Comfort and Beauty

Great resort we will be back. We stayed on the Palace side, but had access to both Palace and Beach. Beaches - lots of choices to enter the water - flat and calm (for the most part) some rocks - and relatively clear. Never a problem finding a lounge chair. Towels are easily available. Pools - we had 4 to choose from but only 3 were open. not crowded, plenty of spots to choose from. Clear, clean water. no swim up bars but easy access to drink area. lots of hot tubs to choose from too. Room - we had an oceanfront superior room. Great view on the second floor - trees are there so don't expect open views. Air conditioner is Cold! expect the condensation - its hot outside. Bathrooms are granite and have good water pressure and all the ammenities you need. they are a little outdated but plenty of room for 2 to move around easily. Beds are harder than i would like and the pillows are not great - but sheets are clean and room is comfortable. Food - if you can't find something you like - you didn't leave your room. So many choices in the buffet. Three buffet places to choose from. so far as we could tell - they did have some variety amongst them. MAny specialty restaurants to choose from. We liked the La Coco the best, but the Viva Cafe on the water was great ambience. We also ate at the Italian themed one La Palco - it was still good - but our least favorite of them. The Atlantis is an extra charge - we will have to catch that next time. Service - they speak Spanish - expect this. some english but very little. Everyone is nice and helpful though. We loved the bartender in the main lobby - everything is "Spezial". enjoyed Jose, Frankeln, BeinVenido ! Your room is cleaned in stages, so expect a delay from beds made to clean sheets. Your room comes with 4 sodas and 2 waters to start - they replenish the waters every day. We came during the week of Hurricane Maria! The resort did an amazing job keeping spirits light and still preparing for what could have been a devastating outcome. Everyone was so calm, helpful, and confident that you will still have a great time! We took the tour for the "time share" - not really a time share but kind of like it. We decided to buy - it works for us. Lorenzo was a great sales person - recommend you ask for him if you can. Not high pressure at all!

Fun times

Resort is great. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms a little old, but didn't spend much time in room. Buffet was pretty good. Drinks can be a little weak at times. Beach was great. Lots of shady areas. Ocean was amazing, warm and great snorkeling.

Great Place

Beautiful resort. Rooms a little old and the AC was not great. No wifi. Food was pretty good. Many places to eat. Lots of bars, sometimes the drinks were weak, sometimes strong. Lots of pools. The beach could sometimes be crowded, but lots of shade on the beach with all the palm trees. The ocean was beautiful with some pretty good snorkeling. Bring you own snorkel, The resort does not have those. They do have catamarans, kayaks, and paddle boards. Guests are mostly Italian and not very friendly. The staff is extremely friendly and the shows were pretty good. Always good music playing somewhere.

Hotel Description

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace: Dive into the Big Top

Prepare yourself for some hardcore rest and relaxation, and make your way to the all-inclusive Viva Dominicus Palace in La Romana, located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. This 83,000-sq-ft resort rests on the island's most pristine, white-sand beach facing the verdant islands of Saona and Catalina.

Should diving be your bag, whether you need a beginner's lesson in the pool or were born with gills, grab a four-night, all-inclusive dive package and explore the Dominican Republic, marine-mammal style. You'll find a wonderland beneath the shimmering indigo surf, as well as horse-eye jacks, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and brain coral. Wreck divers won't be able to resist the St. George, a 240-ft shipwreck resting 135 ft. below the surface of the water, just off the shore of Viva Dominicus Palace.

Land activities more your style? Grab a catamaran and explore the untouched perfection of Saona or Catalina. Or take some all inclusive dance lessons with that special someone. Looking for something unique? Wander over to Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace's sister resort, next door (all restaurants and drinks here a part of your all inclusive package as well), and take a trapeze lesson. The professional, trapeze-training team offers lessons for adults in the afternoon, while the mornings are reserved for children. And if you think you won't get bragging rights for your newfound skills, a circus-themed show (every Friday) allows you to show off your big-top act to an awestruck public.

While you're basking in all that circus glory, why not do it poolside, lounging in a chair, rum punch in hand? Now that you've worked up a good appetite, visit the La Yuca Buffet for some international cuisine, including grilled local fish, with a side of exotic, fresh fruit.

Sleeping too good this morning to get out of your king-sized bed? Pull back the curtains and gaze out at the surf from your Superior Ocean Front room, while Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace serves you a continental breakfast, room-service style.
