Outdated, overpriced, mediocre all-inclusive with decent staff.

There was a definite lack of communication between the different sections of the resort. For example, on day one of arrival, I requested a bottle opener. After asking for one multiple times on multiple occasions, I finally got fed up and went and sourced my own. We had asked for cushions for the metal deck chairs on at least two separate occasions and never received any. We ended up just using whatever cushions we could from inside the room. In our communications when booking about the private romantic dinner on the beach, we were told that the payment would have to be made on arrival, which is what we did. Little did we know that as SunClub guests, we were offered a $60 coupon which could have been used towards the dinner. When we found this out, we were told point blank that no money could be refunded. We were offered a bottle of wine from the wine list. We chose a Riesling to go with our surf and turn. When we went to the dinner, no bottle of wine was offered. As a matter of fact, our server made it clear that the manager of the restaurant would need to talk to the manager of the SunClub to make that happen, but the manager from the SunClub was not available. To further complicate matters, I came down with a case of food poisoning and was bedridden for the last day and a half at the resort. Housekeeping also did not refill our coffee selection on one day, and we had asked for a specific beer to be stocked in our fridge, which was never fulfilled. Overall the food was...ok. It was about what I would have expected from a three-star resort. The buffet offerings were fairly good, and varied. The Japanese Teppanyaki table was entertaining and the food was decent. The Italian restaurant was mid at best. Oceana was disappointing. The Bluewater Grill was probably the best of the options available. I don't know what extra value the $1000USD SunClub upgrade ACTUALLY got us, beyond a nicer room. At no point did anyone ask us to show our card to access the SunClub area. There was no one checking to see if the people in the "exclusive" area were ACTUALLY Sun Club members. There was no one making sure the general public didn't wander up on to the beach and take a beach chair. The "exclusive" area coffee maker didn't work the entire time we were at the resort, even though everyone I spoke to had called in a complaint about it. I will admit that the room upgrade was about the only good thing that spending all that extra money got us, in my opinion. Either things weren't explained to us in great enough detail, or there wasn't actually any significant other benefit to this "upgrade".

    Amazing resort location!

The resort was amazing, could use improvement in the food quality and service. The food in the buffet was just okay. The bar service was very slow.

    Horrible Resort

This resort is so out dated and looks nothing like the pictures. Our room smelled like was mold. There was no hot water. The shower would not drain - we stood in ankle deep water. The sink wouldn’t drain. The room included a “mini bar” that has 2 Cokes, one Sprite, and 2 beers and 2 waters. The only thing replenished was the water once they verified you drank it. The only good thing I can say about the food is the Italian restaurant. It was very good. The rest was horrible. No variety - the same everyday. The beach was amazing. Bottom line - this place is great if you are willing to sleep on the beach during your entire stay. The pictures I shared will speak for themselves. We wasted $4600 on this trip - so we didn’t get what we paid for.

Great location, but do better Hyatt!!

The resort itself seemed rundown and in need of repair and updating, not what I expected out of a Hyatt hotel, it was mor in line with a Motel 6. The only place to get ice was the bar area. The food was mediocre. The room was in need of a good cleaning, however the bedding and towels were clean. A/C had a hard time keeping up, fortunately we were out on the beach most of the day anyhow. The cold water knob on the bathroom sink didn't function. The lounge chairs on the beach were very worn and most of them sagged enough that you were resting on the cross members, not very comfortable at all. The staff were all very friendly, hard working, cheery, and nice. They were doing the best they could with what they had. One notable exception was a concierge who immediately after we hit the beach began upselling experiences, especially the spa, in a rather pushy way. We eventually reserved a time at the spa, not because we wanted it, but just to get rid of her so we could lay on the beach in peace. She did tell us there was a cancellation fee, which turned out to be 50% ($140 USD)!! When we called the spa to cancel she told us as long as we cancel 4 hours or more ahead of time there was no fee. But even she was a little pushy about rescheduling rather than cancelling. So, we rescheduled a few times, but eventually cancelled with the front desk, because the spa was closed at the time. A few hours before our departure time the concierge made sure to track us down and repeatedly admonish us for not showing up to the spa. We told her we cancelled at the desk, but she replied that wasn't how to cancel (like we knew that). She repeated over, and over, and over again about how we should have done this or that, again like we knew, and that we needed to pay a $140 USD cancellation fee. I'm a very patient and gracious person, I'm never rude, but after the 4th or 5th time repeating herself like we were children, I became annoyed enough to be uncharacteristically rude to her to get her to leave us alone, my wife was shocked, in 18 years she'd never seen me get that annoyed. Of course the concierge made sure to catch me on the way to check out, where she said I could pay the *&*^%^ fee, but instead she literally walked me down to the spa to instead, under the guise that it's be quicker. The spa person ran my card, asked if I needed a receipt, which I didn't, and said goodbye. At that point the concierge asked the cashier, "did he sign [the receipt] ", the cashier then printed a vendor copy and had me sign it, I knew right away what she was doing, it's hard to dispute a charge you signed for, I remember thinking she's done this many times before, and it's likely the front desk wouldn't have had me sign for the charge. Back to the good, the views were amazing!! The island had a lot of things to do and see. All of the people on and off resort were very nice. We felt safe the entire time we were there. The entertainment was great! We happened to stay during the Super Bowl, they put up a giant projection screen and had a really nice Super Bowl party. We'd definitely visit Curaçao again, but not at this resort.
