Great location, staff a little rude

The location and room were excellent. The concierge was a little rude and not very helpful. We were told we could book at different restaurants before we arrived, no go when we arrived. Then they accused us of staining sheets and we’re going to charge us. We never ate in our rooms and had pictures to prove they were ok. Check out took to long as staff took calls while we waited to leave. Wait staff and other staff were great. Hotel location on beach is amazing.

Staff was great?!

Staff was fantastic, drinks were great, but as a resort....disappointed! We were expecting more authentic food, or at least a choice to get authentic, and there really was not! There was Italian, Japanese/Chinese combo, buffet (a big don’t), and a Mayan restaurant we did not try. The food on 5th was 1000 times better! Beds were the most uncomfortable, and our balcony faced some trees and we heard the resort next door all night! On the bright side, the staff was more than accommodating and very nice! Anything you asked, it was achieved. The area was fantastic and the excursion we planned through an outside company was FANTASTIC! Overall, a great vacay, just wish some things were different! Did I mention linens felt like sandpaper?

SAVE YOURSELVES!

Customer Service: Terrible. No interest in wanting to help. No regard for long lines or number of people needing assistance. No regard for how HOT and over-crowded the humid, tiny lobby is. We didn't even know about activities or the a la carte restaurants until the 3rd of 4th day because not 1 employee at the front desk provided information. We were moved from one resort to the other upon arrival with no prior notice, no apologies, no regards to our feelings or interests, no care about our opinion, and no effort made to even match the room we originally booked. Upon arrival at the new/other resort, they tried to give us a small double-bed room by the garden when we paid for an ocean-view room with a king bed. They continuously denied availability of similar rooms. Finally, I spoke to the GM (Omar) who rudely and grumpily gave us the room we originally booked. This took up majority of our first day because they weren't cooperating. Rooms: The rooms look like hostel rooms with cheap bed/bedding. Rooms are dirty, especially the floors and the bathrooms. Pillows are uncomfortable. There were several cockroaches, ants, and flies in room throughout our week there. There was resistance when we asked sheets to be changed when pubic hairs were spotted upon arrival at bedroom. Food: This "All-Inclusive" resort has 1 place to eat, not including the couple "a la carte" restaurants. The buffet was the same every single day with the exception of 1 or 2 stations that changed. Everyday, they served leftovers from dinner or lunch for breakfast. Flies everywhere. No air conditioning. Very uncomfortable seating, humid room, no air ventilation. Guests can get a certain number of reservations based on how many nights they are staying. The food is terrible everywhere. Pool: dirty and small; closes at 8 pm. I got a skin infection from the not-hot 'hot tub', which I'm still taking antibiotics for. Beach: Completely covered in seaweed. Although the hotel claims they clean it everyday, neither I nor anyone in my party saw them clean the seaweed once (10 people over 7 days). Entertainment: No proper entertainment. During the day, they try to get people to do things like play darts and pin ball, etc. The activity employees look miserable and like they are being forced to babysit a bunch of adults by coming up with busy-fun-work. Very disheartening. If it wasn't for the positive attitude we had, I would have had a mental breakdown after wasting my hard-earned money to pay for a resort that's more like a hostel-hotel. Also, there's no wifi in the rooms. How are we paying more than 200 dollars a night and there's no wifi in an all-inclusive package? Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME, EFFORT, MENTAL HEALTH, SELF, AND FAMILIES AND DO NOT BOOK HERE EVER.

Overall, not a good experience.

Very disappointed from what was expected. This is long, but please read: Shuttle - Ypu have no choice but to fly in to cancun which is 45 minutes away. The resort offers a very expensive, cost per person shuttle. You should offer a free shuttle. Do not use this. It's much cheaper, (but still around $100) to use a shuttle service. Service - "Multi-lingual" staff barely spoke English and I'm not exaggerating. I realize that there are many nationalities that visit, but it was very difficult to communicate with many staff members, including front desk staff. MANY did not speak Englush at all. I had an issue with the A/C in my room. It was too warm for us but the temp only goes down so far. Nobody told me this so I complained 3 days in a row. I ended up with the front desk manager, maintenance manager and a maintenance worker in my room looking at it. It was then that I was told it didn't go down passed a certain temp. Had someone told me that the first time, it would have ended right there. But no one did so we were very embarrassed to look like cry babies and have 3 people in my room looking at a fully functioning A/C. Pool - pool area was just ok. No swim up bar. In fact the bar area is away from the pool and I was made to leave the pool area with my drink so it was very inconvenient. Pool closes just after sunset which is very weird to me. Bars - Only two on the whole resort. Their just plain ol' open air bars. It would be nice to have the type of bar with the swings. The poolside buffet was ok. The pizza was really good. The bartenders were very good. Beach - beach was ok, but dont expect to snorkel. It's full of sea weed and the water is brown and smelly. I realize that's beyond their control. But it's not advertised for obvious reasons. We had to take a 40 minute, $27 cab ride to find a snorkel spot. Whole day ended costing us almost $200 Or you can take their snorkel excursions which start at $50 a person and go up from there. Yes, that's what I want to do, go to an all inclusive so I can spend MORE money. Activities - Very limited. They have a cooking class, but its only on Thursdays and always ceviche. I suggest more often and a variety. Oh yeah, and since the fish has to be prepared well in advance, it's not even a hands-on class. A Guacamole or salsa making hands-on class would be nice. Restaurants and buffet - Not going to lie, the buffet sucks. It is what it is. The restaurants we could get into were good. You are only allowed a certain number of reservations depending in how many nights you stay. We stayed 4 and were only allowed 2 reservations. Unless you get to the reservation desk early, your screwed as to your choices. We ate a lot at the pool buffet because the main buffet just isn't good. The Italian place on azteca was VERY good. There are restaurants on the Maya but we never could.get in. You have access to the viva wyndham maya down the road, which has one less star, but is bigger and looks better. Just fyi. All in all, not happy with the experience and will not stay again. Hope this helps. I will ask that the resort not bother responding to this. I've seen your responses to the many negative reviews and they are the same generic, impersonal responses and always end with something along the lines of "hope to service you again" If you're not going to fix it, dont respond to it. My own fault for not reading other reviews beforehand. I wouldn't have stayed there had I researched it better. Thanks!
