, front desk never answered.
