Boutique feel with impeccable service!
This resort is amazing! It feels like a small boutique resort. The rooms are little private bungalows nestled on the hillside instead of a massive hotel with hallways of room after room. You would never guess it has the occupancy of a Secrets. The pools were chill and relaxed and oh so chic. The beaches are breathtaking with black sand and driftwood trees. The Seaside grill and Portofino Italian restaurant were better than high end restaurants at home. The staff was top notch and always “my pleasure” with every request and then often times went above and beyond! By the time we left we felt like we were leaving friends, like Christian at Seaside grill. He takes so much pride in being the manager, as if he owned the restaurant himself. He even refused our tips saying it brought him great joy to serve us. We will definitely be back again! Don’t let the terrain of the resort discourage you, there are vans to shuttle wherever you want to go on the property at a moments notice.

Love Secrets Papagayo
Love this resort. No smoking Small, but hilly. Means we get our exercise walking the hills. Dance troupe is amazingly talented. Every performance was outstanding. The people who work at the resort are incredibly friendly and warm. Big shout out to Ely, Johel, Cristian, Armando, Victor, Yesner, Erick, Christian, Steven, Fernando. Spa ladies are the best, especially Claudia. Meraedy and the entertainment team were so much fun. Muchos Gracias.

Poor Communication Before Even Arriving
My wife and I are staying at a nearby resort and wanted to book a day pass at Secrets Papagayo to see what the property has to offer. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely frustrating. We first contacted concierge via WhatsApp and were instructed to send an email with our request. We sent the email and received no response. After following up again through WhatsApp to let concierge know, there was still no reply. To make matters worse, the toll-free phone number listed on the resort’s website connects to an attorney’s office in the United States, which added to the confusion and frustration. For a resort of this caliber, the lack of responsiveness, inaccurate contact information, and poor follow-through was surprising and disappointing. Based on this experience alone, it left a very poor first impression and ultimately discouraged us from visiting the property at all.

A great vacation experience.
We very much enjoyed most aspects of the resort. Aspects that enhanced our relaxation and experience were the nature found in Costa Rica, calming sound of beach waves, helpful cheerful attitude of all staff encountered especially Harold ,a van driver who helped me when I was lost the first day. The Portofino restaurant food was delicious. Breakfast had many options for a low fodmap diet I follow. Aqua pool was quiet with shade under palms. The gym was well equipped. Yoga by Marta was a pleasure and the yoga mat was clean. Really appreciated the water delivered to our room each day. A member of our party enjoyed walking all over the resort and two hiking trails as well. I enjoyed being able to walk down to the restaurants and saw parakeets flying by and other colourful birds. The dancers were admirable in their athletic dance skills along with their fire show. Enjoyed ice cream at coco,s. Having soy milk smoothies made was great as well as juices. I felt so much happier and relaxed at the end of my stay than before I came. Impressed with the attitude of Costa Rican people as well as their country. Walked on the beach but it was volcanic sand so not so inviting. Tour was very interesting. I’d go back to Secrets Papagayo. Almond seabass at Aqua was delicious. Learned about the instrument called Mirimba which is like a wooden xylophone.
