Food was terrible, hospitality was poor, and the whole environment felt neglected and low quality. The only good thing about this resort was the acrobatic dance show. Definitely not worth the price. don’t waste your time or money here, by far the worst resort ever. we booked the adult only swim up pool where we had access to exclusive lounge which online boasted premium liquors but half the time the space was empty with no services when it advertised hours as open 7 (maybe it’s 9am never checked) until 11pm. resort awarded diamond AAA but i doubt those awards are recent.

Terrible Experience
Dreams Tulum is very overpriced for that it is. The food is very low quality (often frozen and dry), the beach was full of seaweed and not maintained or raked, they do NOT maintain their buildings and almost everyone in our group had issues with their rooms. Our AC was broken for multiple days and the temperature wouldn't go below 29 degrees. The technician came a few times but kept marking it as "problem solved" but it was not. Our toilet was also running non-stop and would often not flush properly. Our friend had a room that flooded every time the shower ran and my dad’s room had chunks of the ceiling falling down. They had to move him on day 2. There were also electrical issues throughout the resort, with lights going out and often flickering. Especially at Portofino restaurant. This resort was like a factory for weddings. Up to 5-6 a day! Everything was rushed and overlapping and it was hard to maneuver the resort without getting tangled in wedding parties. Also, there is zero peace and quiet at this resort. Even the "quiet pool" (where I tried to get some relaxation) was full of party people doing cannon balls, etc. Another main issue we had was that we were constantly asked to move from our beach chair or pool lounge to accommodate wedding set-ups or events. One day, they even closed the pool at 3pm so a wedding could have it. This is unacceptable for people paying to be there and have a vacation. If the pool is closed for a wedding and the beach is being set up for another wedding and our room is 29 degrees because the AC is broken, where are we supposed to go? Another thing I found baffling was the dress codes at the restaurants and how little they were followed. We dressed according to the dress code (nice dresses, long pants, dress shoes, etc.) and in the restaurant, we would see BAREFOOT people, drunk and wandering around, with little clothing and often wet bathing suits. Those people should not be allowed in to the nicer restaurants where people are looking for an elevated dining experience. Overall, both my husband and I were very disappointed with Dreams Tulum. If you read the 1/5 and 2/5 star reviews on trip advisor, you will see that hundreds of other people have commented these exact same things. I feel like Dreams Tulum is having a cost management issue and is trying to cheap-out on a lot of things and the guests are the ones who are getting a lessened experience.

Sep 08, 2025A great recovery effort by 3 outstanding staff members.
As a group of 6, we had some collective complaints about several things, and even requested a resort change due to a feeling of embarrassment with our friends and family. However, Gabi, Natalia and Annette did everything in their power to make us feel more special and comfortable within the means of the resort, so they are all 10/10 key staff. Had it not been for them we would have had a much worse experience.
