  Know before you go!

  the club level experience was not what it should be. don't spend the money. virtually no help with anything from them. We asked for help with a reservation to a restaurant, nope you have to use the app and you have to wait until 1:30pm, asked for change so we could tip, nope you have to go to the front desk, we asked for help to maybe buy a quality bottle from a liquor store as they had no bourbon at all, nope check with the front desk, I could go on, but just don't spend the money on that. a few things you should know: this hotel is very remote, so if you wanted to go into town or check out anything else, it would be at least a 30 minute drive in a cab. There is literally nothing around this hotel. also, no alcohol served before 10 am, this includes bloody marys or mimosas with breakfast. They have a sports bar, but no alcohol or food (if they had any) before 6 pm, so forget about watching a football game there, you are better off in your room. The food at market cafe was good and the service there was excellent. The other places to dine were "ok".

  We will definitely return to SPM

  Second time to visit SPM but first time since renovations. We have been to several resorts up and down the Eastern coast of Mexico and this one is now one of our favorites. First, the beach and water are beautiful and because of the location, very little sargassum. They are able to keep up with any that comes ashore. I never cease to be amazed by the work ethic in the people that work at the resorts. Joselyn was the first female worker we've ever seen working as a bellhop but I promise you no one will try harder. Carla at the preferred club check in was great! She always had a smile on her face and was willing to help. Jaime Lagunas, the preferred club concierge was perfection when it comes to customer service. He made each of his customers feel like they were the only ones. Maru also at preferred club was one of the hardest workers I've seen. On the rainy days when she couldn't serve people outside, she was inside wrapping silverware and doing whatever she could to help. Now, to the grounds... beautiful! They were working on them every day. when it rained, it was like all the little worker bees came out as soon as the sky cleared and they were cleaning up from the rain. The bed was comfortable and I had some of the best sleep I have had in months. we were in building 2 with an ocean view room. The music at night always stopped at 10 so no issues there. This resort allows for relaxing quiet rest or fun around the pool in the afternoon. The spa was amazing. Hydrotherapy and massages helped make the vacation even more memorable. Alejandro at Ki Ki Che for breakfast was amazing.Honestly we didn't encounter bad service anywhere. The reservation system wasn't an issue. We were able to eat anywhere we wanted to with or without reservations.

  Our Fitness Destination Resort! Great Beach!

  If you like to stay fit when you travel, then this is the resort for you. The Secrets Playa Mujeres gym manager, Victor, is a world class athlete and amazing trainer. Receiving rigorous, expert training sessions was an unexpected surprise upon entering this very well outfitted gym, new equipment, machines, clean, lots of exercise accessories, plentiful towels. Victor will not hesitate to correct form and assist to maximize your fitness goals. He is willing to provide one-on-one training sessions which we welcomed. My husband worked with him at 6AM for an hour, and I did later, sometimes for over an hour. His expertise and creativity to maximize muscle groups and meet fitness goals, was amazing. And while he trained us, he kept an eagle eye out for other guests who may need some advice or a session. We left our week long stay in better shape than we arrived, and with an arsenal of new workouts to take home.....We definitely will be back and Victor's excellent training is the number one reason why......in other resort news, overall the resort is beautiful. Gorgeous beach and ocean views, beautiful infinity pool, and Bali beds for preferred guest on a first come first serve basis. They are almost always not booked. Do get your towels and personal item situated on your seating preference as poolside seating outside of Bali Beds does get busy. Staff is a little thin around the pool area as compared to our favorite resort, Secrets Playa Blanca, but the bars are plentiful for drinks. The resort is very very busy with weddings, we were amazed at the 2-3 weddings per day! The left and right areas of the courtyard in the main pool area is where the staff sets up the receptions. We had dinner one night at the Seaside Grill (great food btw) but it was impossible to enjoy as two receptions were being held at the same time and each one turning the volume higher than the other.....the extreme noise level made dining at Seaside, positioned at the center of the courtyard area overlooking the pool, impossible to enjoy. My ears are still ringing. That may be a design flaw for the resort or they are just having an unexpected number of weddings in October!! Do ask if there are wedding receptions scheduled the night you want to dine at Seaside, and often it is obvious with the set up activity the day of the reception...... Overall, the resort food is good. Portofino was good, Seaside without the reception racket is wonderful, we wish the breakfast at the Market Cafe buffet was more varied; it's smaller that the Market Cafe at other Secrets. But the fruit is wonderful. Coco's is good, but some days the pastries seemed to be left over from the day before instead of replaced daily. The coffees and teas a great, amazing ice creams and desserts..... The spa was wonderful, Arce the therapist led us through a hydrotherapy treatment, and his head/neck massage at the end was heavenly. Great ending to an intense training session with Victor at the gym. Preferred lounge is nice, but we thought the food was at times cold, not temperature controlled as it should be. But, concierge Jaime Laguna was incredible, reserving dinners for us, preparing and reserving Bali Beds, as well as reserving some dinners at Dreams, since we are planning a future family trip including children. Ki Ki Che, Preferred's 7-course dining experience was wonderful. By reservation only, it is upstairs with heavenly evening ocean and Playa Mujeres views. Each course is a culinary "Journey", creatively created and very good. Very small portions, very gourmet, but an elevated dining experience you should try. Ki Ki Che manager Daniel welcomed us warmly, treated us like valued friends, and waiters Luis, Oscar and Juan served each course with expert culinary explanations. An experience you don't want to miss. .......At this resort, having access to both Dreams and Secrets gives you many options, as well as more trails thru both resorts to walk, run, and explore nature. They do provide golf cart transportation all day and night as well. The trails have two really cool "lookout" towers, for bird and sunset watching. Overall, the resort is beautiful, well manicured, rooms are all renovated, with wonderful seaside colors. The beach is heavenly, lots of smooth, soft sand and clear water. We experienced very little seaweed, only the day we were leaving a wave of dark sargassum rolled in, but nothing like what we experienced at Tulum or Akumal. Overall the ocean here is consistently beautiful. Lot of beach seating and Bali Beds. We look forward to returning, especially to continue our health and wellness journey with incredible training sessions with Victor at the gym!....... All in all, we loved this beautiful resort and you will too. Thank you Secrets Playa Mujeres!

  Great Staff

  Overall very enjoyable trip. Room, dining and service was all above average. The employees elevate the experience. Michele, Dulce, David.Eduardo, Luis,Zorida and Alejandro made breakfast and lunch at Kiki Chi and Oceano a highlight of the vacation with their professionalism and personalities. Managers Super Mario, Pablo and Daniel made sure all our needs were catered to. A special shout out to chef Eduardo who seemed to be always on hand to ensure all our dining requirements were provided for. Rogelio and Valeria made our evenings at Ayara and Portofino special. Albin and Jaimie provided top notch service at the pool and beach. Criticisms? Evening entertainment, pre and post dinner was poor. Not up to Secrets standards. Towels at pool and beach were smelly and threadbare. Get some new towels! Looking forward to our Christmas visit.

  Best Suite we have ever had

  We returned from Secrets Playa Mujeres last week, we had 10 nights in a beautiful suite with our own pool overlooking the beach. I would say the best room we have ever had on a vacation it was stunning, and the room service was excellent. Due to low season some of the restaurants were closed for some of the nights, so the choice was reduced, but he quality of the food at all the restaurants was really good. The buffet I found disappointing compared to other resorts. My only negative was the place in the evening lacked atmosphere after you have eaten, the club was either dead or could be quite fun, but the bars really lacked atmosphere especially in the preferred club bar, it was more like an executive lounge at the airport. The staff were lovely as you expect at a Secrets resort. Loved it but Secrets Cap Cana is still the winner overall.
