We keep going back because of certain staff! They make it amazing!

We recently returned from Dream Tulum. It wasn’t our first time, (we’ve been lots) and we will definitely be going back. Just a little about our perspective…. Are their fancier hotels in the Mayan Riviera area? Yes, there are. After 30 years of travelling to Mexico, we’ve tried many brands. Why do we keep going back? This one makes it something special for us. Now let me share that we are not fancy people and have tried Sandals etc. It’s not our thing. We know it is for many, but we go on holidays to relax, reconnect as a couple and with friends and simply enjoy ourselves. Staff: For us, the reason we continue to go back is that the staff make ALL the difference in the world. When we arrive, we are given refreshing towels to wipe off from the long 2-day trek for us. The minute we hear “Welcome Home” we feel like we are in holiday mode for sure. There are a few people who stand out. Salvador, the Preferred Beach butler is really one of the main reasons we keep going back. We are beach people and he makes our days at the beach incredible. For the first time we did the Blue Hut experience and we are hooked. He made it something that we won’t forget. The beach staff are good, but Salvador is EXCELLENT and when you meet up with him, we’re sure you’ll feel the same as many of us talked about him while having drinks in the Preferred Lounge in the evening. He takes care of everyone and makes your vacation, the beach part anyhow, AMAZING! Alejandra and Manuel in the Preferred Lounge. They are incredible. Every person who goes into the lounge is greeted and asked if they need anything or how their day or tour was. They make sure all the little stuff is taken care of for the Preferred guests and we couldn’t be more appreciative of them. They are the second reason we return! Elizabeth in reservations. We book directly with the resort as that’s always the best rate going. Also allows direct connection to the resort for changes, room requests etc. This reservation found us having to change a couple of times for various reasons. Elizabeth took care of us completely and made sure we had everything we requested. We already have our new dates in to her for our next booking. She makes it easy and that’s how reservations should be. Rooms: We always book a Hacienda Suite so I can’t share about other room categories. When we first went, our friends booked a Preferred Room Swim Out and hated it. It was at the far back corner of the resort and that wasn’t their thing. For those that want quiet etc., it would be good. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Hacienda Suites. They are steps from the beach, in the center of things and the rooms are large, well-cleaned and more traditional, Mexican style. Diana kept our room spotless and well-stocked. Thank you very much! Restaurant: We don’t like to dress up for dinner. (I like a sundress and hubby has Bermuda shorts or light pants but that’s as far as we’ll go for that. We hate making dinner reservations and we like freestyle dining so we can go when we want and not see a zillion empty tables from people who made reservations but then went on a tour and aren’t back.). Portofino/La Cava: Edgar the Sommelier is exceptional. We had great wine and tequila, and he even had a few new ones we hadn’t tried. Made our evening meals pretty exceptional! Thanks Edgar! Portofino Breakfast: We would love this breakfast to be at the Seaside Grill so that we can eat breakfast and enjoy the sunrise on the beach etc. (Listen up World of Hyatt! Everyone’s been asking for this for some time!) The breakfast is good here. Top notch service from Elicio, Margely and Gilda. They made the start of our day really wonderful. And I love a pineapple Mimosa and a latte to start the day. They made sure we had everything we needed to start our day in paradise. Portofino Dinner: Good menu and good food. Always enjoy a meal here. Bordeaux: Great food. Great service. Now, someone tell me please how a couple with a screaming 1 year old was allowed in there when all other people we saw, who asked and had kids, were turned away. Thankfully when the kid couldn’t be calmed down, the parents finally left. I felt bad for the people that were there celebrating some occasions and this child was losing it. If the rule is no kids, then I don’t expect to see screaming kids in there….. Himitsu: Well, who doesn’t love dinner and a show?!? A good night. Great food. (Thanks, Edgar, for doing our wine here too). This is the only place you have to make a reservation. Seaside Grill: It can be hit and miss here. Some meals, excellent; some not as good. A little more consistency leaning to the ‘good’ would be great. We didn’t have a bad meal here. But we did receive cold food from here and we don’t like that. (servers have got to get it out when it’s still hot) El Patio: We stuff ourselves here and love Mexican food. Thanks to the whole team there for the GREAT meals. Chefs: We couldn’t have the incredible experience we have at Dreams Tulum without thanking some of the head chefs that make it one of the reasons we come back! Thank you, Fernando, Baltazar and Efrain for making our vacation and food experiences, exceptional! You guys are the best as are the teams with you! Property: Beach: We love that the beach has a sandy swimming area (still wear water shoes) and a rocky/snorkel area. We love to float around in the swim area and enjoy snorkelling down the preferred beach side. Great marine life including baby turtles to swim with. We enjoy snorkelling a lot. We have seen lots here. Also, if you’re facing the ocean, walk 10 min to the left and go see the cenote coming up out of the ocean. Yes, fresh water. It’s a super fun phenomenon! Spa: My husband and I had massages in the Blue Hut on the beach and Pastora and Nancy were top notch. My favorite is hot rock massage and Pastora had every knot taken care of and I was a relaxed gal when she was done. Excellent. Gym: My husband uses the gym each day and really appreciates Horatio and the services he provides. He does get pulled away sometimes for event help at the resort. On the Monday there were no towels and nothing to wipe down equipment and no water bottles. My husband said that he didn’t work out that day but otherwise, he goes each morning and appreciates the gym and service that Horatio gives. Preferred Lounge: Paola is part of this team here and our first time meeting her as a concierge. She is GREAT and will do what she can to make your requests happen! Okay World of Hyatt, the Preferred Lounge gets busy. Would you kindly get rid of those awful, worn-out couches and put in 4-5 more round tables and chairs?!? We all like to have drinks before and after dinner/evening shows and you should be able to accommodate this better. All the tables and chairs are taken first. The bartenders in the lounge are top notch and make excellent drinks. If they don’t have it on their list and you have a recipe for them in your phone, they’ll make it! Hopefully this gives you an idea of our great experience at Dreams Tulum. You can always ask questions. Happy to help as we know everyone works hard for their money and you want a vacation that will be memorable.

    AC sucks at Dreams Tulum

Had my daughter’s wedding here. Of the 25 rooms, half of them the ac didn’t work. Don’t go here if you like air conditioning.
