DANGER DANGER DANGER AVOID*****
This Place Needs to Be Shut Down – Horrific Experience at Riu Republica I don’t even know where to begin, but let’s start here: This was my WORST Riu experience ever. I’ve stayed at other Riu resorts and had decent stays, but Riu Republica? It’s not just a disappointment — it’s an absolute disgrace to the Riu brand. Let me make this clear: This resort doesn’t deserve 5 stars — it doesn’t even deserve 1. This place should be shut down for the health, safety, and sanity of future guests. Here’s what you’re NOT told before you arrive: • NO AIR CONDITIONING. Not in the room. Not in the hallways. Not in the lobby. Not anywhere. Just hot, stale air everywhere you go. • ELEVATORS DON’T WORK. None. On any floor. You better hope you’re not on a high floor or have any mobility issues. • RATS IN THE GIFT SHOP. Yes, actual rats. I personally witnessed employees chasing a rat out the door like it was just a normal part of the day. • AN ORANGE CAT LIVING AT THE POOL. Not lounging — living. Walking around, drinking from puddles, and hanging out like it paid for an all-inclusive stay too. • NO HOT WATER. And barely any water pressure. Showers feel like a light drizzle from a clogged garden hose. • MOLD GROWING IN HALLWAYS. I’m talking visible mold sprouting out from random doors. It smells musty, damp, and just plain unhealthy. • THE DARKNESS IS TERRIFYING. Walkways to the rooms at night are pitch black. No lights. Just darkness, stray cats, and the sound of your own anxiety. • FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SICK. I’m now on my 19th trip to the toilet this morning. Every bite from the buffet or any restaurant was served lukewarm, bordering on room temperature. Congratulations — you’ve officially ruined all-inclusive food for me. This place is an active health hazard and a lawsuit waiting to happen. I paid good money & had family and friends come to celebrate my birthday(which is today) and ended up in a nightmare. Birthday ruin!! I don’t want an apology from the front desk. I want the CEO and executive management to see this and actually walk this resort — at night, in the heat, in those moldy hallways, while trying to find something safe to eat — and tell me this is acceptable. Shame on Riu for letting this property carry your name. Until this place is seriously renovated or permanently shut down, I’ll be warning every traveler I know to steer clear of Riu Republica

Not happy
This trip was for my best friends 60th we have been moved 3 times so far. Not happy with the rooms they have given us so far. Spoilt my friends birthday as moving from pillow to post each time on her birthday no relax or chill time. 1 room they gave us had been painted and you could smell paint. Which was still wet. Got the rep to go talk to them as we were not getting any where each time. To then be given another room which was suppose to be a little upgrade. Yes a bigger bed and 2 cabinets, whoop whoop think not get us out of here 5* my arse would not give it 3* do not come here if you want a relaxing break as this is not what you will get very disappointed

2* at most, avoid is want a 5* experience
This resort is nowhere near a 5* Check in they give you a map and leave you to find your room and this resort is huge. Rooms are tired and broken, had to put the shower on an hour before needing it to get warm. Room service take your towels but don't leave any clean ones. Staff don't want to know unless you tip. Asking for a coffee with breakfast was difficult....ignored so many times, staff will stand their on their phones before serving you. The place is a mess, it's too big and not enough staff to manage. Only positive is you don't have to save a sunbed at silly o'clock....always a bed around the pool. Warning...no parasols/cover on the beach, only beds. Very disappointed in Riu....expected so much more from them

Bach trip
Went for my bachelorette trip. Remember this is a party resort!!! I had a great time, the rooms were spacious had two full baths, a king bed annd 3 full size beds and the room was very clean with strong water pressure. Now the food again we picked this Resort for the party vibes but the buffet food was fine breakfast was the best. The staff here was amazing super friendly and lively. I never felt once pressured to leave a tip however we would leave a 5$ tip for a group of 8 girls in total And the staff would be so appreciative. I would say if your looking for relaxing and luxury chose somewhere else.

We wanted to go home
We've traveled many places and this resort isn't a five star, maybe a 3 star. We've stayed at cleaner, maintained places for half the cost. We were so excited to visit the Riu but after the first day we could tell it needs a complete over haul. We found our room smelled ok and the air worked but mold was in the room and as we walked through the many conjoined restaurants all smelled of mold. Enough it caused my stomach to turn and my husband to have breathing issues so we dinned on the outside buffet area all the meals we had. Most meat was questionable and all the burgers where still raw inside in the buffet, the beach jerk chicken shack or the sports club. The 24 hour snacks at the sports bar were soggy and pre-made in mass amounts with wieners in hot pots and jellied cheese to go on the nachos. You could only get one king of beer an tap. Music at the pool was awful. Most staff in the restaurant look like they hate their life and no very little English. Luckily one very humble, kind server made our week at the buffet and deserves credit for his hard work and customer service. Were told that karaoke was only on Wednesday when we called the front desk and that was incorrect. The DJ late at night was great. The beach was OK but not how it was many trips before. Though someone mentioned renovations where weeks away for this resort. I say go somewhere else.
