Sep 08, 2025Nice resort, not great beach experience
Great hotel: nice, large, modern rooms. Beach is not great, a lot of seaweed (despite staff's efforts to remove it), big waves. On the last day we all got stung by jellyfish or something else while in the water :( Food: Restaurants offered great food and very slow service. Most of the staff speaks very little English, hard to explain. Buffet food options are kind of limited compared to the similar resorts.

The property is a little older and looks more run down. I went ahead and upgraded our room to a private pool suite and had hoped the preferred areas would be better, but they weren't. I spent most of my free time next door at Breathless which was a much better resort with better restaurants. We also got to tout Secrets Tide which is a much better resort.

The staff is exceptional
The food is ok, it’s hit or miss, not much in between. Our room is nice but we had issues with electricity on arrival, they came quickly to fix it. I forgot my breast pump so once we got over the language barrier, they did everything they could to accommodate me. I felt very cared for. The place is very nice and worth the price of admission. Just be sure to pack everything you really need because your shopping options are limited and not like home.

If you are lucky enough to be assigned a butler, request Starling! He made our stay so much better than it already was! He was attentive, kind and caring. He greeted us with a huge, sincere smile every day and was always at our service even though he had many guests in his charge.

Overall my family and I had an amazing vacation. We were greeted with smiles all day everyday.
I usually don’t leave reviews but here goes one. We were truly impressed by the cleanliness of the entire resort. Grounds, pools, beach area, lounge area etc were constantly being up kept. All restaurants and buffets have wide selections to choose from and great tasting food! Our “butler” Josue was nothing short of amazing! He kept us informed daily, scheduled our reservations and made sure all our expectations are being met. Our house keeping lady was amazing unfortunately I didn’t get her name but we stood in room 5252 from 8/26-9/2. Breakfast every morning was delicious and plenty of fresh options to choose from. Our waiters from the preffered side were always attentive and in a good mood. Our coffee or mimosas were never empty. Shout out to Yael, Ignacio aka Kawasaki vroom vroom, Hilario aka Black King, and Ramon aka Panda. Shout out to all the amazing bar tenders especially Feliciano at the beach, & Eliphet and Vladimir at the splash pool. Guillermo always took great care of us at the Barefoot grill. Shout out to all the entertainment staff Especially Marco aka Drake and La Chispita from playing beach volleyball to pool activities. Last but definitely not least a big shout out to Señor Freddy! He’s always around engaging with the guest making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and ensuring everything is operating smoothly.
