Great place but......

Resort is a bit worn and dated but super clean and a great value. Customer service was excellent, all staff very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the beach was completely overtaken by sargassum seaweed. The entire beach, sometimes a foot deep. The water was the color of chocolate milk. The staff did their best to keep up with it but it was a losing battle. There is a sandals resort directly next-door which actually had a payloader removing seaweed on a daily basis. Fortunately, elegant hotel groups which owns turtle beach resort has sister resorts on the West Coast and you are able to use two of them. But the sister resorts only allow 10 guests a day from other resorts so availiblity was not good. You also needed to pay your own way up there by either public bus, one dollar us. Each way , crowded bus no a/c, about a 45 minute ride. Or a taxi at 30 us dollars each way which adds up really quickly. The beaches at the other resorts, Crystal Cove and Waves, were absolutely beautiful. So it was a hassle but we made our way up there for 3 days of our trip and it was worth it. After 5 days of red flag unswimmable water the resort offered transport to a public beach/marina/restaurant with 20 per person credit to use there. I know that the resort cannot do anything about mother nature but i think they could have given more options, alot sooner than they did. I will return to elegant resorts but not turtle beach. Not because of the service or the food or the property, but because of its location.. the water is rough as it is The Atlantic, not the caribbean. We went to Crystal cove 18 years ago and absolutely loved it. It was nice to visit it again and we will most likely book a trip there in the future. This hotel group is very customer service orientated., they do a great job

Turtle Beach Resort Met All of Our Expectations

My husband and I stayed at Turtle Beach Resort June 2-8, 2018. This was our second time staying at the all inclusive resort and we enjoyed our stay very much. Compared to other all-inclusive resorts, this one was very reasonably priced. It is not a five star resort, but they don't claim to be. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms and grounds are well maintained. There is a little wear around the pool area and the rooms are a little dated, but nothing to deter us from coming back again. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all buffet style and there are lots of choices of food. For dinner, you have the choice of eating the buffet (with a different theme each night) or making reservations at one of the two a la cart restaurants. There is also an ice cream shop and coffee shop on the grounds. The coffee shop also makes sandwiches and has desserts. If you don't feel like eating a heavy lunch or if you have a sweet tooth, these are perfect alternatives to eating at the buffet. They open from 11:00 a.m-6:00 p.m. The bar had a nice selections of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, vodka, whiskey, rum, etc...). The rum punch and Spring Turtle were refreshing and delicious. The views are stunning and the entertainment after dinner each night was an added bonus. The entertainment usually until around 10:00 p.m.

What's to Love

The easy walk to St. Lawrence Gap is one of our favorite features of Turtle Beach Hotel. Barbados nightlife is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

What We'd Change

The dress code at Asiagos might be a little too fancy for the more casual traveler. Just be sure to pack some shoes other than flip-flops.

Why You Should Go

If you can, make your trip during turtle-nesting season, April to November. It's an amazing chance to see endangered sea life.

Hotel Description

Turtle Beach Resort: Enjoy A Premium Barbados Hotel with Ocean Wildlife on the Side

The stretch of Barbados' South Coast that is home to Turtle Beach Resort isn't called "Turtle Beach" for nothin'. It's actually a sea-turtle nesting ground from April through November, and lucky December visitors just might catch a glimpse of a hatchling as it scrambles toward the sea.

The wildlife, though, is only the first draw of Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados. All inclusive packages feature the hotel's three restaurants, two freshwater swimming pools and a boat-load of water sports. Try your hand at windsurfing, or watch for tropical fish from a kayak or canoe. When you're ready to explore the surrounding town of Dover, make the three-minute walk to St. Lawrence Gap, or "The Gap" as locals like to call it, a hub of shops and vibrant nightlife.

An island vibe in a natural setting awaits you at Turtle Beach Resort. Barbados' South Coast beach seems laid out just for your viewing pleasure from the private balcony of your artfully decorated room. When you arrive at the hotel, the open-air lobby welcomes you with fresh ocean breezes and a laid-back atmosphere. Each of the rooms is a suite, providing you with all the creature comforts of home. But you're not at home, you're on a Caribbean vacation, complete with beach-concierge service bringing you fresh fruit and afternoon tea. And when it's time for dinner, sample fine dining at Asiagos, the highest-rated Italian restaurant in all of Barbados.

Bringing a handful of kids along? Turtle Beach Resort's Flying Fish Kids' Club is the perfect place for them to hang out and play beach cricket, table tennis and Nintendo Wii. Even "too-cool-for-school" teenagers like the foosball setup and pool table. And with the crackle of Caribbean energy in the air, those who join in the Kids' Club's educational and cultural activities will be too absorbed by their island surroundings to even realize they are learning. Meanwhile, it's playtime for the grownups as they relax in the whirlpool or embark on a rum distillery tour.
