Warning to Alaska Airlines Canceled Flight Passengers.
Our vacation plans did not include a stay at the resort, but a canceled flight on Alaska Airlines changed our plans. It appears this location is a frequent spot for those on canceled Alaska flights as the resort had a pre-made sign at the check in counter with the Alaska logo. I would have thought the resort would have gone out of their way to welcome an additional 50+ room revenue that was unplanned, but the experience was just the opposite. While I appreciate the unplanned workload, the fact that Alaska uses the resort as a backup and the resort has no plan to handle this situation is a lose-lose for Alaska and its customers. We arrived at the resort after 9 PM. There were 3 people (out of 8 check in stations) when we arrived. When 11 PM came, those 3 people went home and we were left with a night manager and one other employee who appeared to be experiencing his first time checking people in. Finally, after standing for over 4 hours, we received a room key at 1:45 AM. Our room was OK. It was a standard all inclusive type room with a small bathroom area. Others had complained about mold in their room, but we only noticed a lamp shade needing attention. When we arrived at the resort I thought maybe it would be an opportunity to find a new gem for future visits to Cancun. That did not happen.

Do not come here go somewhere else
My experience was horrible from the moment we got here our room a honeymoon suite was not ready until after 3 o’clock. No one can tell me what time it would be ready, the third night here we ate at Wayne’s booth steakhouse and four out of the 10 people that came with us got sick. This is day four of me having food poisoning. The elevators do not work. The staff was not friendly at the front desk. Our fridge was refilled once in five days. Stay away stay far away.

DO NOT BOOK ESPECIALLY IF FROM UK
The hotel is just ok, it had a few pools, slides and a kids splash area however the food was TERRIBLE! My kids especially my son barely eat for the full week we were there, we had to eat out most nights and even ordered a dominoes pizza to the hotel a couple of times. One evening I asked if they had any chicken nuggets, it was very nice of them to bring some out for us but I could not let the kids eat them as they were a grey/black colour mush inside (definitely not chicken) The cocktails all tasted the same just sweet slush, the coffee machine in the lobby was only available from around 7am until 6pm The rooms weren’t great, quite dated. They were doing work and painting on the floor we were on. They were also doing work right next door to our room, we could hear banging and stuff was flicking over onto our balcony where our things were, we had to turn the air con off as it was blowing such a strong smell of paint and turps into the room! I asked reception if they could pause on the work next door as my son has a bad chest but the next morning they were back doing work again! We were a family of 15 and we all went to see the tui rep and made a complaint of our overall experience, the lady on the phone at tui mentioned damp at that hotel, they agreed to move us all into a better hotel for the second week of our holiday and that was the riu palace peninsula which was a much more pleasant stay! I would recommend NOT booking this hotel especially if you are from the UK as they don’t seem to cater for us at all!

Friendly stagg
The hotel wasn’t in the best shape and we had issues with a leaky roof/wall that was very frustrating. But the redeeming quality of the hotel is the friendly staff- especially Reyes and Joel! They were so kind and hardworking - appreciate them!

We had a wonderful time during our stay. Great to see all of our friends still working at the hotel.
Bellboy- Jesus was wonderful. Very helpful with our luggage. Bartender- Roger, Rafael, Joel, Juan Carlos, Sebastian and Gabriel were fantastic. Great time chatting with them all. Concierge- Victoria, Ceci, Lina and Nancy were very helpful and answered our questions. Can’t wait to come back and see everyone again. Mucho Gracias.
