Wonderful stay. Ignore bad reviews!
Reading some of the reviews on here... I am shocked by how low some of the ratings are! We had the most amazing time at this hotel! Accommodation: Room was modern and clean. 2 double beds very comfy and as someone who struggles to sleep, I slept great. We did have to sleep one of us each (my partner and I) in a separate bed as we are used to having a king-size at home. Our son found the sofa bed comfy so this was not a huge problem. Iron/board and hairdryer all available. Modern electrical fittings including USB C charger point. TV huge and good selection of channels. All services (room service, spa, concierge etc) easily available from phone. Nice balcony looking out at the jungle area. Enjoyed the jet bath. Air con working well (very important to us!). Mini bar kept well stocked and cleaners did great job everyday. Only real bugbear is the doors to shower do not close properly as they are misaligned and the lights go off automatically so had to keep popping my head out of the shower to turn it back on. Facilities & Activities: Amble space in the pool, plenty of sun loungers (do not need to wake up early to secure one like ar some resorts!) Some pools quiet and some with a party atmosphere so something for everyone. Really enjoyed the swim up to bars. We enjoyed the foam party on one of the days, really good fun. We went to the spa for hydrotherapy and massage... not a huge fan of the hydrotherapy but we loved the Swedish massage so much that we went back for another later during our stay! There was different entertainment every night but we only caught a couple of shows as we were often tired from activities during the day. The dancers are great! There is also a huge entertainment theatre so most nights there is room to sit. We took advantage of the free kayak, paddleboard and snorkeling service on the beach which was great fun and one of our best days! Even seeing a ray! Beach is well kept and beautiful with clear sea - you can see the fish swimming around your legs! Some seaweed which is cleared every day by the hardworking staff. Dining & Cuisine We were so impressed by the all inclusive buffet! One of the best we have had at a resort. Lots of variety and good quality food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are not a huge fan of some of the desserts which were very gelatin based but we loved the cakes and ice cream. We went to four of the additional restaurants: - Oishi tepanyaki, italian, meat grill and oishi buffet. All amazing beautiful food and great atmosphere however food took a very long time to come out at the meat grill. Also worth a shout is the beach bbq which was incredibly tasty. Beers were sometimes a bit flat but otherwise coffee shops and cocktails beautiful! Service & Staff Staff are some of the friendliest we have met at a resort. They are so helpful and i think that more visitors should be respectful of their language. They are so hardworking qnd do all that they can to keep the visitors happy. Location & Surroundings Beach is stunning. Definatley worth a visit for the kayaking and snorkeling. Visitors should be cautious with the high waves on windy days and save going in the sea for calmer days. The pelicans were wonderful to watch diving for fish. I also recommend visiting nearby xplor and xelha if you enjoy water/extreme activities. The animals such as monkeys, inguana, coati, seregue and racoons were so entertaining! From my room at night I heard an almighty crash and went outside to see 2 racoons had tipped the bin up and were looking at me like they were naughty children... I found adorable however understand the cleaners might not appreciate it!

Pleasant stay, but would not rebook.
We have just returned from spending 2 weeks at the Gran Sirenis on our honeymoon. We travelled to Mexico 3 years ago and stayed at a different hotel which is also a 5* rating and it is hard not to compare. Overall we would not stay again. The hotel is lovely but there are things that are lacking and need improvement. Rooms: We had a few issues with our aircon including it leaking onto the floor quite significantly. This was rectified, however the aircon was never working to a good standard. It had to be set at 9 degrees to feel any benefit and this only just kept the room about cool. The aircon was also very loud. So if you are a light sleeper it isn’t ideal. Little touches like only 1 glass and 1 cup. Only double beds in size. Again, hard not to compare when you have stayed in a 5* resort in Mexico before where larger beds come as standard. Buffet restaurant: The food was tasty and constantly replenished. However trying to get a table is a nightmare. It’s very frustrating! There seemed to always be plenty of tables which were empty, just not being turned around quick enough. Dinner was better than breakfast. Also the time it takes to sort your drinks is far too long. The food choices are the same most days with little change. Al a restaurants: We ate at all the restaurants. They were all really unique and the food was lovely on the whole. Bars: Plenty of choice. Sunset bar has entertainment most nights. Hotel: They are constantly working on the hotel to maintain which was evident. It always smelt amazing and was more than tidy. Pools: There are a number of pool choices. We tended to stay at the ‘quieter’ pool which is the second larger pool outside butchers. This still offered entertainment. The music was hit and miss. It was connected to the staffs phone so would either cut off or get interrupted when there were messages getting received etc. The service in all honesty was lacking. You can wait a long time at the bar for a drink and longer if you want to wait for the staff to come and take. We have no problem getting our own drinks at all, but it’s either you have to get into the pool for the bar or walk to the beach bar to get. Really it would be better if there was a bar dry side of the pool also. Towels need upgrading. The brown are lovely, the yellow ones need throwing. Overall service This was lacking. You can be waiting a long time to be seen. The staff clearly work hard, however I would say on the whole the staff were a bit miserable. Not many manage to crack a smile. Of course this is not all staff, but unfortunately I would say the majority. Concierge The staff here are the exception to the above. All very pleasant and helpful. Also, don’t get drawn into the ‘free breakfast and massage at the ultimate area’. This is sold to you as an opportunity to see the Ultimate area for you to book direct with them in the future and they stress it is not to sell anything. We actually ended up not attending, and thank god we didn’t. We heard from many couples/families who went and got trapped. This eats into at least 2.5 hrs of your day and is 100% to sell. Not just 1 staff come but a few. Just be upfront and honest what it is you are getting signed up for. Even though the hotel was more than pleasant, we would not stay again. If you want that extra luxury, I would go elsewhere. I wouldn’t class this is a 5* and more of a 4*.
