Best babymoon ever

We chose this resort because it looked more peaceful. We were looking for a relaxing vacation and that is exactly what we got!! Everyone in this resort is super friendly and helpful. The pools and beach is beautiful! The restaurants, although it doesn’t have a lot to choose from.. food is amazing! Breakfast buffet was our favorite! We would definitely recommend this resort and will absolutely go back! Thanks Puerto Rico for an amazing babymoon!!!

Newly Wed's

We selected this resort after searching for honeymoon destination for months. The staff was very welcoming, polite, & friendly. Since this was our first time at the resort we walked around to get comfortable with things & to be sure we knew the do's or don't. The best part was having access to the beach as it sits right of the resort & we enjoyed walking from one side to the other. Although we don't have children I wish there was a bigger kid zone as they would be out late as the adults, understanding they're on vacation as well, but sometimes we found it hard to relax peacefully in the 2-3 available Jacuzzi's because of the kids jumping in/out without adult supervision. There was a pool designated for adults, but the kids played there as well because they were never told it was adults only &8 the parents were off doing their own thing. The bartenders for the most part were nice & held conversations, but some seemed bother or not interested in helping so a few times we sat at 5 O'clock somewhere & felt a particular bartender didn't want to assist. But, never the less those were minor things compared to the gorgeous sun setting & how peaceful the hotel was during the night hours. There was a nice event poolside on a Friday, whereas Saturday's seemed more relaxed. We arrived on a Tuesday & left Sunday afternoon & we both said Puerto Rico owes us nothing as we had the time of our lives! If I could change one thing regarding the resort it would be the "all-inclusive" meals. Most of the restaurants looked at us as if we were crazy because they were not familiar with it & figured they would charge the room although we paid around $400 each to have free breakfast & dinner during our stay. Trust me it was worth it because the food on the resort wasn't cheap. Although they made a few charges to our room because they didn't understand the all-inclusive for food, during check out it was corrected. I recommend checking out at the end of your stay so charges are not added to credit card required to be on file with a $500 balance at check in. THE NEW WED'S!!

Short but amazing trip

We were only there a few days but it was a fantastic trip! The resort is BEAUTIFUL since the repairs from Hurricane Maria. Service was top notch. I've been to resorts in mexico and Jamaica and the service there had nothing on the service we received in Puerto Rico. Saul, the valet guy probably stands out the most. If you are looking for suggestions on places to eat or attractions that are must see ask Saul. Everything he suggested was amazing. As far as food on the resort I really cant say much. We only ate at the resort twice and both times we had the nachos from the Margaritaville bar which were really good. They were also $17 which is why we only ate there twice. Although food off the resort wasn't inexpensive either. But at least we had more options. Drinks are tasty, but be prepared to spend $12 a mixed drink $6 a beer. not sure if there is an all inclusive option for the resort but if there is and you're a drinker I would suggest going that route. Don't bother bringing cash bc they wont take it. Everything is charged to your room. There are 2 things I would change - towel pick up/exchange. There are only 2 places to get beach towels. When you get them they give you a paper ticket that they tear in 1/2 and keep one 1/2 so that when you return your towel they can match the tickets. if you try to return your towel to the towel hut on the opposite side where you got it they have to call and you stand there for 5 minutes while they figure it out. not exactly convenient. One night we got towels by the margaritaville pool and the hut was closed by the time we went back to our room. The next morning we had to stand in line at the front desk for 15 minutes to return them and make sure we weren't charged $20 per towel. Not to mention they expect people to keep track of a tiny piece of paper AND not get it wet ? Surely there must be a way to have housekeeping work w/ the towel huts and just collect the towels from your room and keep track of them. And then kids at the swim up bar.... I get that it is a kid friendly resort, but there are 2 other pools. Why not make those both kid friendly pools and let the adults at the swim up bar enjoy their $13 drinks in peace without being surrounded by screaming kids ? Towels and bratty kids aside- I would go back in a heartbeat :)

What's to Love

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa sits on a gorgeous stretch of beach. Since the waves are calm, it's an easy area to swim in.

What We'd Change

Some restaurants require slacks for men, and the casino requires men to wear collared shirts, but this just gives the guys a chance to show off their stylish side!

Why You Should Go

The resort is a fantastic home base for exploring the natural wonders of Puerto Rico, like the nearby El Yunque tropical rainforest and Fajardo's bioluminescent bay.

Hotel Description

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa: Experience Adventure in the Caribbean

Carpet putting deserves its own pro circuit, but nothing compares to the real thing. Nestled between El Yunque Rainforest and Fajardo's bioluminescent bay, Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa is touted as the Caribbean's premiere golf resort and home to two world-class golf courses. Tucked into the "Island of Enchantment," Wyndham Grand Rio Mar offers 600 elegant rooms and a tropical setting, majestic mountains and the rhythmic, rolling waves of the Atlantic.

The Ocean Course, designed by Tom and George Fazio, is sheer panorama. Aptly named for its spectacular ocean views, this course features multiple bunkers, elevated greens and four sets of tees. A favorite among guests, mostly for the iguanas and the signature 16th hole.

While the Fazios took a liking to the trade winds, Greg Norman's first-ever Caribbean design, the River Course, is 6,945 yards of rolling green along the Mamayes River. Norman took care to preserve the native foliage of this challenging course, embraced by mountain vistas and seashores, and to allow the natural terrain to determine the placement of all holes. Rumor has it that every hole is a signature hole here.

Non-golfers aren't forgotten, thanks to one mile of gorgeous beach with lots of fun activities, two stunning pools, one for adults and one for families and a 20,000-sq-ft sun deck. And if your putter fails you, perhaps Lady Luck is waiting to smile on you at the casino. Or maybe a session at the spa will help you unwind over that last drive?

As nighttime approaches, stash the clubs and return to Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa to observe the legendary bioluminescent bay of nearby Fajardo, where microorganisms create a mysterious blue-green light that illuminates the calm waters. After a dinner of sushi and Thai delights at Shimas Sushi Bar, retreat to 400-sq-ft, Ocean View Room. Snuggle into the king-sized bed to dream of the birdies or a hole in one!
