Not so “ELITE”
My husband and I traveled to the RIU Antalis resort May 30 through June 6. We booked directly through the hotel. We have been to this hotel 4 other times in the last 10 years and have always had an enjoyable experience. However, this time we decided to do the elite club upgrade. We booked a “SEA VEIW” room. Which would lead you to believe that you would be able to see the ocean… Well upon being led to our room we learned much differently. They put us over in the villas, which is directly next to the RIU Palace and the construction going on there. Also, they put us on the first floor absolutely no ocean to be seen. Our room was number eight on the first floor the corner room directly next to the construction picture attached. Remember, I said that we have stayed at this hotel at least four other times. This upgraded room was rather disappointing and largely disgusting. Very dirty and loud. While we were able to move to a different room in the main building the following day, the drama continued. We were given a room that was downgraded in class. Even though we were still able to keep our elite status. When I tell you that we had to go to the customer service desk every day to see how they were going to refund some of our money that’s not an exaggeration. We finally were able to work with the manager See following. INFORMATION HOTEL RIU PALACE ANTILLAS DEAR MR. & MRS. BEHRENS, I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT YOUR BILL HAS BEEN MODIFIED FOLLOWING THE CONSTRUCTION COMPLAINT YOU REPORTED DURING YOUR STAY. KIND PRESENT THIS EMAIL AT THE ELITE DESK, AND THE TEAM WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY HOW THE REFUND PROCESS WORKS. HOPE THIS MESSAGE PROVIDES YOU WITH THE NECESSARY INFORMATION. KIND REGARDS, JACQUELINA KELLY FRONT OFFICE MANAGER We were informed that money would return to our credit card 10 to 15 business days. Well, those 15 business days have come and gone and no amount of emails in regards to this matter have been received or answered. At this point, we are putting a block on our credit card And we are rather disheartened because again we love the resort. We had planned to return in October of this year however, now we are thinking otherwise. Hoping some form of management sees this review and can contact us because we have had no luck trying to contact them. If and when this is resolved, I have no problem updating my review button until then this is my battle cry.

Great trip
Aruba is awesome. We will return in the near future. Riu is good too. The food/hotel were great, lobsters/steaks/seafood were fresh. The beach and pools are beautiful. The cleaning staff was honest. I forgot to close the safe. She told us she put a do-not-disturb sign so no one would go in. Nothing was missing.

Very good but far from perfect
This is the third time we have been to Riu Palace Antillas and here is my honest review. The staff are some of the most welcoming, helpful and attentive people that I've ever met. Any time there was an issue, they were immediately there to help. This hotel is all inclusive and all of the food and drinks are included with your stay. The food is good but gets repetitive if you are staying for longer than a couple days. There are several restaurants but the menu doesn't have that much variety so it will feel like a bit of the same after awhile. You can get drinks at the hotel bar, poolside bar, outside bar or you can get beer/wine at all the restaurants. At the full service hotel bar, poolside or outside, you can get anything you'd like and it's well worth the all-inclusive package. The rooms are clean and spacious. But the beds are absolutely terrible and too firm. Additionally, they only give you sheets to cover yourself which I have found to be a bit too little if you like the air conditioner cranked down. On the flip side of things, the balconies can house two people and you get a nice view of Palm Beach. My one major complaint was we kept having issues accessing our room. The key card readers kept having issues with the battery and we were unable to access our room on multiple occasions. This required us to keep going up and down which was a royal pain. Overall, it is a nice hotel that is adults only and worth it for the all-inclusive alone. Aruba is one of the safest Islands in the Caribbean and well worth visiting.

We'll Be Back
We loved our stay at the Riu Palace Antillas. The staff was wonderful, welcoming and friendly. Our only recommendation is to change the location of the steakhouse to accommodate more people. It was a frustration that it took us 3 days to finally get in on the first seating. We are older and eat earlier. If you're not in line by 5:15, you're not getting in at 6. Standing in line in the heat for 45 minutes was hard for us, due to health issues.
