Terrible customer service
We booked this hotel with Tui and upgraded to a superior sea view room. The sea view was good , but the room was so dated, the shower was disgusting. On arrival I went bare foot just to walk on a sandy dirty floor and then discovered hundreds of tiny ants on the side. I complained to reception, who told me when they have rain the ants come inside and they would make sure the room was cleaned the next day. We were all inclusive , but everyday the bars by the pools never had white wine (which my wife drinks) and after telling reception everyday , just to be told they will let the bar manager know, nothing changed. On the twelve day , I had a go at the bar staff , who said come back in ten minutes and he would go and get wine, he returned with an old two litre coke bottle and poured wine out of this. Absolutely disgusting. Many other days there was no tonic , whiskey or lemonade. The buffet restaurants are very limited as well , only difference everyday was a meat choice. Reception staff didn't care unless you were a VIP member, not one complaint was dealt with. No tea and coffee facilities in your room unless your a VIP member, even though the superior room photos show a coffee machine. After four day of showing the photo , they sent a coffee machine to the room, which was broken.I carried to reception and showed them it was broke, to be told to take it back and they will get it changed, it was never changed . This was our first holiday with Viva Wyndam group and our last, joke of a hotel chain. Also the only entertainment was a singer in the lobby bar from 6 to 9 , there was no shows any night. Ive told Tui this and they said the hotel was up to the standard they expect, so will not book another holiday with them.

Amazing vacations with friends
Amazing experience with the staff (Gimena was so kind). The food was tasty but the drinks were so bad. The Wi-Fi is slow..

Great experience
There should be designated smoking areas. The barista, Isamar, at the cafe in Dominicas palace, was very welcoming and made the cafe lively.

Nicest beach in Dominican Republic
We booked through Air Transat and were the only ones to go to Viva Palace so we had a minivan just for us from Punta Cana to the resort. Check-in was a bit messy, we had to wait more than an hour to get our room. Fortunately, this was probably the only issue we had during our stay. Our room was in building 62, third floor, overlooking the outside of the resort, not ideal but we were not planning on spending time on the balcony anyway. We had no complaints about the room, everything worked. The fob on the bracelet is a great idea, it is handy because you don't need to carry a card to open the door. We used the app to book the a-la-carte restaurants for dinner, we went to all except Atlantis and LA Trattoria. We found the a-la-carte restaurants to all be good, much better than the buffet. We tried both the Palace and the Beach buffet for breakfast and lunch and found the Beach buffet better than the Palace, especially for lunch. Every day after breakfast we enjoyed a coffee at the Café Dominicus, thank you Isamar for making us macchiatos with a different design every morning. Viva has the longest beach compared to the other resorts here. It was easy to find a spot in the shade, even with the resort being 90% full. There is no beach bar and no service on the beach but it didn't bother us, bars were just a few steps away. It's a huge property and it is difficult to have it clean all the time, I know people are complaining about cups and plates left in different places for hours. But maybe if we all would make a small effort to return them it would be much cleaner. I think the management is trying to save money where it can: $2 per day for safety deposit box (everybody is using it, I think), Presidente beer replaced by the cheaper Canita, no Barcelo rum in any bar (except the Club Plus one at the far end by the Atlantis). Most of the guests were from Italy, Argentina, Germany, France and we enjoyed their company. I have a final note for the hotel management: One week before our arrival I sent two emails to the hotel, in Spanish, none were answered. In the last twenty years we went to more than twenty five different resorts and I always got an answer to my emails. We usually see and talk to managers during our stay. We didn't encounter any this time. We are used to filling a questionnaire upon departure, with questions about the resort, what we liked, what can be improved. There was none here, like there is no interest from management on what guests experienced. All in all, it was a nice, relaxing vacation and we want to thank all the hard workers from Viva for their contribution.

Pretty awful
I actually went end of June 2024. Unfortunately the standard of food was pretty poor. Infact I came down with the worst food poisoning I ever had. Spent 6 hrs hooked up to a drip in there medical centre, when I got home ended up I hospital for 4 days. The pool was dirty, with the ducks in it every morning. Duck poo all over sunbeds. Birds helping themselves to the food bars outside. Entertainment and staff were OK, but more interested in the Spanish guests. The room was in desperate need of an upgrade. The beach and sea were very clean though.
