Adults only section should be consistently monitored. Beach bar staff need to be addressed.
Aquamarine beach bar staff (Joslyn and Rigo) are ignorant and rude. Adults only section - although no one is watching over it so guests of the other sections invade your space (with kids) and remove loungers. It got so bad we had to have security come to the beach to ask them to move but it didn't last long, security didn't stay so it was just a rotating door of guests that didn't pay to be in the adults only section. They even took the loungers down the beach on a daily basis. Not being managed well. Check in is at 3 yet our room still wasn't available. Finally at 5 on our 3rd attempt we got another room assigned to us but we had to ask for a supervisor. We had been travelling for 16 hours and expected a room at 3. Had issues with the room maintenance, broken tap and door lock but didn't want to have to move again. Restaurants were great. Noise wasn't the hotels fault, just ignorant guests. The beach is beautiful and overall it can be a decent value depending on what you pay but they need to get a handle on the adults only sections, timely check ins, and do some updating.

Bahia Principe - overall good and would go back
The resort overall was above average. We were in one of the older rooms, villa 71 The bathroom needed a remodel badly and the bed was really hard but other than that the room was satisfactory. The pools were great and clean. We tried several pools and liked all of them. The food was above average and I liked that we had many choices on what and where we could eat. The staff was mostly friendly with the exception of one girl at guest service, who was rude each and every time we asked for information or had a question. We used the buffet for breakfast every day and found it good every time. Lots of choices and the staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the foam party at the pool and also liked the fire show. The trams ran all the time and were willing to take us to where ever we wanted to go on the resort. Overall, we enjoyed the resort and would go back.

Busy, cockroaches, salty food, watered down drinks. Nice grounds but way too big!
Very busy, cockroaches in rooms, watered down drinks, room was far walk to the beach which we weren't told about, didn't realize there were 7 resorts on the same property, way too busy. Overall the resort is well maintained, but I would recommend Bahia Principe Luxury Bougainville in La Romana over this resort.

Well, the weather was beautiful…
Review Bahia Aquamarine We have just returned from 9 nights at Bahia Principe Aquamarine. Check in and getting to our rooms went smoothly, we didn’t arrive at the resort until after 4:30pm, so our rooms were ready. Just a few issues with the rooms, one television didn’t work at all, and was replaced, and our fridge didn’t work, maintenance came quickly and fixed it. The app is very convenient, I went on, went to concierge services and requested service for the fridge, and he showed up under 10 minutes, great service!! Room is ok, dated, but very, very clean! There are no amenities on the bathroom counter like you find in a more upscale resort. If you need something (sewing kit, etc) you can request it on the app. There is liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, very nice scents. Our housekeeper was great! I think her name was Angelica. Room 81103, a fantastic location, we were VERY happy with the location of our room!!! Restaurants Friends we travelled with, the wife has an allergy to sesame, it does list pictures of what is in the dishes, but if you ask a waiter or waitress, they are not knowledgeable about the ingredients. At one dinner there was no one that could help us with ingredients, language barrier, so our friend just didn’t take the risk. Needless to say, we did not dine in any of the Asian restaurants. Dinner the first night was at Olivo, I had ribs, only on menu, not on internet menu, took one bite, all fat, didn’t eat the rest, too much fat. Los Olas, Brazilian was very good, the salad bar is very extensive, the meats were all very good. Tequila Restaurant, a lot of people have left rave reviews for this restaurant and we agreed, I had the burrito, it was yummy. Went to Portofino restaurant, had a pizza, very good, it’s pretty big, enough for two to share! Went to Limbo, and had the tenderloin there, there was a lot of fat on my piece of meat! Went to Capriccio, Italian, had the spaghetti, it was very good, sauce was nice. Went to the buffet on the last night, all good, they have a lot of variety of food, there is something for everyone. Had a caramel crepe for dessert, Heaven!! Breakfasts were great, had omelettes almost every morning, so good, lots of variety of breakfast choices, and the fruit choices are plentiful, love seeing the passion fruit every morning! They DO NOT enforce long pants or closed toe shoes in the gourmet restaurants, our husbands wore pants into El Olivo and a large party was seated after us, all the men had shorts on and two of the gentlemen were wearing flip flops, enforce the rule or remove it, one or the other! I said something to the hostess, but it just went on deaf ears! The Pool Loud, loud, loud, that’s the best way to describe it. The d.j. And entertainment staff love to listen to their own voices. Alternative is the quiet pool, which is attached to the main pool. Unfortunately, the ‘ quiet pool ‘ is non existent. The music is played very, very loud and the base is too much! It is most difficult to hold a conversation! The towel game is played here every morning. Just like a bull fight, the premium chairs are in the shade, and are gone first. My friend was up at 7:00am every morning to grab our loungers in the shade. The servers around the pool are great, bring your own mug, the cups they serve in are tiny!! The grill by the pool is convenient, but the woman that works in there is just miserable, like we are interrupting something she is doing! Got lost of ‘hurumphs’ from her. Special shout-out to Yorki by the pool, great waiter! Entertainment They do have contests at around 3:00pm by the pool, and the foam party was on Wednesday afternoon. The circus show, and the fire show were very good, and the silent disco show was soooo much fun! The white night was fun, the neon light guys on stilts were entertaining! Other points A few evenings the hotel put out chocolates, jellies and macaroons out in the table in the main Aquamarine lobby, very nice, but they need to put out more tongs, a lot of the guests were just using their fingers to help themselves. Yuck. Francesco at the lobby bar was excellent, my husband introduced a new drink to him (burnt martini) and he made it for him perfectly every evening before we went to dinner. The housekeepers are up very early every morning and make sure you know it, the hallways are all ceramic floors and voices carry, these ladies do not speak softly to each other, but literally yell down the hallway, there is no sleeping in past 8am, even ear plugs didn’t help! We two couples were celebrating our 40th anniversaries, I did write to the hotel to let them know that we were travelling for our anniversaries, they put a banner on the door and there was a bottle of champagne on the table, no glasses, no bucket, just a bottle. I thought that was kinda strange. The cats on the resort are adorable, and will make biscuits on you for free. I brought down treats for them, got some nasty comments, like they ‘are working cats, don’t feed them’ I wasn’t feeding them, just giving them treats, didn’t make it into a meal, jeez people!! They look well cared for as well. Internet is decent. Tried to call and speak with the front desk a couple of times, phone was answered, and I was put on hold, waited forever for them to come back to me, they never did! Another side note: We travelled with Air Transat and my friend and I were wheelchair passengers, we both have had knee replacement on both our knees and are limited in the amount of walking we can do. At Punta Cana airport, it’s first come first served to get onto the airplane. There is no zone 1 or 2, or kids and wheelchairs first, it’s a free-for-all, it was an uncontrolled crowd and people didn’t care if you were in a wheelchair or with kids. Once we got to Toronto, the wheelchair and the staff were waiting for us as we got off the aircraft. The staff took us up the ramp and left us in our wheelchairs next to the elevator, then they left us, without explaining to us where they were going or what they were doing. They were gone for about 10-15 minutes, enough time for our husbands to change into their warm winter clothes, when they finally showed up I voiced my annoyance. ‘Where did you go, you just left us here without telling us what was happening?’ I was asked why I was being hostile. I wasn’t being hostile, I was concerned about what was going on!!
