Family vacation- full review! Pura vida.
We were a group of 10 (2 family's of 5) and loved the Westin! It was the second half of our Costa Rica trip- and looking forward to some downtime and beach excursions! Beach was beautiful. Yes some people selling things, but also receptive to "no thank you"- there was no pressure. Tide does get strong when tides are changing and beach drops off pretty quick so keep an eye on the younger kids. Shout out to the BLUE massage tent! Incredible hour and well worth it. Food: was good quality for all inclusive. My kids love a buffet, so preferred the Mitre Market to sit down, but parents not so much. We did Bamboo (send someone to get in line at 5:30), was AWESOME. Italian was good- steakhouse was eh. Evening festivities- my kids left it all on the stage for Karaoke, even I got into the silent disco... Staff: incredible, especially in the family center. Knew our names, our kids, ordered a special cake for my birthday on our first day. All my kids liked the kids club- which they never do- even our 11 year olds. At first we thought it was a bit quiet and drab- but the kids LOVED it. Pool: I heard it "looked dirty". At first glance, true- but I just realized that the bottom was really just a darker color than the typical blue pools we see in the states. Totally fine. Maybe some leaves from all the trees- but they provide nice shade bc IT IS HOT. Room: set up is nice for the family room. My only complaint is there isn't many places to hang towels, wet bathing suits, or "unpack". A dresser would have been nice. We are ok living out of suitcases but if you are not- that was one downfall. I saw someone brought a clothesline and hung outside- would recommend so long as the monkeys won't steel it. They were all over- so fun to see- and wow they can howl! Excursions: conchelfun was great. Super responsive over WhatsApp. We did a morning of surfing in tamarindo, which in retrospect id spend the day in- such a different feel then coming from Arenal. They got all the kids up on the board-was very tolerant of my 6yo who wasn't all that interested and it was so fun. We also did a private catamaran- highly recommend. They brought all the food and booze and toys for the ocean! Was one of the highlights. My only complaint the whole week was the last night. They had a corporate company come in, had been advertising a movie and fire show all week- which everyone was excited about. All cancelled too preform privately for the event. Mitre market and imperial were closed to accommodate them and so we were left scrambling for dinner plans now not having the movie or mitre market. My company does these events as well, so I've been on the other side of it- but they shouldn't have been advertising them ALL week. Literally- all you see at breakfast or on the TV in your room is the advertisement... and then no communication. My kids were disappointed, we were too knowing how much they loved the events so far- and how's instantly dashed - you know how well that goes over with over tired vacationing kiddos. We did our best to not have it ruin our impression of the week, but communication should have been better. All in all- we loved it, we would likely go back with kids. I'm not sure it's the place I'd pick if it were just couples. Pura Vida!

Great trip!
Great trip to the Westin and Costa Rica. I travel a lot for work and have stayed at luxury properties around the world and am a Marriott loyalist. The room was perfectly sized for our family of 5 and comfortable although we spent most of our time at the beach and the pool. It was spring break so tons of kids and families around which meant our kids made friends and were entertained! We did massages on the beach and an amazing excursion to La Leona Waterfall and Zipline with Eric on the beach (Google shirt). He also handled our transfer to / from Liberia. Both were flawless with very professional and friendly drivers. Our driver to La Leona even did the zipline with us!! He was amazing. Eric went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our trip and followed up to ensure all went well. The hotel was beautiful. We enjoyed the food mostly - some was average, but other times the food was really good. Faisanella, Botany Bar + Tapas and Bamboo were our favorites. Staff was friendly. It was busy so hard to get a golf cart for us and ended up walking most of the time to the beach/pool area. Our room was very close to the lobby, but we didn't mind walking as we got to see Iguanas and monkeys often! We will be back!

Beautiful property- nice all inclusive
I am just back from a week at the Westin Playa Conchal. We went with another family and our teens. Had a really nice week Highlights for the kids included renting jet skis right on the beach, daily Pickleball( (reserve court, and get rackets at the activity center) and very large pool, which never felt too crowded The property is gorgeous and extremely well maintained by very hard-working staff. My first morning had howler monkeys in the mango trees, right in front of my room. Lots of raccoon-usually trying to get into the trash, iguanas also trying to steal food and a few coati The workout space was very good. I did a few classes- yoga on the beach and morning stretch. The instructors tried hard, but it was not a typical yoga class and communication and presentation a bit limited. We took a “bike tour” around the property. Bryan was lovely and enthusiastic. The tour would’ve been better walking as there was not much cycling to be had. We booked two trips with Erik Garcia who wears his blue google shirt and is on the beach every day. Very fun hike to Leona waterfall. There is nearby zip lining. Most excursions take you back through Liberia with at least an hour and a half to two hours in the car each way. Our driver Jeffrey was wonderful . Excursions include driving and lunch. The restaurants on the property were probably the weakest part of the experience, excluding Faisenella and our wonderful waiter, Christophe Cruz! You should eat here every night. It is tucked away in tower 2. Food and service were wonderful. They have done away with the reservation system on the app leading to long lines. We tried to wait in line for bamboo, the Asian restaurant one night, but ended up at a different restaurant when we finally went back the next night and got in line early, service and food. Were both mediocre. The buffet at Mitra market was great for breakfast every morning. Get there early or be prepared to wait for a table. Beach massage is a lovely relaxing experience, the constant selling of their services gets a bit annoying but you can tune them out The beach is beautiful and sunsets there should not be missed. There were a couple of days when it was too windy for them to put up umbrellas. Otherwise, go early, ask one of the staff for lounge chairs, and an umbrella and tip nicely. We walked 5 to 6 miles most days, played pickleball and rarely took the carts which are available circling the property Our room was lovely. However, they were double beds and not queens, which does get a bit small. The door to our unit did not close completely and we had to fix the toilet one night. Overall, a lovely experience, and Costa Rica remains one of my favorite places. Pura Vida.

Great Stay- a couple steps up from your standard All Inclusive
We just enjoyed 4 days/3 nights at the Westin, and had a terrific time. We were also coming off the back of 5 days at an exceptional 5 star property in the mountains so we were prepared for a little vacation shock. I'll be succinct and try to organize my feedback, but I'll preface my whole review with this: all inclusives are inherently different than standard hotels: bigger, perhaps less personal, and a often more crowded. That said, this Westin leaned on the Bon Voy and Westin brand, and as such was close to as nice as any all inclusive we've stayed. The property: vast, clean, well integrated with the natural surroundings. Teeming with wildlife- we saw countless howler monkeys, iguanas, coatis, mapaches, great ant eater, South American porcupine and about 50 species of tropical fish and a Ridley's Olive sea turtle snorkeling right from the beach. Laid out in lovely 8 unit bungalows, we really enjoyed the property. Room: Villa style, separate bedroom and living area, huge bathroom, lovely terrace. AC was ice cold, can stream Prime and Netflix, mini bar stocked with beer, H20, soda, juice daily, room service available and included. Great set up with flexible bed configurations (we had 2 doubles and a queen pull out) The food- actually good-not great but good. Breakfast and lunch buffet was vast and as you'd expect, but fresh fruit and omelet/benedict stations and plenty of pastry options. Lunch had grills, all sorts of hand helds etc- nothing spectacular but definitely options. The a la carte dining was surprisingly good: the decor and service throughout the restaurants was lovely (Spirula Italian, Faisenlla Mediterranean and Bamboo, Asian) They were very much akin to mid tier "fine dining" in small US cities or suburbian areas. I never expect to be blown away, but we really enjoyed the dinners. Drinks: better than average. Westin has sponsorships with Smirnoff, Tanqueray, Heineken and Imperial (Costa rican beer) so the drinks arent with absolutely garbage ingredients. This is much more family centric than party centric, but easy to have a couple of cocktails. All restaurants had bespoke cocktail lists that we found great. Golf: course is Troon operated RTJ Jr course- great layout, couple of long par 4's- scorable course. Great service and easy use- can walk to the proshop and rental clubs were 2024 Taylor Made Qi35. Beach/Snorkeling/Paddleboarding/Kayaking- All included, and lovely. The beaches in CR cannot be totally private, so you'll see some locals and local vendors, by the water is spectacular, warm and clear and loaded with sealife. Activities from the Beach: We did a sport fishing and a couple of jet ski activities booked through Eric Garcia (in the google / Tripadvisor shirt) at the beach. He isnt affiliated with the hotel, but he is terrific- great English, very clear instructions, very responsible. We took a 3 hour sport fishing afternoon tour where we got to explore the rocky islands off the coast, and in 3 hours hauled 8 fish. Gorgeous sunset as well. Activities in the area: we had already been in the jungle for a week, but we spoke to many people who had great experiences surfing, hiking, coffee plantation etc booked through the hotel All in all, really enjoyable, much less trashy than a standard all inclusive, and a great place for a family to enjoy the wonders of CR! Pura Vida!

A Perfect Getaway with Great People and Memorable Excursions
We had a fantastic stay at the Westin Reserva Conchal! The property is beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff was welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. We especially loved spending time at the pool & swim up bar- it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. A special shoutout to Manuel at the pool cabana, who was absolutely excellent- friendly, helpful, and made our time there even more enjoyable. Steven at Concierge was also wonderful- knowledgeable, professional, and always ready to assist with anything we needed. The excursions arranged through Swiss travel were a highlight of our trip, offering unforgettable experiences and a great way to explore the area around Guanacaste. We also had a great experience with Erik, the travel expert in the blue shirt just outside the Westin on the beach. He was incredibly helpful in arranging activities and gave us great recommendations. We'd definitely recommend the Westin Reserve to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway!
