2.5/5
Average Resort. PROS: 1. beautiful resort with nice buildings that were very clean and maintained. 2. Rooms were great (spacious, clean, nice architecture.) 3. the food was amazing. the buffet had many options and was massive. the lunch restaurant had amazing seafood and portions, and the burrito bar was also a very nice lunch option. breakfast stayed open until late (I often miss breakfast at other resorts as I wake up late and would have to wait until lunch is open) 4. WIFI on the WHOLE resort. very rare and big plus! 5. Easy to navigate around (I usually get lost at these things but this was a good size and layout) 6. fun activities during the day at the pool + great live music/shows at night along with a very friendly staff. CONS: 1.BEACH SUCKS.. absolutely sucks.. it is about 5 feet of actual sand, and then sandbags. the water is so so so rocky with so much seaweed that you cant even see the rocks and will stub your toes on them frequently. not to mention the fact that every 5 minutes workers on the beach harass you to buy things (massages, coco bongo tickets, souvenirs etc) 2. massive lack of beach chairs.. always so hard to find chairs and often people would share, steal or put a towel on a chair at 7am to reserve it. 3. they are grossly understaffed as there were always HUGE lineups for drinks, the ONLY beach bar had only one bartender and constantly had huge lineups for drinks (often waiting 15+ minutes). additionally there were lineups and long waits for all restaurants including lunch ones. Im used to circular shaped bars with multiple bartenders instead of a linup for barstand.. 4.nightlife is AWFUL, only resort ive been too where the disco tech closes at 1 instead of 2 or 3. usually there is a 24 hour sports bar, instead here there was a bbq stand open from 3-7am where you had to get a burger if you wanted a drink. sports bar also closed at 1. we ordered room service beers EVERY night and played cards/ listened to music in our rooms at night... costing more money and disturbing neighbours but what do they expect? a bunch of drunk 20 year olds who are not ready to go to bed at 1am and have nothing to do... 5. TOO MANY RULES... after 1 am, you had to get food to get a drink.. it was their way of i guess closing off the nightlife off and telling people to go to bed. I was SHOCKED when i said can i have a beer and they said u need a burger.. and then i asked for another beer and they said only if you get another burger. it was INSANE.. who knows how much we spent on roomservice beers, absolute scam. 6. designated smoking areas. I barely smoke at home but on vacation I want to smoke on the beach, in the lobbies, on my balcony. NOPE not allowed here, only 3 designated smoking areas in the whole resort.. what a joke. I understand it in a family or kids area but we were in an adult area being told we could not smoke. 7. lastly, it should be called a MOSTLY inclusive as we still had to pay to use the arcade, or for anything other than house wine, + an initial room fee that we did not know about etc. i guess nowadays all of these AI have become like this. ALL in ALL this is probably a good resort to go to with a family or with kids. a 5 star is a 5 star at the end of the day so even with all the CONS it was still a pretty good resort however I for one will never be going back as it ranks probably in the bottom 3 of the 15-20 different resorts Ive been to in my life. OVERALL 2.5/5

Beautiful resort, but terrible customer service
We had a lot of issues with nearly every customer service checkpoint that it soured our experience and I do not recommend staying here or at any H10 hotel. The amenities and activities are very good, but there are so many other similar resorts where you won’t have to deal with these issues that you might as well book elsewhere. This is the third time I’ve stayed at an all inclusive and I’ve never had this many problems. SUMMARY On the plus side, this place is beautiful and has lots of fun things to do (beach, pool activities, tennis, bowling, etc.) On the other hand, we spent hours emailing and calling customer service before and after our trip due to checked bag issues with our flight reservation. Upon arrival, we spent hours of our vacation on our first night dealing with a broken lock on our front door. I go on vacation to get a break from work, not create more admin for myself. I was shocked at how many problems we faced and how difficult the hotel made it to solve them. I do not recommend staying here or at any H10 hotel. I’ll start with the negatives and end with the positives. BOOKING: 1/5 We booked flights and stay directly through the hotel which included an airport transfer. I paid 166 CAD to add a checked bag to my reservation in both directions. A few days before my flight, I checked my trip on the WestJet website to ensure we were good to go. There was no checked bag, so I emailed the hotel to inquire. They assured me my reservation had a bag included. A few hours before my flight, I go to check in and there is no bag. I called Westjet customer service and they told me there is indeed no bag and since it was booked third party, I need to contact the hotel. There’s a useless toll free number where the agents can’t do anything. Luckily, we had some friends already at the resort, so we asked them to ask the front desk for us. Our friends spent an hour with guest services trying to resolve the issue but ultimately they couldn’t do anything and told us to call an American customer service number. We had no choice but to pay long distance charges out of pocket (we’re in Canada) to resolve this. This agent was helpful and told us to pay out of pocket for the bag and he’ll submit a refund request. He told us we would get an email confirmation but we got nothing, so I emailed H10 booking. I got back from this trip last night and at this point, I have been emailing them back and forth for a week to coordinate this refund. Also, they have refused to refund the $166 we paid for bags, only the $137 we ended up paying WestJet. They charged us $166 for a service they did not provide and won’t refund it fully. Even if all went smoothly, it’s ridiculous they are charging me more for bags than it actually costs. Other minor thing: my wife and I booked and paid together, but for some reason our flight reservations were separate, so we did not automatically get seats together, unlike our friends who booked through Expedia. Not the end of the world, but annoying considering everything else. Oddly, our friends that booked through Expedia got free perks, better rooms and no flight issues. This is very strange as booking direct has been better everywhere else I’ve stayed. CUSTOMER SERVICE 1/5 We checked in at around 8:00pm and went to our room. At 9:00pm or so, we went back to our room and our room keys (it’s a bracelet you tap on the lock) didn’t work anymore. We go back to the front desk to inquire and they told us to go back to the room; someone from security will meet us there and fix it. We go back, wait about 10 min and someone comes to fix it. Lock works again. No big deal; we understand things break sometimes. We go back to our room at around 11:00pm to go to bed. The lock has stopped working again. We walk back to the lobby. They tell us the same thing again: go back to the room, security will come again. We go back and sit outside our room for 40 minutes, but no one comes. At this point, we don’t trust this hotel so I go back to the front desk and my wife waits at the door in case someone comes. I asked for a new room since we dont trust this lock anymore. They say they are 100% booked and can’t move us. I don’t believe this as there are several poolside rooms with the blinds open with untouched beds that are clearly ready for guests. I accept this, but emphasize that they need to send someone immediately as we’ve been waiting so long. They assure me someone will come within 10 min. I stay in the lobby until my wife calls and tells me someone is there. They fix the lock and it works again. Now it’s about midnight and my wife calls the front desk to inquire again about moving rooms because at this point, we do not trust that this lock will work. They refuse again to move us and abruptly end the call saying “we have a check in, we have to go”. Now my wife goes to the front desk again. They won’t do anything for us. She filed a formal complaint on a form at guest services and then we put it behind us for the trip. Since I don’t want this to get anyone in trouble that doesn’t deserve it: Manuel at the front desk was courteous and was the one that ultimately got the security to come the third time I went to the front desk. The next day, we woke up to a slip of paper on our door that said we could go to Guest Services to discuss some free perks with them. We thought maybe we were offered something for our troubles. Nope. This was a high pressure sales meeting with “free” massages and tequila to sign up for bigger packages or sell timeshares. If you are told to talk to guest services when you check in or get this slip on your door, DON’T GO. AIRPORT TRANSFER 2/5 Our booking included airport transport via Trafictours. The way in went smoothly. On the way out, our friends were on an earlier flight than us. Their pickup was supposed to be at 8am for 2pm flight which is very early. They requested a 9am pick up instead, which Trafictours accepted and confirmed via email. They show up at 9am and are told they missed their 8am shuttle. Apparently the company never changed it, despite the email confirmation. The front desk’s solution to this is that they get a taxi and pay out of pocket. That’s ridiculous when airport transfer is supposed to be included in the price they paid. They argue for a while and Trafictours eventually agrees to send someone at no extra cost. I had two separate emails from Trafictours with different pick up times (12pm and 12:15pm). I asked the Trafictours desk for clarification and they told me it’s 12:15pm, but they “don’t trust it” so be there at 11:55am just in case. It arrived at 12:15pm as scheduled, but they are very disorganized. ROOM 3/5 Our room was fine. A bit dingy, but they were renovating other rooms on our floor, so I expect our room was next on the renovation list and due for an update. Otherwise, everything worked - no complaints. FOOD 3/5 We really enjoyed the buffet. There isn’t huge variety, but what they have is good, especially the taco station. The à la carte restaurants were hit and miss. Some dishes were very good, while others were terrible (especially some of the desserts). I recommend going to the à la carte restaurants for dinner and then going to the buffet for dessert. ACTIVITIES / AMENITIES 5/5 Despite our issues, I can’t complain about the amenities. The property is beautiful and the pools are great with fun activities. We didn’t have a lot of problems finding pool chairs either. We also took advantage of the bowling alley and the tennis courts. Our friends who used the gym were happy with it. BEACH 5/5 The beach is really beautiful. Parts of it have a lot of seaweed, but others are very clear. If you like the snorkel, I found lots of fish and even a ray when I went out in the morning. Highly recommend! If the afternoon, it tends to get choppy and the sand gets kicked up making it too cloudy to see much.

Without Carlos, ORP will never be the same
I’m giving this resort a 5 star review because at the time I stayed there with my family CARLOS from AMARANTO looked after my child ‘s allergies like he was his own child. Unfortunately, we learned that he was recently let go. Without Carlos, this experience would have been greatly reduced. Not because the resort is bad - but because it is so hard to have an emotional connection with anyone in 1 week, and this man’s care for my child put me in tears.
