  Our Stay At Secrets Puerto Vallarta

  The resort is nice, however, the rooms are a little dated but clean. The food was great at each restaurant we ate at. The staff at the resort is very friendly and helpful. Our Butler, Jose, was awesome! He made sure we had everything we needed. During our stay, we experienced a water leak under our sink. Jose ensured the leak was repaired expeditiously. Additionally, he went out of his way to make reservations for our group both on and off property. We really appreciated him going the extra mile for us.

  We loved this place.

  The resort was great. Wish the water was safe to get into but its just a risk with the river being so close and crocodiles being nearby. The pools were sufficient. The massage on the beach was out of this world. The service was great. Especially Angeles and Maria. Great location.

  Great rooms, not a good beach or shopping. Food mediocre.

  The good: one of the most beautiful and comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in. We were in the Oceanview Jr Suite, which is the base type I think. The bathtub was luxurious. The view from the balcony was beautiful. Free room service is pretty nice. The crowd was older white retired middle class ready to party. Very friendly people. The mediocre: the service was fine. The food was Applebee's quality. The spa was grossly overpriced. The location is a cheap Uber ride to shopping and popular beaches and restaurants. Very little in walking distance. The bad: The beach isn't recommended for swimming. The beach and pool chairs are filled by 10:30am with cruise ship style competition. The roosters that live in the empty lot next door. The "concierge" service that is just there to funnel you to the spa and the time share presentations. The reservation system for the two restaurants that require reservations, you have to physically go to the desk at 10am to make a same day appointment. Tips: one half of this hotel is "Dreams' that is a family hotel and " secrets" is the adult hotel. Strangely, the food is significantly better at Dreams with the walk in half of the Asian restaurant being the best of the mediocre choices. It is hard to find the Asian and Mexican restaurants. They are near the amphitheatre. There are 3 great massage studios just outside the entrance to the hotel for $30 an hour. We were able to walk in for a couples massage at Essence Massage and it was a great massage!

  Best Surprise Stay

  My husband and I had our flights cancelled and we ended up staying at Secrets one night and wow! They really made us feel special and cared for! Such a good experience out of a stressful one! We will be back!! Seriously beautiful!

  January 2026 Secrets PV Review

  Smaller resort. Nearly every room has an ocean view, except floor level that have their own pools, so if you don’t want to swim with people you also don’t get a view. Food is excellent. Service from the staff is amazing. 10 min drive from airport. Greeted with warm towels and margaritas when exiting our shuttle. They take your bags, check in and give a quick tour. You can start partaking ASAP on arrival or get your activities scheduled while you wait for your room. Check in is 3pm so expect this if flying in early. When your room is ready, they deliver your bags. Room service is included not charged to room (preferred). Get down to the pool and reserve a spot, when it got busy it was hard to find a chair. Don’t be gone for more than 30-60 minutes the staff will move your stuff to make room. Pool closes around 6pm which is fine and they aren’t super strict, but so does the hot tub?!? Didn’t like that. I like to take a dip after dark…Best food was the Mexican, French restaurant and Oceana. The buffet is very good. Activities during the day are meh, nighttime was good clean fun. Karaoke and silent dance party was a hoot! “Disco” (club party) a few nights for those that can tear up a dance-floor. Do the boat ride to island show. It was called rhythm of the night, it changes a few times throughout the year. It was fantastic!!! Spring for the premier package if your a couple. Very romantic. The town is great…safe. If you need something or forgot to bring something, go just outside the resort to the first block and there are a few shops and pharmacies that don’t charge an arm and leg. Perfect little town for resort and feel safe going and wandering during the day to shop and see the city. Could probly rent a car and get around safely, but taxis are cheap and convenient. ~100 pesos ($6-$7us) will get you anywhere too far to walk.
