Do your research before booking this place. It is not a 4*
The reviews I read prior to booking this were great. BUT this is far from a 4*. Do your research carefully! The rooms are incredibly outdated. The pools are freezing no one even uses them. Racoons everywhere I kid you not. So outdated and densely populated. Our record for coffee at mikes was 33 minutes. Usually 45 minutes for a coffee!!!! THE ONLY Positive I can give is the staff are adorable and kind. I would not return or let friends or family book here!

Over all my experience was positive but personally I wouldn’t come back unless I was travelling with my family.
We are currently at the ocean riviera paradise -el beso and I’m little disappointed. This is our 7th time at an ocean resort and don’t usually have any complaints but I’m a little disappointed with this one. First of all if you’re looking for an adults only resort this isn’t it. We’ve been to the ocean el faro-el beso in Punta Cana and the resort was separated by family and adults . We we booked this resort we thought this would be the same but unfortunately it’s not . We usually have a wonderful experience but this time we were not impressed with the service .We found the Mexican restaurant and the lobby bar service was unacceptable . If you are coming with kids it’s a wonderful place but if you’re looking for a nice quiet place this isn’t the place to be.

Brutally Honest Review
I stayed at Ocean Riviera Paradise in Playa del Carmen and wanted to give a straight, honest rundown. Size of the resort The place is huge, but I see that as a positive. A lot of reviews complain about the size, but I never needed a buggy once. Unless you have mobility issues, it’s fine and makes the resort feel open. Beach and beach pool The beach is narrow but looks great. No sargassum at all during my stay, though it’s January so that’s expected. The beach pool also looks really nice and has a relaxed vibe. The downside is the lack of shaded loungers. Only a few have umbrellas or canopies. The rest are packed close together which makes it feel cramped. There’s no music at this pool. The main family pool has music and loads of loungers, but being surrounded by buildings isn’t really my scene. Service Front desk staff at check-in were rude and had a strange arrogant attitude. Everyone else around the resort has been friendly, so this stood out. They weren’t helpful when I asked for things. Room issues Rooms are big and nicely decorated. You can tell they’ve been updated in the last few years, although the bathrooms could use a bit more care. Two things really annoyed me. There’s no kettle in the room which I needed for sterilising bottles. They said they only have around twenty for the entire resort and none were available. This is basic stuff that even small hotels usually provide. The crib they gave us had no mattress. They folded sheets to create one which was pointless. No child would sleep on that. We didn’t use it and had our son sleep with us. Without these two issues the resort probably would have been a 4. If you need to sterilise bottles, don’t use tap water unless it’s boiled. The filtered water machine in the Daisy block (building 2) worked fine for the bucket plus Milton tablet method. Illness My son caught hand, foot and mouth during the stay which he likely picked up from the pool. The resort obviously can’t control this, but with how many kids are here it’s something to keep in mind because illnesses spread easily in busy family resorts. Food Food across the buffet and the a la carte restaurants is average. The steakhouse was bad. I didn’t try the Japanese because you have to queue for about thirty minutes just to reserve and you might still end up with a 10pm slot. The other restaurants can be booked at 8.30am on the app and a few are walk-in. Pools All the pools were freezing. None are heated which isn’t ideal in winter. Timeshare pressure A lot of reviewers talk about getting trapped in timeshare style sales pitches. I avoided this by not accepting anything free. If anyone calls your room or approaches you in the lobby offering something free, just decline. It saves you the hassle. Transport InDrive is much cheaper than letting the hotel call you a taxi. The hotel tried to put me off by mentioning safety. Do your own research and decide what you’re comfortable with. Final thoughts The resort has some lovely areas and the grounds look good, but a few basic issues drag it down. With warmer pools and better attention to simple things, it could score much higher.

Beautiful place,… foot and mouth disease
I am scared to report my 11 month old daughter caught hand and foot and mouth disease while our stay at this resort, I was scared to tell anyone that my daughter caught this at this resort. I was in the buffet and a lady walked up to me and said be careful. There’s lots of kids here with foot and mouth Yes, it is a very common disease in children, but there needs to be action taken to fully sanitize this hotel. At least the kids section. They need to shut it down for a full two weeks and clean the resort I believe fully sanitize it with bleach and take all precautions to kill the virus anywhere that the children were because it is highly contagious if a newborn baby caught this they could get very ill, possibly life-threatening even if certain kids didn’t catch it there they brought it there now and measures have to be taken to disinfect and kill the virus or else. It is going to keep spreading sadly they probably are fully booked as I just left. There was every room full. sadly, they’re gonna have to reimburse people their money and close it down for about two weeks and give him a deal to come back or something like that or people just have to understand that they’re doing it for people‘s health and just reimburse them with no deal just a welcoming hand back to come back to the resort when this issue was dealt with my beautiful baby girl was screaming in pain. She has marks all on her face on her hands on her bottom in her mouth. She has such a fever. It’s so hard to see my daughter in such pain. This is no one‘s fault. This is not the hotel’s fault at all, but something has to be done, to kill this virus or else it’s just gonna be spreading to every child to everyone and keep going back to where their home towns are all over the world. Please have the consideration for your guest and take care of this or else many more are going to suffer thank you It is a beautiful place a beautiful hotel. The people are very nice. The food was good. All the staff tried so hard to make everyone happy The Italian restaurant was delicious . There were so many activities so much fun stuff beautiful monkeys, beautiful people. It was amazing until my child was so sick. I like this resort, but this issue needs to be addressed. Thank you for our stay please do the right thing and shut down all the kids zones and totally sanitize the area. Thank you very much.
