Do not recommend

I've traveled to Dominican Republic several times and have stayed at a couple of resorts and have had an amazing experience. We booked our trip to Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, due to its high ratings and reviews, however, the food was disgusting and the alcoholic drinks tasted like medicine. The food was horrifying from the first day we arrived until the last day. This made our experience awful and after this vacation, I doubt I will return to any of the resorts located in the DR. We barely ate and made a former complaint to the General Manager and the staff regarding the quality of the food and the way the food was prepared. The chicken tasted like rubber, a simple sandwich tasted like cardboard (Whole wheat bread, ham and cheese), and the cheese smelled awful. We suspect the food products used were frozen foods, because there is no way food can taste that awful. The last couple of days at the resort all we ate was fruits and nothing else. We didn't drink the alcohol after the first day when we tasted our cocktails and it tasted like mouthwash. We are truly disappointed about our experience at this resort. Everyone we engaged with in a conversation at the pool or anywhere else complained about the food. We didn't step foot in the beach as it was full of seaweed and you couldn't reach the water since the pile of seaweed surrounded the entire beach. We only used the pool and stayed in our room since there was absolutely no entertainment at the hotel, except for karaoke, which we didn't care for. This resort needs a new cooking crew and a Chef. There was no Chef in site at any of the restaurants.

Relaxation Haven for Beach Lovers

I'll break mine down to plus, mediocre, and con, but overall Zoetry in DR is a relaxation mecca if you choose to unplug and enjoy the calm beach or even the gorgeous pool. This is the second Zoetry we've been to (we went to Paraiso (sp?) in Riveria Maya and I must say that one was better) and there's a reason we love them. They know what they are doing. My only drawback at this one was food, and we are major food snobs and I'm really picky. Still, I don't know if it would stop me from recommending it to a friend! Go here if you want to unwind and relax! PLUS: -People! Staff was great. Bayron, our "butler" was awesome. We weren't demanding because we were lazy & didn't do excursions or anything, but he checked on us every day, scheduled our spa for us, and moved our horseback ride, which we really appreciated. Of course, just having a "butler" is pretty cool to start with. Angel and Daniel were great wait staff, and Estefanie was friendly every morning for breakfast. Ruby (?I think) was the BEST bartender by far, I sometimes walked to the lobby just because her drinks were so good and she was nice. And then Latisha checked on us on the beach all the time - we planted ourselves there for hours at a time & they knew that, so her and Vanessa took care of us! Vanessa was the cheeriest, friendliest person! She loves her job. She would see everyone in the restaurant later and be like "Remember me? Good to see you again!" -Spa. The bonus 20-minute massage that was included was really nice. Josilyn and Olga did a great job asking what pressure we liked and delivering. I liked the whole set up of the steam room/sauna/hot tub, etc, but the steam room was broken. I did like how they told you the order of which way to sit in them and the benefits to your body, and it was all free. And no one was using it, so there was no crowd. -Horseback Ride - also free that I don't know if people take advantage of. So much fun! On beach, easy. Bring camera, guys working will take photos. Tip: do early in week so not sore on way home. Or maybe that's me not knowing how to sit on one. -Extra-curriculars - painting, yoga, pool biking. Few options for you but didn't bother whole resort. You'll have to read your newsletter every evening to find out about next day's events. -Drinks - constantly supplied! Especially when you are on the beach! -The Room. We had a standard Garden Room and we were so happy with the space, the bathroom, the view. We looked down on the winding pool, had palm trees everywhere, and honestly could see the ocean in the far distance. There was also a screen we could pull down for privacy on one side, but we weren't tall enough to reach it. Oh, and the television had a, um, variety of channels. Just saying. -The main pool. The main pool is an infinity pool, near the ocean with the best possible views. The employees clean it (and the winding feeder pools) daily. It's so clear and gorgeous. There are palm trees in it too, so there is shade if need be. -The BEACH. Extremely comfortable loungers, circulars, and beds, all padded, some with pillows, plenty of towels, constantly being resupplied. All of the chaises and such were staggered so even though there were a lot, everyone could see sand and water in front of them. It was well-designed. -The VIEW from everywhere. From the beach, from Indigo (the breakfast/lunch restaurant on the water), from the rooms, from the main pool - just can't escape. And don't want to. Zoetry might not be the reason for this, but they definitely designed the place correctly to maximize it. MEDIOCRE: -Second Pool. Though it has the swim up bar, which is cool, the water was slightly green, it was completely in the shade, and frequently this was where the loud guests went. I think it was actually good to have two separate types after all, to maybe distract one from the other? The staff cleaned it daily too. It just didn't ever seem blue! -Restaurants in General. There were only three and the menus did not change. Food was good for steak and meat eaters - steak was delicious. But seafood was not cooked well. CONS: -Not Adults-Only. Not even 16+, which is what we actually saw it marketed as. We knew we were probably going to get the latter because that's what we saw it as. And while there weren't toddlers, there were several families with children and even a few 10-12 years old. -Food pick-up. We had room service twice, called to tell them we were done, please pick it up soon so the birds didn't get it. And two days later it was still sitting there. We noticed this was not a rare occurrence, because there was food left out at a chaise across the street from us for several days as well. -Delayed service. One day, our lunch took more than an hour and I finally got up and left. I was annoyed and hungry and irritable at that point. The manager chased us and asked for our room number, so I presumed they were going to do something nice for us. When we got to dinner that nice, he said he'd wait on us himself. Not only was that nothing special (our food came out at a pretty normal rate) but they also brought me raw fish. If you are trying to serve me that fast, I'd rather you not and instead give me food that was cooked all the way. Overall, I would totally recommend this place as a great relaxation place. However, if you are a foodie or food snob like my husband and me, this may not be your first choice. Still...it's so beautiful!!

Amazing Trip

The Zoetry was perfect. From what we heard, the week before our trip bad storms damaged the property. But, honestly you could not tell. The staff were all friendly and great at their jobs. Not available was never the answer - the answer was always absolutely. Our butler Rayon was always there to make things happen. He went out of his way to help. And let's not forget Gilberto at the pool bar. Always with a smile and a joke. Without a doubt, we would go back.

Fabulous!!!

Zoetry is perfection. Beautiful location, fabulous amenities and the quiet we were looking for. Juan, our butler, was wonderful and helped with anything we needed. Estefania the server is lovely and professional, she and Jose both gave us amazing dining experiences. Bernardo in room service was fabulous, as were the bartenders, Julio, Marcelo (Poncharello!!) and Giberto! The rooms were spotless and beautiful, the restaurants were excellent. We took an excursion to Saona Island. It was a really fun trip on both a catamaran and speedboat. Anna in the spa was magic! We will absolutely stay at another Zoetry Resort and highly recommend Agua Punta Cana!!

Fabulous!!!
