Dinning Experience

We had the opportunity to eat at each of the all inclusive restaurants offered by the Level at Melia. The Aqua (Italian Restaurant), was a nice atmosphere however, the food was not edible. I ordered the veal, it should have been tender but, it was tough as shoe leather...resembled a pork cutlet that had been pounded extremely flat and was so dry that I could not eat it. There was no sauce for it either. My wife's dish was not to different. We left and went next door to the buffet, (the Market Place), the food there was much more palatable. We experienced much the same at each of the restaurants. The last night there we had the teppanyaki at the Nikkei. The chef was very entertaining all while being extremely professional. However, maybe the chefs should be sent to a teppanyaki restaurant to learn some of the nuances of serving the dish. Our teaks were plated first then served after the chef finished preparing the the other meats so, the steak was cold and the vegetables were watery. Additionally, there is more to fried rice than just sauteing it in soy sauce and butter. It was very dry and not too tasty.

So so resort

The resort is located on a beautiful area in the Bahamas. Clear water and white sand beach. That’s about it. Bars at resort close at midnight, no activities for adults no shows except for small ones indoors. No spa at the resort. Overall a good resort to disconnect but overpriced for the limited functions it’s offers. Food was mediocre and service attendants were rude and not welcoming except for a few of them. The staff in the level beach area were amazing, very attentive and knew our orders each day before we asked. If your looking for a fun vacation this is not the spot. This location is for sleeping in early because there is nothing else to do.

Latest Bahama Excursion

We recently completed a family trip to Melia Resort. This is the first time visiting this resort. Overall we ;had a great time. Pros: 1. We stayed in the Level Addition on the top floor. Room 960. There was a great view of the area. We could see the entire beach area. Try to get the upper floors. 2. The beach area for the Level was excellent. Service was great. Rinald was the best. 3. Excellent Hotel location close to downtown by bus and next door to Baha Mar. There was a shuttle that ran every 15 minutes until 2 AM. This was very convenient to the casino. 4. Most employees were very friendly. Cons: 1. Personnel in the Level were not very friendly. We had a party of 6 with 3 rooms. Our room was not listed in the Level but in the main hotel. It took awhile for me to convince them that I had payed for the level. In addition, they advertise they will make reservations for you at the restaurants. I was told that I should have filled out a form weeks ahead of time which I never received. We did end up with spots but they were either for 9 PM or 6 PM when opened. You would think they would reserve some spots for Level Guests before arriving. Other than the beach area and the room the lounge for the Level was disappointing . 2. The food was average. The buffet was OK but not special. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant the best. We ended up at the Fish Fry and Gray Cliff for a couple dinners. 3. The Bars were good except service at the pool bar was not great. Usually had only one bartender on duty. I big tip got their attention. It appeared they pocketed the money. So if you didn't tip they eventually got to you. Overall we enjoyed the trip. A few updates and changes and they could improve the guests experience.

Importance of Expectations

The complaints I have is more for Cheap Caribbean rather than Melia. Had my expectations been set properly then it would have been a different trip. The room had a SPECTACULAR VIEW. The LEVEL staff was FANTASTIC. The hotel needs a facelift which is not the staff's fault however if I had known what to expect it would have been fine. The site I booked through rated the hotel as 4.5 and it is not that. It is a great location, nice beach, food is OK, getting a reservation is a little tricky and annoying and the menus are limited. The staff is so wonderful and really tries to help but for the money I paid I expect more! I went on a high end cruise over New Year's and paid less for a week! I stayed 3 nights and what I paid I could have had another week's vacation! I hardly drink and upon arriving I had a bottle of FIJI in my room. I asked for 4 bottles for the days I was here and I was charged $50!!! That is ridiculous and honestly I was so turned off. I personally do not get value from all inclusive because I don't eat much and don't drink so the only thing I ask for is water and get charged!!!! Again if you understand what you are coming to it is a nice place but I paid about $500 too much! The other major disappointment was in getting a late check out. As an AMEX card holder I am accustomed to late check out at no charge. First off they can't guarantee then they wanted to charge $25 an hour so I changed my flight and going home early! They got enough of my money!
