Excellent vacation
This place has something for everyone. Staff responsive and friendly. Beach is beautiful.
Been going here for years with friends and family and i love this place. The people bend over backwards to help and be friendly. They remember you from previous visits and treat you accordingly.
This was one of my first “girl time” vacations in a long time and it was one of the most easy flowing times. The resort property is beautiful. The beachside room was really very beachside and beautiful. Everything is really close by, including bathrooms, water and ice. The room was spacious and the bed super comfy. The patio was also nice to have. The bars and the food were great. The Red Parrot restaurant was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Disappointed by Almost Every Aspect
The room showed its age, makeup mirror hanging on one nail. And noisy air condition system that could not be adjusted. The room was kept at a cozy 64 degrees Fahrenheit . Visitors get an arm band that they must use for their entire stay - it doesn’t come off and if you cut it off they will charge you 175 USD a day. You must make reservations at all restaurants, if you don’t you can eat luke warm food at the buffet. Divi had only 2 restaurants, but their sister resort had 3. We ate at 4 and only one didn’t disappoint. Slow service that was not very friendly and at best average food. We sat at the „fine dining“ restaurant, the Red Parret, for 20 minutes without water or bread. At night, the entertainment was either reject wedding bands or high school talent shows (this is not a joke, performers averaged about 15 years old). Not to mention, the „stage“ areas have no seating, so you will find yourself balancing on the ledge surrounding the buffet. The quality of drinks is, well, varied. It ranged from delicious to straight rum. The last word I would ever use to describe this resort is luxury. If you have ever stayed at a Secrets resort, prepared to be disappointed. The only 10/10 I can manage to give the resort is for the beach, it was absolutely gorgeous. Don’t expect beachside service though and if you want a ocean front cabana, set your alarm for 6 am to claim a seat with a towel. Speaking of towels, you get one beach/pool towel a day, so hold on to that for dear life, I don’t know what happens if you loose it, but I would guess you are charged some kind of fee. The average age at the resort is about 70, so be prepared to relive the glory days. I think I heard a total of 3 songs from 2000 or earlier, but if I hear „Don’t Stop Beliving“ one more time, I’ll lose it. My daughter tried to have some fun and join one of the line dances only to find resort staff recording her, without consent or warning, to be put in one of the resorts commercials. To round it up, this was our first and last stay at Divi and I would NOT recommend it.

My husband and i are planning a vacation to somewhere in the Caribbean in August 2012 to renew our vows with friends & family. Divi all inclusive and Tamarjin , which are side by side and share everything, offer kids 15 and younger free room, food ,etc. They are in Aruba. Just returned from the Divi for second time and love it. Nice beaches and very relaxing. Hope this helps.

What is important when looking for an inexpensive vacation is taking into account your departure city. Airfare is going to have a big impact on your vacation package. A good way to get started is using the Quick Search box on our home page. You can select your departure city and the site will show you all of the deals we are running with pricing adjusted for your departure city. Be sure to check out the Dominican Republic - they have a lot of budget friendly packages.

Divi Aruba All-inclusive, great place. We saw atleast one wedding on the beach that looked great.
RonN2011
I think the Divi in Aruba would be great. Kids under 17 eat free. The beach is great. There are 3 different pools and the dining options for evening meals are really good. You need to make reservations for the evening meals at the con desk. No problem getting chairs, floats, and there are superivsed activities sometimes for kids. This is a great option.
lama47
Would highly recommend the Divi All Inclusive in Aruba. Summer rates are much more attractive than winter - and the weather is wonderful no matter when you go. Beautiful beach, good restaurants to choose from, good service.
gldnpear
divi AI and the sister property the Tam are good choices...I think kids under 12 are free
larryco88
My husband and I have been to many Caribbean destinations and would have to recommend the Dominican Republic for being very budget and family friendly. We stayed at the Barcelo which was not luxurious, but nice enough for the price ($2000 for the week including airfare). They had an entire kids area. If price is not a concern, then I would highly recommend the Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos.

div divi all inclusive is very family friendly. everything is right there for everybody. service is great, the location is wonderful.

Based on your travel dates...you've probably already planned your trip...if not, check out my review of the Divi Aruba on the Cheap Carribean website...great place for your party...great for kids, great value for your dollar..suggestion..never let your guard down about safety for your belongings and the children..

We stayed at the Divi All-Inclusive. Our children are 16 & 13. They loved it. I also thought it was a good deal since we were able to use the facilities at the sister hotel

If you eat at the buffet there are many options. Didn't see any gluten free breads or pastas, but they had many rice and potato dishes. Lots of fruit, salads, fish, eggs, meat dishes. Just don't think they cater to gluten issues. Had dinner one night with another couple who had gluten issues and they were happy. Hope this helps.

Yes just ask for it. We were with a person that was gluten free. At the Palm grille the chef even came out when we mentioned the allergy

what does all inclusive consist of5 answers
when the package is all inclusive does the price include flight, resort stay, cover food cost, and entertainment, like snorkeling and such. just would like a break down of what the price covers and what would require an extra charge.?
6 years, 83 months ago

The resort's all inclusive plan features room accommodations, unlimited food and snacks at 9 dining options; 4 at Divi Aruba and 5 at Tamarijn Aruba, unlimited drink at 7 bars; 3 at Divi Aruba and 4 at Tamarijn Aruba, nightly entertainment, the Funbook! with coupons to the Alhambra Casino, iluminated tennis courts (located at the Tamarijn Aruba), taxes and gratuities. Airfare would be a separate charge, however, all pricing for both the airfare and resort is based on availability and subject to change. For pricing inquiries, we do suggest contacting one of our experienced Beach Experts at #(800) 915-2322 for further assistance. Our office is open daily from 5am - 3am EST and there is no additional charge for agent assistance via telephone.

Flight, food, bands/dj's as part of night life.
Snorkeling, jet ski's extra
They have horseshoes, shuffleboard, ping pong...
JerseyMom
The all inclusive package we got that was through Cheap Carribean at the Divi in Aruba included airfare, hotel, all food and drinks from the Divi or Tam right next door, entertainment at both hotels, transportation back and forth from the Divi to the Tam if you don't want to walk, two fresh beach towels per day, floats and noodles. You would have to pay for excursions, like a snorkel trip on a catamaran, or jeep safari tour on your own and any entertainment outside the two hotels.
Vaca27
The all inclusive at the Divi includes all drinks and food on the property. You have to make reservations at the restaurants (which means you have to get in line at 8am to book 2 nights ahead) and they fill up fast. Otherwise you can always eat at the buffets during operating hours. Some of the snack shacks/bars have food also - the pizza at the shack right at the entrance was pretty good. Also some water sports are included in your package like kayaks, sunfish, snorkel equipment. Other water sports are available for a fee.
Your flight may be included with your CheapCaribbean package but it's not part of the all inclusive resort.
MajorTom
It did include airfare, hotel transfers, resort stay, food and all drinks, including some top shelf booze, they have snorkel masks you can use for free, but take an excursion on a catamaran out to where there is better snorkeling, that costs about $85 for three snorkel stops, lunch and beer and mixed drinks included. Depalma Tours is the snorkel trip we took.
There were no extra charges except hotel room safe at $2 a night.
My hotel bill at check out was $18

We are trying to decide on a resort for our Aruba vacation. Our number one priority is great snorkeling, lots of sea life. Is Divi a good choice or is there a better option? We are also planning an October trip, is that a good time?
6 years, 82 months ago
swin92
This resort does offer snorkeling on the property. For more information please contact the resort directly.
CaitlinCC
If you are hoping to snorkel off the shore at the hotel, the Divi is not a good choice. I would look for a hotel as far north on the west side of the island as you can to find good snorkeling off the beach.
MajorTom
Just returned....October is beautiful and not crowded. No good snorkeling on site but plenty of snorkeling excursions near by.
JanBud
In all honesty I couldn't tell you if they did or didn't, I personally booked my excursions online and seen what they offered. I know they had scuba diving. October would be good, September is their hottest month..its constantly breezy but u still feel the heat.
SalsaB
Aruba itself had great snorkeling! it was a bus ride from Divi to the snorkeling location and they did make a few stops to pick up guests from other hotels but it wasn't too bad and the cost for the excersion was very reasonable.

Is there a dress code for any of the restaurants?7 answers
More specifically are collard shirts required? And what type of shoes do my children need to bring? Thank you.
6 years, 77 months ago
NJ
To our knowledge, collared shirts are not required at any of the restaurants. Sandals and/or sneakers would be appropriate for your children.
CoryCC
The dress code is beach casual, you don't need a collard shirt. Flip flops and/or sandals for all of you.
Teelaz
The only rule was not bathing suits in the restaurants. So as long as you have a shirt and flip flops on, you are good to go!
HMC1014
Very casual. Kids can wear flip-flops and so can the adults.
scally
This resort is very casual......no need to dress up for dinner....flip flops and shorts worn in the evening as well as all day. Resort ala carte restaurants are also casual.....some dress up and most wear shorts, flip flops, and sundresses. Breakfast and lunch is all swimsuits with cover-ups. Very casual and beachy.
JanBud
No real dress code, everything is very casual. Short sleeved shirts and shorts with sandals is what you see most of - doesn't need to be collared.
Flip flops for the kids would be just fine and maybe a pair of sneakers if you go offsite anywhere for an excursion.
Ariba4
Collared shirts were supposed to be worn, but I saw a lot of people without them.
flip flops and sneakers will do for any activity here including dinner

Divi is much cleaner and overall nicer appearance than the Tam. The Tam has more sidewalk stores. The quality at the Divi is better. The Divi did not have any beverages in the mini fridge.
Arubabride14
Divi has big beach right at hotel, tamarin has no beach access right at hotel, you must walk 200 yards to the right to get to beach.
There are no beverages in fridge, walk to any bar or buffet restaurant to get any drink
GerryM
The Tamarjin resort looks a little dated and the beach area has a lot of rocks, although there is plenty of white sandy beach if you walk north. The Divi All-inclusive has the better beach, which the Tamarjin people get to use and vice-versa "It is basically one resort". If it were me, I would stay at the Divi All-inclusive.

The information on how to find your transportation is in your documents. The resort is AI so you should not need exchange your money. However if you are looking to explore the island it can be a good idea.
CCCasey
They have a cheapcaribbean booth and they will already have your information there. There are plenty of people to ask at the airport for directions. It's much easier to have it booked otherwise you will be bombarded by everyone looking to transport you.
KatieG3
The airport staff will show you where you transportation station is, but just in case, you will be transported by Amstel, and they wear blue Hawaiian shirts. They are also holding "CheapCaribbean" signs so they are easily identified. Dollars are fine. No need for pesos.

Just US dollars. They are taken EVERYWHERE
MJK74
Just print and bring the email confirmation and ask one of the attendants to direct you where. There are lots of people there to help you! US $ works just fine. They do have ATMs and you can use credit cards too.

Transportation is right outsidebaggage claim. Print out your reservation/ confimation and bring with you. We had no issue using US currency and credit card.
GoGators
Everyone there takes US Dollars. Just bring lots of $1s for tipping. It is $25 from the airport, so make sure you have enough for that!

I'm woundering why do you have this hotel is a 4 star hotel , it's clearly 21/2 star ... I wouldnt have never booked this hotel if you it was a 2-3 star hotel. We are here now and I wanna leave sooooo bad, it's disgusting here.

I just reviewed our trip taken one week ago. I gave it 4 palm trees, not 4 stars. I would say it's a 3 star property. It's not the best place I have stayed but I thought it was a great value for the price. Clean, PERFECT BEACH and good food. They even change the lunch buffet every day which isn't typical at other AI's. And the live music at night was average to fantastic.

Didnt find anything wrong w this hotel. Its not a 5 star but i would say its a 4.

does any restaurant serve seafood5 answers

These restaurants should have seafood:
Pelican Terrace
Type: Themed buffet
Hours: Breakfast- daily, 7am-11am; Lunch- daily, noon-3pm; Dinner- daily, 6pm-9:30pm.
Description: Buffet restaurant featuring international-themed dinners, as well as locally inspired cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; guests can enjoy indoor, air-conditioned seating or seating on the patio overlooking the beach.
Red Parrot
Type: International
Hours: Daily, 6pm-9:30pm.
Description: The signature Red Parrot features fine cuisine and attentive service for dinner only in either an indoor, air-conditioned setting or on the beach-side outdoo
bthornton
The buffet has seafood options. All the restaurants that we went to, pretty much had seafood as part of their menu. We went to Red Parrot which offers fine cuisine and we had escargot, salmon. Even better, we had somebody in our party that can only eat glutein-free and they accommodated his diet. The food is great!
Richelle
Yes! The habichi restaurant has salmon and shrimp you can grill. The Red Parrot also has some great seafood dishes! The buffet does have fish sometimes and mostly sushi every day!
TorresTimesTwo
The Red Parrot restaurant did have seafood items on the menu.

Is it ok to drink the tap water? And are there coffee makers in the rooms?5 answers

Tom
We recommend to Drink the bottled water but the Tap water is filtered
bthornton
Yes you can drink the tap water and no coffee maker..
SalsaB
The water is Aruba is completely safe and, actually, of a higher quality than in the United States, so you do not have to worry about the water at all. There are no coffee makers in the room, however there are coffee machines spread out throughout the resort that they are close by.
Brad3112
Tap water is totally safe to drink, good tasting as well. Aruba is somewhat famous for that. No coffee maker in the rooms but there is an unmanned coffee and espresso station between the lobby and the spa.
BucketVacationer
the tap water is awesome. there are no coffee makers in the rooms, but a station is in the lobby

does Divi have a dive shop on grounds, or do I have to go to town to book dives?2 answers
3 years, 43 months ago
suba mom
There is a watersports center on site to offer nonmotorized activities. For a scuba diving excursion there are dive shops located nearby where these can be set up.
CCGreg
Nope! Surprisingly, it's hard to get this booked. We had the reservations call around to get something going but it felt like we were putting them off because they didn't have enough people to go. In town, by the cruise ships, we sort of ran into a dive boat that just returned. They took care of us right then and there! I recommend them! Mermaid Sport Divers 587-4103 or 593-3920
They even brought us to "local" restaurants and gave great tips during our stay.
Dives were good, did 2 ship dives and a plane and tug boat one too. We've been to Cozumel diving, so Aruba was not that exciting, but we still got wet!! Enjoy!

I'm planning a spring break trip for 2017 and have twin 14 year olds. Are there age appropriate activities for kids that age?
3 years, 39 months ago
Washington, DC
While the kids' club is only for children up to age 12, the resort does offer other activities such as bike riding, beach activities, rock-climbing wall, and tennis courts.
JeannieCC
You can take excursions to de palm beach. They also have random activities by the pool for kids like Zumba and dance classes. There are a lot of kids that go to this resort. We met a couple with a 14 year old girl and the kids had a great time.

There is a special stating Kids Stay and Eat free (2 under 12 with 2 adults) but when you run through registration it seems to charge for 4 people?
3 years, 38 months ago

Our website is set up to take the total reservation cost and average between the number of passengers on the reservation, regardless of who is actually being charged what. For further specifics on this, please call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our beach experts.
JeannieCC
Do you mean the "tax" or "surcharge" for 4?
Clearly they have to put 4 on the registration for liability and a census count. I'm not clear on the "charge" you speak of and hope you got this clarified.

Bar is nearby, so a short walk to get drink or snacks
Tjtomkolaw
No wait service at the beach at the Divi. However, the bars are literally steps away. Around main pool at the Divi there is a wait service for drinks. Getting up to get drinks is the most "exercise" some people got on vacation.
ArubaCJ
It’s just walk up bars. Their service is pretty quick.
Somma
There is not wait service on the beach, however, there were three different bars right on the beach that had good food and drinks. Also, unlike the high rise hotels, the Divi is actually right on the beach.

In your details you list amenities for all rooms, except the ocean view, with mini fridges. Does this mean that it's not a mini bar and therefore alcohol not included in these rooms?
2 years, 35 months ago

The Ocean View room lists a mini-bar in the description, so it does have one and alcohol included.
JeannieCC
There is not a stocked bar in the room but the resort is all inclusive so just hit the bar as much as you want!
Lbarbour
No alcohol was in the room. No "mini bar." There is no shortage of Alcohol and most rooms are only steps away for a bar. Bars open at 11AM and close at 11PM. We experienced people ordering shots of tequila at 11AM. breakfast?
ArubaCJ
There was no alcohol in the rooms’s mini-fridge. But there were multiple bars close to our beach front room.
OkieNana
There are not mini bars in the rooms, but it's all inclusive, so you can order whatever you want from the handful of resort bars at any time.

Which is the better hotel to stay, Tamarijn or Divi? I am very confused.5 answers
2 years, 35 months ago
New York
If you stay at one you get access to both. I believe Divi is probably a little more laid back, with the casino being over on the Tamarijn side- making it more lively.
CCGreg
they have a different feel. Tamarijn is more or a Modern/European feel to it and the watersport activates are there. They are next to each other so you can enjoy both.
Breezer
They are both very nice but the Divi has a better beach area. You can use both of the resorts amenities while you are there.
Chatzi
We have stayed at the Divi both times and visited the Tamarajin twice. To me the Tamarajin was a slower pace and seemed less crowded. There is only one pool at that Tamarajin and three at the Divi. We liked being able to move around if one pool got too rowdy or crowded with kids.
Some people prefer the beach at the Tamaajin because they say it is larger. I didn't see much difference.
ArubaCJ
I think Divi all inclusive is better only because you have access to Tamarjan and all of their restaurants too. Where guests staying at Tamarjan can visit Divi but they do not get to dine at their restaurants. They are right next to each other with shuttles going regularly to take you between the two resorts. And if Divi beach is crowded you can either walk or shuttle to Tamarjan where their beach is a little wider and longer. Truly though I don’t think you can go wrong with either resort. They are both amazing.

We are in the process of picking a location for our destination wedding! Many of our family members are nervous about travelling to a foreign country with their children due to concerns about safety. How is this resort with security?
2 years, 28 months ago
Ks
Aruba tends to be one of the safest destinations we offer here at CheapCaribbean. Also, the resorts tend to do their best with keeping the property safe, such as not allowing non-guests on the property unless they've purchased a day pass, etc.
JeannieCC
It is extremely safe there inside resort and outside! My mom and I were able to see 2 weddings at our resortt there were a lot of kids there and it was just beautiful!! We were told that the crime percent in Aruba was less than 1% so after begin there i believe it. You have nothing to woryy about.
RoxyFab50
I've been to Jamaica and the Bahamas, which aren't the best outside of the resorts, and was surprised at how safe it is. You can easily walk 25 mins downtown without any issues. People from the other resorts that are part of the Divi (Tamarijn, Divi Golf, Pheonix and Dutch Village) do have access to the amenities at all hotels, so people are in and out. Hope this helps :) We just stayed there and absolutely loved it.
Amanda513
I felt totally safe on the resort and off of the resort we took excursions and we even went to some local casinos never had any issues the people in the place is fantastic
Newbiefrompcola
I can tell you one thing at the Divi resorts you are very safe. They come around every evening to check to make sure your doors are locked. I was not feeling to well one evening (due to my own fault) and my husband had left the sliding door unlocked and someone came and told me to secure the door. A very safe place.
